@@littl3evee I assume fiverr does it to stop comissions going through the tips system, worried people would do that to take a larger cut (of which they deserve but fiverr doesnt agree) but also tips are already used as a good willed system to support a person directly and theyre taking from that? I imagine with a message letting people know of the cut but it should be called something different. I dont know if advertising other platforms is allowed on fiverr but that should probably be used to move comissions to a better cut.
@@awesomeististiism Yeah, I could see that, it'd be very easy to just say "The gig is for 1 cent, just tip $19.99 after" if there was no commission on the tips... if they don't leave the tip they agreed to, you give the buyer 1 star or something. That said, that's a pretty terrible system for preventing that. If they're genuinely worried about that specific loophole, then a better solution would be to put a high but reasonable cap on what % you can tip for and then not take a commission off of any tips. That way getting tipped is the reward it's supposed to be instead of making it feel almost like a punishment for using the site. Would you lose out on some income from tips? Yeah, but you'd attract so many more clients (and bring back old ones who left you for that _specific_ reason) that it likely more than makes up for the cost relative to the current model.

People don't usually purchase expensive services if the seller is new. The way people do it is undersell at the start then increase the price once your name is out there!
@@quagswagon I'll add a disclaimer by saying I haven't sold my art online before, but if whatever website you're publishing on allows you to set your own discounts, I feel like another route for artists starting out who want to fairly price their art but still need to build up a clientele would be to set it at a certain price but have it frequently (or even always be, at least up until a certain point) go on sale until you get enough buyers and ratings.
