  • Cinnamon Roasted Walnuts

    Ingredients:
    Walnuts 2 cups
    Brown Sugar 1 Tbsp

    Method:
    1. Preheat the oven to 170°C.
    2. Rinse the walnuts with water.
    3. Drain the walnuts.
    4. Measure approximately 300 mL of water and add 1/4 tsp of salt.
    5. Place the walnuts in a pot.
    6. Pour in the salted water.
    7. Heat the mixture until it boils.
    8. Turn off the heat once it has boiled.
    9. Drain the walnuts again.
    10. This procedure removes the bitter taste from the walnuts.
    11. Prepare a sugar solution by mixing 1 Tbsp. brown sugar with approximately 60 mL of water.
    12. Add the walnuts to the frying pan.
    13. Pour in the brown sugar solution.
    14. Cook under medium heat and keep stirring.
    15. Add ½ tsp of cinnamon powder and mix well.
    16. Continue stirring.
    17. Cook until the walnuts are evenly coated.
    18. Optionally, sprinkle sesame seeds as desired.
    19. Spread the walnuts out on a baking sheet in a single layer.
    20. Roast for ~10 minutes.
    21. Turn the walnuts around.
    22. Roast for another ~10 minutes.
    23. During roasting, checking frequently to prevent burning.
    24. Remove the walnuts from oven when they turn golden brown and let them cool.
    25. Store the walnuts in a sealed container for up to 2 weeks or freeze them for up to 2 months.
