I saw this game, from the Michigan student section in my Washington hoodie. It was pretty exciting; I may have been the only happy person out of the tens of thousands in the student section. 20-3 until after the 2-minute warning.
The good old days when college sports wasn’t all about money, you came in as a freshman and waited your turn to start 2-4 years down the road. Coach James teams were built on defense and a strong running game first.
As much as folks talked about USC in the Pac 10. I have to say that Don James built one hell of a program at UW that would rival USC over that stretch of the late 70s through early 90s
Washington should've tried everything I their power to play in the holiday bowl instead of the orange bowl. The bowl committee blew it that year . Washington probably thought beating Oklahoma would hold more weight than BYU . Because most people assumed the winner of th a would be champs regardless of BYU being undefeated . Especially after BYU barely beat a 6-6 Mich team.
The 1984 season was so screwed up that BYU won the national title by beating this five loss Michigan team by one touchdown in the Holiday Bowl. They were the only undefeated team by beating two ranked teams out of thirteen all season and by late Dec. Michigan wasnt one of them.
Wish the NCAA would have found a way to get them out of the Holiday Bowl and into Jan. 1 game since they were title contenders . They probably would've gotten whipped!
@@boondoxatron9167 If Washington was smart they would've tried to pull every string to play in the holiday bowl. They probably thought beating Oklahoma would carry more weight since they were much better team regardless of record. And speaking to your getting BYU I a new years day part. On the flipside I'm sure the bowl committee wouldn't want two teams playing each other to all the marbles in prior to new years day!
Is this the same team that beat Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl? I don't remember starters Cookie Jackson, Mark Hunt, or Reggie Rogers playing in that game.
I'm a FSU fan and the fact we had to play them again and them being permitted to play to the championship when every team before them who lost their last reg season game , and th a happen to a undefeated team tons of times . Pretty much every year there's there's team. Ohio st that same year and they beat ASU ( 11-0 ) . And Florida winning it out right was a big slap in the face. Not to mention ND in 93 an 89. 1990 Colorado is right there with BYU IMO with your original comment. Washington messed up by not playing in the holiday bowl.
no sir. not even close. that 1990 colorado team got a gift from the football gods vs missouri. 5. count them 5 opportunities to score inside the mizzou 5yd line on the final series of downs to win it. its still up- and its still disgusting. what happened to that 02 miami team in the fiesta bowl was also pretty vomit inducing. the refs should never. ever. decide a championship. but thats exactly what they did. and thats coming from a nole so you know it was just that bad..
40:57: I've never understood why teams would waste their 2 pt play when the game is already decided. You only have so many of these. Use them when they matter, of course. But when the game is decided, don't give your next opponent film to scout.

It's such a strange sight to see a CBS college football game from the Big House

UNLV at Michigan next week

Bo’s worst team: 6-6
Possibly the worst team in modern history to play against #1 in a bowl game.

It did seem odd...even if they had a miraculous 2 second onside kick that turned into a TD, the best they could hope for is still a 19-20 loss.
