I have to admit that when this first came out, I was on the fence about it, but after multiple listenings, I have come to love it. The sentiment that they have become best friends with each other is touching and real. Akane's drumming is so tasteful, and Kanami's solo echoes the emotion in the one she plays in "Daydreaming".
The Ladies are probably one of the most positive bands around. Almost ALL of their songs are of a positive nature, even if the subject matter is a downer, the messaging of the song is to always strive for more and better. And this song which was co-written with Mike Einziger of Incubus is about friendship and love between friends. Again the positive message.
And I love it.
I'm thinking the lyrics were meant for each other. They love each other and its genuine. That's why the line "years from now I'll still be doing this with you" appears to me to be very good news indeed. (for us!)

No Nihongo. It is Miku-chan’s first all-English written lyrics. Oh, if you watch it again, notice Saiki-san’s LONG held note into Kanami-san’s guitar solo. 😊
Great job. I can see from the posters behind that you like the more melodic side of metal. For some fans they haven't done enough of that recently, so this was a nice change.
Bestie, in the vein of other great mid-tempo Band-Maid songs like Daydreaming, Anemone, Endless Story, PAGE, Wonderland, Awkward, Start Over, Mirage, At the Drop of a Hat and Smile, was co-written by Michael Einziger of Incubus. MISA's playing and bass tone are setting new standards... and Akane's drumming is so in-the-pocket and distinguishable... and Kanami's solo is Daydreaming masterful! The recording and mix are as enjoyable as the song and beautiful MV! And Miku’s English lyrics are heartfelt. Is Band-Maid a band of fashion-forward, trend-setting Besties? 💞 Thx, Mikey, Band-Maid and Kyle!
FYI - The Maids just released a "Making of Bestie" on their websites where they explain the song and look of their awesome MV.

You've just barely rubbed the surface let alone scratched it. For you I would suggest first a couple older songs not written by Band-Maid but they Band Maidified them: Non-Fiction Days & Real Existence. Then Dice, Blooming, Warning, Shambles and Daydreaming.

When dinosaurs roamed the Earth there was a bunch of music called rock and roll. It branched out into all kinds of flavors. BandMaid can produce all the flavors at will. But overall this is rock and roll music. It is not metal. Jethro Tull is not metal even though they beat out Metallica for the Heavy Metal Grammy in 1989. So confusion about rock, good ole rock and roll, being called metal is because most people alive have never seen a proper rock band in concert. You seem to be a good egg! BandMaid = rock and roll. Much richer than Metal IMHO and not a fusion of J-pop and metal again my perspective! Thanks for reacting!
