The second one kind of looks like Pinterest...like a lot.
Agreed, that P is too similar, especially when you’re pairing it with red. And the 4th one seems too close to Adidas for me or any other logo you’d find in a sporting goods store. I’d be afraid it wouldn’t stand out enough.

There are plenty of logos like this. I’m not a full pro but it looks like a guy just used a free font, which isn’t even very good fit. Even if that isn’t the case, it doesn’t matter. Don’t like it one bit.

Thank you for bringing up embroidery! My parents used to run a shop and you’d be surprised by the amount of people that think machine embroidery is just like screen printing. It’s not black magic. No matter how much you try, you cannot make a tiny star look like a tiny star, it’s gonna look like a really sad circle lol

I could totally see Marcus' labyrinth O alone on a TON of merch. It's mysterious enough that people would see it and go "what is that logo I'm seeing everywhere???" knowing and owning something with it on there would feel like being part of a club. Plus he's right, you could be subtle with it and just put it on the buttons. Instant classic.
Me, who has absolutely no knowledge about logo design: "Hmmm yes, symbol."
The second one cost $450, and is literally just a font...
You usually pay designers not for the complexity or for "hardwork", but for expertise and experience.
I will say though...it's a nice font and would work well with an apparel product.

The logo based on the maze and the last one was great.
Wow. The third one is insanely good. As soon as I saw that maze, I had to finish it.

Typeface designer here. No, the second one is a custom lettering, not a font. The connecting t’s give away which is pretty hard to do in fonts. Also look at her other works! The quality of Bézier curves is the best among the crowd in the video.
Not sure if you mentioned it in the vid, but I love that the rocket ship one isn't just the P but also the T. Having both the P & the T form a rocket ship is very clever, I think. Probably my favorite from this lot.
Maze logo looks awesome. It has deep meaning which is really important for marketing. Besides of that, having a symmetric shape it has more ways to be used than the last logo (which is also not bad by the way).

Retired designer here (35 years experience) -- you said all the things I would. Great video. Teaches others what to look for and how to represent. Nice talent Marcus and Arundaskm!
Normally when a Designer submits 3 logo options, the first one is the better one cause that's definitely the one they spent more time on... the other two are just for professionalism and to confuse the client a bit.
More time spent is not equal to more quality
The P and the T merged logo that also looks like a rocket is genius, love it.
I love these. You should do your own “The Apprentice” style reality show centered around design!
I definitely prefer the last one. There's some kind of cleanliness and simplicity to it that reminds me of Burton, yet it's still very original. Love it, he/she should definitely charge more.
1:03 it’s also a downturned ‘e’ that is an irrelevant symbol baked in
5:43 is cool. You should read what he’s written is explains why it’s a maze, it’s pretty clever.
9:37 it’s made of ‘P’ and ‘T’ and I think it’s a pencil (looks like a pencil tip which refers to drawing process crucial to prototyping perhaps) the plain version is too close to PinTerest
9:53 based on the write up, I’d choose the labyrinth
the maze one was the best one in my opinion, he did his research, the icon is so simple yet so complicated and it would look like an iconic logo.
Now I'm scared if my future clients check for anchor points, I'll have to start cleaning up a bit more haha...

That rocket guy is spot on.
I really like the one Marcus did with that greekish circle symbol I really would of liked to see what you would have done for this.
I still haven't gone to college to learn how to charge logos and all that but I've talked to graphic designers. I am impressed on how much you can make by a really simple logo. Of course it's only the looks that is simple,the process I believe is not.
The rocket one was definitely the best. The p and the t making a rocket is incredibly clever and unique but still very simplistic
This was great! Very interesting designs! The last one looks awesome, wasn't too sure about the triangle shape at the bottom left, but it makes it look more balanced actually!

If you didn't already know the business name, the 3rd logo by Marcus makes it look like it's PROT TYPE with an icon separating the words. Still, this one could be the best of the bunch.
Honestly this speaks to how flooded the logo market is with people who lack creativity and only work from pages like fiverr. You got a whole bunch of slightly different looking "P"

Surprised you liked the maze logo so much. A previous point you made was that the icon needs to look good when sized down. We didn't get to see or hear your thoughts on that aspect for that particular design.
The third one was cool. can be a streetwear brand. I can wear their Logo anytime. ahahahhhh

The thing I liked you haven't hired someone doing logo for 5$ and then complaint about their creative skills.
I've seen people hiring web developers for 5$, asking them to do custom code and then complaining about their coding skills.

The last one looked an ice cream cone and I couldn’t unsee it. My favorite was definitely Marcus with the maze.
I love these videos and seeing how different people handle the same breif. Hope you make more of them. It'd be cool if you collabed with RUclipsr designers and did the same thing, each creating a logo using the same breif.

I think Marcus's Logo design was my choice. He delivered not just the brand identity with the logo, but lead you through the design almost like a story, so it connects way more.

This video motivated me to create more and more design, really excited to learn
They were all great, but the two that really stood out to me are Marcus, the labyrinth design I would wear that. Arun looked like a skater brand logo. Very interesting.
You should do a king of the mountain style video where the $135 guy is the champion that goes against everyone until he gets knocked off.
Really liked the work and presentation of Marcus and Arun's submissions. Strong workdmarks and iconography. Also appreciate the how Arun worked the 'T' into the logo too
The logo by Marcus is a cool idea, but I can't help but read it as 'Prot Type' rather than as Prototype. For that reason I definitely think the last one (which looks like a comet to me) is the best.

Arund - a great job! Clean and primitive strength. Does not simple have the P in the logo, but is composed of the 3 letters that are duplicated in the brand name ie x2 P/T/0)

The prototype one was so dope. I think those they missed the opportunity to make the maze a P with the entry space (the center of the logo).
But maybe it wouldn't have worked. Need to see it irl
I think the first was meant to look like the paragraph symbols for Microsoft word as well. It worked really well with the tagline

As soon as I see the second logo, first thing came to my mind was: "Hey, it's Deep Purple logo."
The 3rd labyrinth symbol is on a pendant necklace that I'm wearing right now, neat lol
5:38 one is so clean like holy sh*t. It is just so god damn clean. Only problem I see with it is that the maze O is too big, maybe if it was just a bit smaller or the same size as the letters then it would be perfect.
Man paid 450 dollars for someone to type prototype in a font and slap it on anything he can find.

The problem with the last logo is that it clearly has a number 2 in the icon. However, if your company is called prototype, you really want people to think you are doing things before others.

Marcus killed it, really cool. I think the one for $450 was very unoriginal and not creative. The most expensive isn't always the best option
The last logo (that looks like a rocket), doesn't only have P in there, but also the T (the stem of the P with the horizontal line crossing it)
Speaking from a strictly consumer viewpoint $450 for cursive is ridiculous. And the 3rd one with the maze, why? If you used just that logo I would never guess a product called Prototype.

The $60 was hands down the best in terms of value. The logo itself is amazing and while I prefer the $160 more, the fact that it’s $100 more doesn’t make it as worth it.
