      i think these for mines, not for passanger trains. probably the mines dried up so they didnt need the rails anymore. imagine if they removed them completely, we couldnt see these videos : D

      @@CMDRunematti true but a lot of the mines didn't dry up. The war act shut any and all mines down that did not produce a valuable mineral needed for the war.

    This is really amazing! I live in Germany, where such adventures are almost impossible as most of the abandoned structures are eleminated/recycled very quickly - also any square meter of our country is cultivated. I spent some weekends in New York/ New Jersey ~ 15 years ago and got an impression of your wonderfull country and I understood what Americans want to say if the are talking about "Freedom"!
    Enjoy your ride!

    • @tarstarkusz
      @tarstarkusz 5 лет назад +1

      You have to realize that there are numerous US states bigger than Germany. I live in America, it might very well be that these guys are further from me than you are from people in St Petersburgh! Berlin to St Petersburgh is only 1700km. America is over 3000 miles (almost 5k kilometers). wide and better than 1000 miles (about 1600km) N to S.

    The 1908 Sears Roebuck catalog had an advertisement for a bicycle rail riding conversion, and in my early 20's I used to ride my gas powered bike (Homelite XL 925 chainsaw engine) everywhere, and built my own "rail rig" with some old crutches and inline skate wheels (and Harbor Freight Alumiweld rods 😂). I used the tracks that go from Downtown Grand Rapids, MI to Wyoming, MI to get to work successfully for about 2 years, until a Wyoming cop sternly lectured me at a street crossing...then I retired it. Good Times! I think a business for taking trips on abandoned tracks with motorized bicycles is a fantastic idea, I'd probably use my design as it folded up on the rack and you could ride it as a regular mountain bike still, and take on any terrain due to the powerful engine.
