Watching this with tears streaming, as usual. What a beautiful soul who cared. I'll never stop missing Stevie and the incredible way he gave his all thru his music, preaching brotherly love. Because he knew that is only way the human race is gonna survive. Who knows where Stevie came from, but it certainly wasn't by accident. He was born to play guitar and nothing else, except of course to spread the word. Born in Texas on Oct.3rd, 1954 and was killed in that horrible helicopter crash Aug.27, 1990 at 35 yrs. young. There will never be another Stevie Ray. When people say his name, they need say nothing more. So happy and grateful that generations of people are discovering him and his amazing alien talent. Also what a blessing he was to this world, and sadly left us at the height of his enlightenment and new found happiness. How much more he could have given !! RIP, King SRV.

Stevie passed in 1990 at 35. He was 4 years clean and sober, and HAPPY. He was humble as he was talented. Stevie was self taught and could not read a note. It was ALL feel. We did not have enough time in our growing friendship, but I was blessed to have the time we did❤️Donna G

It is amazing that Stevie Ray Vaughan had such a beautiful loving soul considering he was raised in a very abusive home with an abusive alcoholic father who beat Stevie Ray all the time, the story was told by Stevie Ray's older brother Jimmy Vaughan who is a great guitarist In his own right and had a band called The Fabulous Thunderbirds. Stevie Ray said he started drinking at around 7 or 8 yrs old so coming from an abusive home myself by a mother that told me she never wanted me and lock me in a cold dark basement and beat me with a board with nails in it so I understand why Stevie Ray like I turned to drugs and alcohol. His basses Tommy Shannon said Stevie Ray cried out to God for help went into rehab and overcame his demons and helped alot of people including his brother Jimmy get clean. I love that he's actually quoting from the Bible when he talks about being brothers and sisters and loving others like we love ourselves. Stevie Ray Vaughan will always be the GOAT
Thanks for the kind words about Stevie. I was able to see him live twice. The first time I was maybe 20 feet away from him. The second time was his last performance. The night he died. I feel blessed that I was able to be one of the last ones to see him before He left us. I think he was 36 when he died. The last song he played was "Sweet Home Chicago". It's on RUclips if anyone is interested. There were solos by Stevie, brother Jimmie, Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, and Robert Cray.

Thanks for another awesome SRV reaction. I feel very lucky to have seen SRV and Double Trouble one time live at a Cali Jazz Festival when I was very young. Thanks to YT, I’ve discovered so much more of his live performances. This is my fav of him. He played with all his heart, with so much soul, a GOAT and yet down to earth and so very humble. Always loved and most certainly never forgotten. We miss you SRV. ✌🏼💜

He's my fave of all time!! Just an interesting side note to this particular performance. Ask he was picking with his teeth, one of his teeth came out (you can actually see him mouth the words " I lost my tooth). He picks it up off the floor! LOl. But he didn't stop playing!!! What a guy!!!

Men ,I appreciate you ,thanks for listening to my all time hero of music. He was a champion of just treating people right ,being kind and unity . When he played he became one with the guitar, he put everything he had in each lick ,pick and bend of the strings .he cared that people were getting entertained by his passion for music ✌

im only 46 yrs old, but it is such a joy to see the younger ppl apprecitate this great music, ----- a decade ago, before youtube reactions, i thought all hope was lost, becuase it seems like a lot of kids now just listen to computers making music, computers that go "beep, beep, bloop, bleep, blop" with a lot of bass and techno snare hits added.....idk, the older music had so much soul, and heart and humanity, and this reaction (like pretty much all ive seen to this song/performance, for obvious reasons), is just again, such a joy, it gives me hope, ---- the llok on you guys' faces saie it all. i have nothing against modern stuff, like i have nothing against most worthy art, but, the stuff of the oast shouls just never be forgotten, as this performance proves, multiplied by a trillion----- F yeah, i saw u guys's "texas flood" reaction the other week becuz i often binge srv, and beatles, the police (sting's old band), peter gabriel, amd nirvana reactions, amd in the blur of the happiness they usually give me, i sometimes forget to subscribe, but this time, with this reaction, i did subscribe now; really, really, beautiful stuff, hell yeah, keep rocking u guys, and , idk, F yeah

I’m not sure what massacre in South Africa he was referencing, because there were SO many in Apartheid South Africa in 1985. SRV was an enormously generous person to everyone he knew in his real life. See him on tv with Albert King, he’s got an incredible personal story. Did you notice the guitar change initially?

He was born in Dallas and lived may years in Austin TX. Those of us who were alive at the time were lucky enough to see him play at clubs around Texas before he became famous. I, my husband, my friends--we were young at the time, and this music was a big part of our lives--still is. Thank you for doing this on the day before the anniversary of his death. It means a lot to many of us. And thanks for the great reaction. Love ya'll!! Stay safe.

he was about 35 when he died in a helicopter crash leaving a show with eric calpton, buddy guy, robert cray, and many other blues legends, in 1990, he'd been sober for four years ----- he had a superhumanly awful alcohol (whiskey) problem, and a superhumanly awful cocaine problem, but he hit a really bad rock-bottom in late 1985, or sometime in 1986, and was dead-on, 1000% sober for the last 4 years of his life, ----he joined AA, and helped a LOT of people get sober, normal , everyday people he met at the meetings who became his friendsm(some knew who he was, some (older ppl) didnt), he wasnt a famous person there, he was just another guy trying to stay clean...he helped a lot of people because he was such a buddha-like, caring, such a real, down to earth dude---- his face would light up in the later years when would express wanting to get sober, and he did all he could to help.....amazing dude; he has an epic speech thats on youtube, in full, his AA speech, its about a half hour, 45 minutes long, where he just tells his story; and its so gnarly, and heartfelt, (as if his music wasnt enuf), that speech alone to this day has helped tons of people get clean, and continues to----- helluva dude...that speech in the middle of this songs makes his work to help fellow addicts get sober just a no-brainer, like "of course he'd do that"------ anyway, in this video, he was about 29 years old, and was drinking about 2 bottles of whiskey a day, and doing just piles and piles, and piles of cocaine, he'd mix powdered cocaine into a glass of whiskey, and would wake up drinking with that conconction....within a few months of this performance, hed have the physical/medical (a massive, life threatening, bleeding ulcer, the physiology/anatomy of his stomach was barely being held together , and he collapsed on that 85/'86 tour), and he had a mental breakdown (he was getting on the tour bus one morning, and went to say hi to his bass player, tommy shannon, , and stevie just broke down in tears crying) ...that would lead him to sobriety, he ended up in the hospital for a good while, and was detoxed there; he capitalized on that incident, and got off all the booze and drugs---- the rest is history.....epic sh#t

SRV is so great that it's hard to explain. The depth of his skill is the type where he could literally sit down, pick up a guitar and do this stuff ALL DAY.
We're all brothers and sisters, whether we like it or not. When we hurt others, we hurt our family.

What a performer! Red guitar had a bad tuner so he swapped to the white guitar that wasn't set up for this song. While he could he changed all of his pedal and amp settings. The red guitar was Lenny and had heavy strings and the white one had thinner strings so they couldn't get out of the key they started in. SRV got everything pretty good and was in the pocket and decided to channel Hendrix by playing w/ his teeth. He lost a tooth! Now, I'm guessing it was a cap or a bridge because blood isn't seen. So, you can see him mouthing that he lost his tooth and then he smiles to show it. Regardless, he runs the song just a little short and then the video stops as he starts talking about what happened. I think his tech guy found the tooth but I'm thinking that he didn't come back for the second encore that he would have. He did this song at all of his shows back then. RIP SRV THE GOAT

my 16th Birthday 2nd row center stage at this very concert.. he lost his tooth on this song t6he last song of the first set and they came back on stage a few minutes later and played 4 more songs.. this was the 2nd time i seen him out of 6

To my way of thinking, it's not really fair to try and compare SRV to any other GOAT guitarists. Because we had him for such a short period of time. We lost SRV to a helicopter crash after leaving a venue in Alpine Valley Resort in East Troy, Wisconsin. He was only 35 yrs. old, and he was in the prime of his career, and just started to gain the recognition he deserved. To compare him to GOAT's that had a full life and career isn't quite fair. And as an example of his dedication to playing the guitar and becoming great, I read he used to super glue the calluses back onto his fingers, so he could continue to play. Stevie Ray Vaughan had a horribly tragic life. He struggled with drug and alcohol addiction starting in his early teens and continuing for most of his life. After a close call with a cocaine overdose onstage, a friend admonished him that he "wouldn't live to see 40" and he went into rehab, got clean, and never touched drugs or booze ever again. In 1990, after three years of sobriety, he was killed in a helicopter crash at the age of 36.

I'm a massive SRV & Double Trouble fan after discovering them during the pandemic, but enjoy a lot of different artists, bands, music eras, and genres. Springsteen, Tom Jones, The Warning, Smokey Robinson, Gabriel Henrique, Boz Skaggs, Bob Marley, Albert King, John Farnham, AC/DC, Rush, Dire Straits, early Bee Gees, Stevie Wonder, and so many more....
Don't miss the fierce "Leave My Girl Alone" performed by SRV in Austin... And his smooth "Look At Little Sister," also at Austin. He and the band have some great music videos also to consider for reactions. My favorite is "Superstition," which is quite clever. Stevie Wonder loved SRV's playing and had him and the band record their cover of his song in his own home studio, and even appeared in a cameo at the end of their music video for "Superstition"!
If you don't know Tom Jones from his early days, consider listening to him doing the solo "I Who Have Nothing" from his TV show This Is Tom Jones, which ran from 1969 through 1971, his duet with Janis Joplin, "Raise Your Hand," also from his show, or his "I'll Never Fall In Love Again" from 1967 on The Dusty Springfield Show.
He and John Farnham rocked a cover of AC/DC's "It's A Long Way To The Top [If You Want To Rock And Roll]." Also, another you might consider reacting to is Tom's music video "If I Only Knew," or his acclaimed cover of Bob Dylan's "One More Cup of Coffee." The latter song, released as a single, was also on Tom's 2021 album that shot to No.1 on the UK album charts. The man is amazing.
And there is impromptu singing Tom does on The Voice UK, where he is a judge and coach. There is a compilation video you can see of some of those moments, or watch, for example an off-the-cuff "Cry To Me" on that show. 82 years old and Tom still has that powerful, rich, incredible voice and charisma he's shown for decades!

Just for some perspective on that speech. He references "The Mother country, down south." He was speaking of Apartheid in South Africa. The man had his personal battles with drugs, but he loved people. And it resonated so clearly in that speech and the others he gave during this song in other concert performances. SRV wasn't just a top notch musician, he was a top notch human being, and we were robbed of so much he could've shared when that helicopter crashed.

Stevie wrote this song in honor of his good friend Charlie who had passed away from a heart attack he was also Stevie’s guitar guy and the white guitar he finished the song with it name was Charlie
Stevie turned out to be an incredible friend and always carried Charlie around with him even if it was just in spirit. That's awesome!
