What words come to mind? Happiness, friendship, love, and Besties. I have a core group of friends that, the first one I met was in 1990 in 8th grade. The rest I met in 9th grade at band camp preparing for the coming marching/football season. We are still friends to this day, pushing 35 years later. And "years from now I'll still be doing this with [them]". ❤❤❤❤

In the band cafeteria area of last year's Pointfest, Mike Einzinger asked Akane where the milk was. Whether you consider that the best pick-up line ever or the worst :), either way, that started the relationship between these two bands and plan for a song collab. I think I remember one of the Maids saying that "Mikey-san" came up with the main riffs, but then Band-Maid fleshed it out in their own way. It definitely trends away from their usual work, even the ballads and slower tempo songs, but it's still a beautiful song and the MV production is perfect for it.

Never heard this story before. I'd only seen the fan cam from their set at Point Fest where Mike wanders up to their monitor tech after hearing them playing, finally sneaking onto stage left and huddling down to watch their set. He took a pic with them afterwards and chatted.

100% English lyrics, brand new song that is a collaboration with Mike Einziger from Incubus. Thanks for the reaction!

Perfect driving-down-the-road summer song .The more you listen to it, the more you appreciate the complexities behind this "simple" pop song.

"A lot more English lyrics than normal" he says. Spoken like a true instrumentalist - lol

I just realized: compare the shot of Saiki in the "heavenly" clouds at 4:00 in Jules' reaction with the shot of her in front of the roiling "hellish" clouds at 0:29 in the official live video for "Hate?"
I wouldn't be surprised if this was an intentional callback by the video director, just because lyrically/emotionally the two songs are perfect opposite bookends for their repertoire. Great reaction once again, Jules!

Great reaction and breakdown Master Jules. This OMV was released on 5/1/24, after the first night they played it live, when they opened for Incubus in Japan. Mikey-chan joined them for this song. Mike Einziger co-wrote the music with the Maids as @EliseAutoXr mentioned. Lyrics by Miku. To me, this is a "radio friendly" song which could appeal to anyone, without even knowing anything about the Maids and what type of music they are known for. Love watching reactors seeing the Maids in their Angel Battle Armor after the opening riff...😂 PO!🕊 WORLD DOMINATION!!!🤘😆🤘

Written for 'radio air play'. is the feeling I get. So cool.
Love the end of Kanami's solo where she keeps dipping her shoulder into each chord change up the neck.

Good job. This is their first collaboration this year with artists they have met at Festivals around the world, in this case with Mike Einziger. On May 6th they play with The Warning in Tokyo, I would love to hear something written by both bands. The song sounds better and better every time I listen to it and, obviously, live it has the potential to be a fan favorite singing at the top of their lungs.

Jules, if this is what heaven looks and sounds like, we had better clean up our acts! LOL! This video, with the Maids dressed all in white, is beautiful and angelic. Kanami looks like an angel with wings with her lace. She also takes us into the heavens with her solo riff. Miku wrote the lyrics all in English and it's a heartfelt tribute to her bandmates, her "besties". After ten years together, the Maids have become more like sisters than just bandmates. Simply, in my opinion this is one of the best videos by the group. Everything is right!

100% English, 100% Band-Maid. It's their latest release, latest composition, co-written with Mike Einziger of Incubus only weeks ago.
All members of Band-Maid came from various "Pop" backgrounds, but all of them were raised listening to rock, and they all wanted a chance to be in a hard rock band. Band-Maid, like many J-rock bands, mixes and matches genre. (See Maximum The Hormone) I swear Band-Maid could write a lullaby with Pounding Drums and Emo Bass and still put the baby to bed with Saiki and Miku's sweet singing.
I've stopped worrying about what genre Band-Maid should be classified as, I just know that they always do their best and always surprise and delight me.

Saiki: "The off-white color worn by the members signifies the expectation for the future progress. I hope everyone can imagine how it will be colored and enjoy it together." Also Saiki, "When I listen to "Bestie", I get the image of traveling in the wilderness. I wanted to feel the same scenery and immerse myself in the world of the song with them, which is also expressed in the music video." @saiki_bandmaid 🦍🍌FYI, this is a new collab song with Mike Einziger (Incubus), Po! Expect a little 😈when they collab with The Warning. All should be included in their new full album due out this Summer, Po! PS, Kanami's solo is akin to her Daydreaming solo >😭, and Akane + Kanami's backing vocals 😇PS, It's all in (Radio Friendly) English, Po!

I think of this as Power Pop, a form that since it appeared in the 60s has returned over and over in popular music and thus can give a feeling of familiarity to people who grew up in many time periods. That plus the all English lyrics and the non-maid look of the video, to me, are an attempt to break out into the larger world's audience who haven't heard of them.

I think you summed up the vibe of the song really well at the end and elements that make it unique. I think it is a nice addition to their discography.
Looking through your BM playlist it looks like you haven't reacted to (all on their official channel)
    From Now On
    Wonderland Live
    Real Existence Live
Warning MV (there is a live but not mixed great and the MV is cool).
I would recommend From Now On next. I think you would really enjoy it.

This is Saiki balancing her emotion in Hate? with some love for true friendships (is she singing about her band members?). She picked the outfits. As a collab this is unusual in many ways -- costumes, lyrics, genre. It's a one-off -- like their Christmas acoustic concert in "normal" clothes. Band-Maid doing Band-Maid _new_ things.

Beautiful song! I believe I heard it on one of their albums. Really like the white outfits too. However------I love Misa's back assassin outfit. Great reaction Jules. I wondered if it's kind of pop too, but I like it. Still has a heavy sound to me. I noticed a lot more English lyrics too.

It's rock, but more on the melodic side, until your arse gets kicked by Kanami's solo. Music co-written with Mike Einsiger from Incubus, lyrics by Miku. Personally, I think it's f'n genius. If you want world domination, it's probably the way to go. All lyrics in English- well done Saiki. As a number of reactors have already said "It's radio ready". Similar structure to Daydreaming.

Bestie, by Band-Maid and co-written by Mike Einziger, of Incubus, is such a beautifully crafted song that is uplifting and a bit softer until Kanami’s solo which reminds everyone that, yes - this is a rock song. That said, Band-Maid is not bound by genres and simply writes music and they (Band-Maid) tries to do what is best for the individual song. Once again, they succeeded.

@@alxvdarkif I remember right, the lyrics for TDC were written by the producer’s friend. I believe this is the first song where Miku wrote all-English lyrics. I think Scott’s comment is about that. At least that is how I’m interpreting his comment. Could be wrong.
