Fantastic explanation! All of the other videos I've seen for the roll over just show how someone who is advanced can do the exercise, with no modifications or ways to build up to the full roll over. The only question I still have is how to come down with control without letting gravity do too much of the work, I tend to plop down too much, even when I consciously tighten my abs. Thank you so much for all of your wonderful videos!

You can try using a small Pilates ball or even a Pilates arc under your tail so you aren't lowering down as far. As you build strength, try removing it.

So she does explain it? Because I’m a minute and a half into the video and she doesn’t explain it she just does it! So should I continue on? I know there’s a whole like almost 7 minutes left… But I just don’t like how she began doing it and just says “look at me…” I thought she would break it down first…

Terrific Jessica, used this method with clients and they had great success. Thank you they were getting frustrated at their lack of progress.

Sooooo glad I found this video!! I have been using a towel for my roll ups, advice from another video of yours. Slowly improving. So definitely will be trying this. Just love how you break all the moves down with explanations. And I especially love when you state, using a towel is NOT CHEATING!!! I wish my pilates teacher at my seniors centre didn’t feel this way. 🥰

This is so helpful. I have been taking pilates classes and this is always where I'm stumped. My lower back just wouldn't do the work. Now I can work on it and progress.

Great video, Jessica. My instructor has been doing a variation of this exercise in the last few zoom classes…I think she called it a Michelle Larson rollover? Not sure. Anyway, in my private lesson today with her, we did a little bit of the zoom class stuff for refresher and clarification, including this exercise because it’s something that we have not actually done yet together. So we started with my feet on the tower bar, then moved to a mat flush with the chair so I was able to grip the pole in the foot pedals overhead, then the one that she was doing in the zoom class, and finally the regular one. Still needs some practice, and I have to work on a stronger exhale, but it’s super exciting to learn something new. :)

The best explanation for this.If I am SUPER tight in hamstrings will this keep me from a full rollover? Even with a towel I am not able to do this. I am a strong athlete.

Jessica, I am scared to roll up past a certain point. I tried the 90 degree angle first. Do I need to maybe strength my lower abs more first? I am new to classical Pilates

Is there a step before using the towel? I have trouble getting my feet over let alone not slam my butt onto the ground of barely getting off the floor. Is there something MUCH easier to do so I can get to a roller over with a towel?

I feel so frustrated, because I am that type of student that everyone admires, but can’t roll over, I’ve tried several techniques, but I just can't do it. The teachers and I don't know what to do or why it happens. So frustrated for me!

OK, I guess the part where you bring in the towel underneath your back is what people are praising. That probably helps. I’ll probably try that.

OK you lost me when you did the roll over a minute and a half into the video without telling us how you even got to that point… Unless you’re gonna break it down afterwards?
