    Does anyone else have hair that is different all over their head? The front parts around my face are 3A, the sides are 2C, but it gets less curly towards the back, and the back middle of my hair is 2A. I love the front, but don't really know what to do with the back to get it more curly.

      Elizabeth B i have the same problem. If you have layers, it is probably looking awkward. Try cuttig your back hair to the lenght of the curls( if that makes sense) so that the wavy/almost straight hair won't be showing.
      You can also try curlying the back hair by finger coiling or bantu knots. I hope this helps :)

      Elizabeth B that’s literally my problem I have the very front pieces 2c but then the whole back is like 1-2a it barely curls at all if anyone knows how to fix that let me know

    • @VillyT
      @VillyT 5 лет назад

      @@chloexoxo4546 That's because your hair isn't really that curly and the weight/gravity in the back pulls it down and causes it to get straighter. Your 'real' curl is probably between your shorter front pieces and the longer straighter back. Mine does that too. I want it longer but keep it in medium length (think bra strap length in the back) and braid it when it's damp to get the back to stay curlier and match the front.

    Anyone have hair that’s flat at the roots, ringlets in the middle, then wavy at the ends? 🙃🙃. My hair has a habit of looking half decent after diffusing, then goes flat about four hours into the day. I could use every product for volume and it still wouldn’t hold up. My hair is kind of thin, but I have a lot of it. I can’t figure out how to make the whole strands curl. I’ve tried deva curl gels and foam, didn’t work. Ugh.

    I’m SO happy I found your channel! I straightened my hair 90% of my teenage years and then at 17/18 (2012) I started embracing it more. Then I did a pixie cut and used way too much heat and chemical on it. Around 2014 I decided to commit to my hair and it just keeps getting better and thicker!
    But there’s still so much I don’t know and I’m LOVING this curly hair channel!!

    I have so many random hairs underneath that don't curl. Does anyone else have this problem and should I cut them a little shorter?

    • @neam801
      @neam801 7 лет назад +5

      Yes I have the same exact problem! I usually cut them a bit shorter than the rest of my hair, then they become a bit more curly but not a huge difference. I wonder why my hair is like that. I guess it has something to do with the fact that there can be many curl types in same hair, so some strands just are naturally straighter/wavier.

    So my hair usually looks really nice and curly when i come out the shower but as soon as my hair dries with the product (deva curl gel) and finger coiling , it looks like I didn’t do anything to it. My hair ends up looking weird and puffy all around that I have to go back, wet my hair and press my hair down to look decent, just makes me give up, I just started trying to cover my hair with wigs so that I don’t have to deal with my hair anymore but I really want to be able to let my curls out more, I’m stuck at not knowing what to do. Any suggestions ? (I wash with deva curl products and I use protein packets-coconut palmers)

    I have been on my journey for 3 years now! I use the Morocco method and blunt snip my hair every month. This works! My hair was at my shoulders 3 years ago and now it is virgin hair and to my lower back. I am in my 30’s so my hair didn’t bounce back that quickly. I am glad I found your Channel with great information about natural curls! Your curls are so pretty, mine are more flat up top and into a wavy curl. What are some shampoos that you like that don’t dry your scalp, I have a tendency to get dandruff, do you have any methods for curing that?

  • @neam801

    Love your videos! I wonder if you ever have any hair problems or phases when you feel like your hair journey is going backwards. For example, I have been adding too much protein on my hair and it has become very dry and the cold winter air has done some damage too. I feel like many natural curlies emphasize the actions that you should do to to get to your hair goal but not talk about all the problems with the hair. I would like to hear those and also some tips to overcome those problems. On the other hand I don't even know if you have any problems, your curls seem perfect!

    Hi Dana! Loved the video! Just had a question: Do you recommend trimming your own hair? I'm having a hard time finding a stylist who dry cuts curls. I've always had 'wet' cuts, but I'm desperate for a trim. I don't want to go behind my stylists back and get a cut somewhere else, but I don't want to offend my stylist and ask her to cut it a certain way. TIA 😘

    When I was younger the ends of my hair used to be curlier, when I gor older tho they straightened naturally but my baby hairs are still very curly especially after washing them. So my hair is bleached and long and very thick. If i would cut it and let the color grow out do you think i could maybe get these little curls in the end of my hair back? Or will it always stay straight now? ❤️

    My hair is like a unicorn...no not magical it's more like a mystery annnnnnd I hate it. I have no idea what is going on with my hair. When I was little my mom said I had naturally curly hair that looked like Shirley Temple and my natural hair color was Strawberry Blonde BUT my dad wasn't paying attention to me and I got a hold of some scissors and cut ALL on my curls of my head ever since then my hair was confused about itself. As I got older my hair got darker and longer but if I stayed out in the sun for a long time my hair has red to blonde highlights and the shorter my hair is the darker it looks but the longer it is the lighter it looks. Now like I said my hair was really long in elementary and thick and I mean THICK I didn't realize how thick until I had it cut before middle school and it was poof up when brushing it plus...oily omg so that helped weigh it down. So I completely damaged my hair in middle school cause I was straightening my hair EVERY MORNING and it was still a thick fluff ball but not as bad as when I would first wake up and then high school I was coloring my hair all the time and still straightening it plus blow drying my hair too and now I started my hair journey last year by cutting all my hair off I was doing good annnd then I colored it so its kinda alive but I do believe I have curly hair it just doesn't know what to do with itself cause when I leave it be and condition it and let it air dry sooo dude it's curly, it's wavy, and there are some straight pieces in there too. It doesn't know how to deal with itself... I don't know how to deal with it!! Lmao but hears the other think my hairdresser is telling me that my hair is straight cause I have fine hair... I'm so confused. It doesn't look straight to me hell when I had my hair to my waist and was still straightening it I could see the curls popping through I'm talking "S" shape. So I'm starting 2018 with me getting to now my head. I'm not dying it, not blow drying it, not even shampoo cause my hair I have now finally noticed that it HATES shampoo like when I use it my hair becomes a horrible birds net it's just god awful, and finally I'm not going to brush it I'm just going to use my fingers cause that seems to work. I don't know does anyone have this problem?!?! If so help please cause I don't know what is going on up there really. Right now it shoulder length dark roots with reddish ends and doing whatever it wants. Lol if anyone has some advice it would be much appreciated.

    I totally use and get most of these tips. My issue is i have scalp issues so at least once a week I have to used a medicated shampoo that has sulfates to help them. I've tried to use nonsulfate natural shampoos to help it didn't help. I do deep condition my hair and use a non sulfate shampoo on my ends after I use the sulfate one on my scalp. I've been on my journey for two years now I feel like my scalp issues affect the rest of my hair some but it's still a lot better than it was.

      hmm if your medicated shampoo is helping your scalp, I would definitely keep using it! Maybe try playing around with different deep conditioners or trying overnight treatments?

      Maybe make sure your medicated shampoo is only used on the scalp; don't rub it into your hair length.

      I've been loving the maui shea butter deep conditioner but i'm definitely considering an overnight treatment! I'm trying really hard to grow my hair out

      I never put any shampoo on my ends normally when it suds up though some tends to drip down some.

      I really want to try the scalp treatment and scalp exfoliator from Briogeo, but I haven't been able to afford them yet. Have you ever tried them? I hear they are pretty awesome.

    What do you use to deep condition? Do you switch it up or always use the same product? Do you recommend coconut oil to deep condition?

      The devacurl matcha butter deep conditioner. I show it in my updated routine. I usually deep condition 1-2 times per week and wash my hair 3-4 times per week. The other days I use one condition by devacurl

      Dana Marie how long do you leave in the Melt Into Moisture mask? I only did for maybe 5 minutes or so. Maybe this was enough since my hair felt softer than it normally is. Thanks

    I just started my hair journey a couple months ago. It’s going well and I have not been using any heating elements or cheap shampoos either and I’ve been loving my natural hair more and more. One thing I notice though, is when I use my Devacurl product (Ultra Defining Gel or Styling Cream) before I diffuse, once it’s dry, it’s SUPER SUPER stiff. It’s gets slightly softer the next day or two but honesty, I only love it that day but after that, I can’t wait to wash it out. What am I doing wrong?!

    Elementary: straight silky hair
    Junior high: had to flat iron for straight silky hair
    High school: embraced the mop (I also went almost 2 years without shampooing and I used a sugar, cinnamon, and conditioner mix to cleanse/exfoliate my scalp while also moisturizing.... I kinda want to go back to that actually

    So I use deva curl products only. And I love it, it’s definitely transformed my curls. My curly hair keeps falling flat near the top. I get regular trims but I have long curly hair (I want to keep my length). But the top of my hair gets flat so quickly :(. I got the deva curl clips but the next day my hair was flat at the top! Any tips??

    I have a weird problem where the start of my hair (roots) is like afro/curly and when it gets to the middle/ends of hair its like your kind of hair. It’s probably because i chemically straightened the ends (at the time all of my hair) but now when new hair is growing its making all my hair 10x puffier🤦🏽‍♀️😪 ik its confusing. How do i fix it?

    Your hair dying is my weakness if I ever do this I think it will be hard for me to stop dying my hair I am kind of doing my own curly hair Journey but in my own way and I do trim my own hair little by little my hair texture has gotten so much better in the past 3 months of doing this so I don't really put heat in my hair and I try reducing of how much I wash my hair and been doing more deep treatments on my hair
