You missed the point. Mac’s argument is built on the premises that to one degree or another, you live by faith, for you cannot know all things, but are required to believe in something.

What makes this so great is that both sides have arguments that can be made, and none of them are really smart enough to properly present them. Mac is certainly right that scientific theory is different from scientific fact, but Dennis also knows better than to blindly disregard science despite not having an understanding of the specific subject.
A scientific theory contains lots of observable facts and explains how they are related. It starts with a scientific hypothesis… and if it accumulates enough supporting evidence that it convinces all experts in the relevant fields it becomes a scientific theory.

No I think it is a real argument that you can't defend against, it's just we forget what we're arguing about here. The point of the debate, in this scenario, was not to disprove evolution or anything like that. They tried to make a case that Mac's opinion doesn't matter for being a creationist, and what he was trying to do (and, actually, did) is prove that he's just a valid as Dennis. When you remember that this was the point to be made here, I'd say he argued it pretty well!

So Mac, in the scene in the video above, counter-argued, not that evolution is wrong and the Bible is right, but that his take on the car accident case shouldn't be invalidated because he's a creationist. And, again, he succeeded in doing that.

The interesting thing is that Dennis knows as little about it as Mac. He knows just enough to understand what the general consensus on evolution is, but when he needs to expand on that he can only come up with "smart people agree" and "there's evidence." They both don't know nearly enough about what they're talking about, and Mac is able to use that to his advantage.

Well its a good persuasion scene. Since the most of the people who “believe” in evolution, don’t know/understand science behind it. All they get is basic biology in highschool and its so abridged that gives you only the basic idea of why or how. Mac got that 1 strong point. Most of the people also believe in evolution based on their “faith” in science.
This scene shows how someone who is well prepared can win a debate against someone who is unprepared, regardless of who is actually correct. Sadly, Ben Shapiro turned it into a career before I could.
