Another funny George/Filoni interaction was George saying “of course Anakin had a padawan” and Filoni being like “but he didnt?....” At least that gave us Ahsoka
Filoni has made a decent career out of retconning Lucas’ terrible ideas into interesting side plots and tales that now outshine Georges best efforts tbh. The fact this is uploaded the same day as probably one of the most satisfying (season) finales to a Star Wars property ever is apropos & brilliant SEO synergy on Sal’s part!
@@langleymneely Filoni hasn’t exactly directed or written something as good as the OT at this point. Those first two seasons of The Clone Wars are pretty terrible and people ignore the bad episodes of that show and later Rebels. George Lucas still provided the story for the first 3 Indiana Jones movies where Filoni does get a lot more credit than he deserves at this point. I remember how controversial The Clone Wars was as it released and the vitriol directed at the show by hardcore fans as the changes kept happening.
Ahsoka still remains the biggest retcon in Star Wars history and should have been killed in Rebels by Vader since being alive during the OT and afterwards is so problematic. It was the logical conclusion to her story where it ends with her seeing a vision of the end of ROTJ and knows it will turn out well as she dies. George Lucas wanted to kill her off to end season 5 and Filoni convinced him to exile her since he can’t let go of the character. Ahsoka saying she followed a different path than Anakin is one of the biggest cop outs and existing especially during ROTJ makes Obi-Wan and Yoda idiots.
@@kcjc True, but this was a weekly basis and the beginning of season 3 outside of the clone episodes right away were said to be too political. There is serious revisionist history about the show.
@DDDA CREW It absolutely is problematic and she went from helping the Rebels to quitting. Luke Skywalker after ANH became the most famous person in the galaxy and she would have heard about him. She should be dead and people only make excuses for Ahsoka in Star Wars where Filoni doesn’t want her to die. He can’t let the character go. Anakin Solo dying heroically even though it was supposed to be Jacen worked too where this incessant need to want her to live is bizarre. Filoni teasing she might be alive during TROS makes it so much worse. Ahsoka didn’t correct Din Djarin when asked if she was a Jedi where it’s incredibly weak reasoning to say she isn’t one. You don’t have to be a Jedi to use the Force and wield a lightsaber anyways.
The best Jango Fett story is still Jango Fett: Open Seasons which was somewhat made canon in The Mandalorian and is now in The Menace Revealed Vol. 1 Epic Collection. “You were at Galidraan...tell me, how did one mere man kill so many of your kind?" "With his bare hands...” That was done as a tie-in for The Bounty Hunter video game and is so good.
Me personally? I’m down for another Star Wars Back Issues. 13:40- That’s the remains of the Scourge of Malachor. Watch the season 2 finale of Rebels and you’ll know what happened. The Sith built a superweapon to kill all life in the galaxy, and the Jedi tried to stop them. Nobody won that battle.
Actually Rebels took something from KOTOR 2 with the Battle of Malachor V which was also just called Malachor and changed it. It was the final battle of the Mandalorian Wars which turned it into a graveyard world and Filoni altered it. The canon battle is now the one referenced from Rebels, but it wasn’t an original idea.
@@Ohmargod Apparently not. Albeit Malachor V does exists (mentioned in Visual dictionary) in Disney's canon. You could say that the Scourge of Malachor, on Malachor, was built in the same system as Malachor V, since it's a powerful wound in the force/dark side nexus- and that helps power it.
For me, Maul all the way. His arc in Clone Wars and Rebels really elevated the character. He wielded the dark saber for a time after killing the leader of Deathwatch.
@@PurpleColonel In those movies he just kinda shows up with no explanation. They go into his backstory a little bit in Clone Wars. Someone should really remake those movies. The legends stories have demonstrated that the characters, if fleshed out, can actually be compelling. With enough restructuring and competent screenwriting and direction they can finally get the form and substance they deserve.
Nyeh nyeh ACKSHUALLY 12:10 Palpatine was always gross looking, he just uses the force to look normal and in epIII, Mace doesn't desfigure him, he just knocks aside the force make up mask or whatever. Hate to be one of THOSE guys but here I go... Edit: apparently, as pointed out by replies, I might be wrong and confused the canon with fan theories. From what I can tell, it's at least somewhat ambiguous if it's a mask or not because these sources either reference or directly support the Sith mask story: In The Star Wars Insider #82, Ian McDiarmid explains that Palpatine's evil visage is "what he always looked like," and that his kindlier look is just a "carapace." ROTS novelization: "And so the mask becomes the man," he sighed with a hint of philosophical melancholy. 2017 Maul comic book series: Sidious looks deformed already when he talks to Maul throughout the series 2003 Genndy Tartakovski Star Wars: Palpatine appears to have a different appereance when he is on screen as Sidious. His face is shrouded but his lower jaw and teeth look different. Either there's some seedling of truth in the supposed fan theory or continuity means fuck all in the Star Wars universe...and I think we can all agree it can't possibly be the latter..... O.O uh oh
The hardcover that collects these sells from anywhere between 70-100 now so it’s really funny how you guys don’t really like them cause they are pretty sought after
I'm getting the sense that comic pop doesn't really like anything past the original trilogy at least sal from what I've seen hates deeper lore and scoffs at anything before or after the original. I could be wrong
No matter what anyone says about the prequels, at least we got the Republic comic series, Tartakovsky Clone Wars show, and great books with the prequel era. People now just pretend Clone Wars content started in 2008 which started terribly and are more casual fans. George Lucas said on the featurette of volume 2 of the Tartakovsky show that the books, comics, and that show told the story of the Clone Wars and volume 2 was the prologue to ROTS.
@DDDA CREW You can skip essentially all of the first 2 seasons plus the awful movie along with the beginning of 3. Half of the show could honestly be skipped where you lose nothing. Only season 6 needs to be watched start to finish.
I'm too young to not have nostalgia for the prequels, but no matter my feelings towards them, I love you guys and all the jokes you make about some of the most ridiculous aspects of that era of star wars! I'd love to see you guys go over some actual decent star wars comics in the future!
The problem is that they can’t with Marvel’s output and for truly great Star Wars comics, they have to go back to the EU which wouldn’t do well for views.
Ill stick with the Dark Horse version comics Open Seasons: Jango Fett Star Wars Visionaries:"Eyes of Revolution" Star Wars Tales #10, Nameless and #24 Marked.
Good episode! I still cant tell if my innate desire to add context/explanation to the prequel ‘holes’ you guys so expertly make fun of is sad, annoying or pathetically hilarious!? Probably all three? Never in a million years would I find myself knowledgeable or giving a rats ass about anything prequel related! Thanks Disney and Dave Filoni! Lmao Bravo Tiff for “he comes from the world of Frosta Flakes”! 😂🤣
Well the Republic comic series was great along with Tartakovsky Clone Wars show and books like Yoda: Dark Rendezvous and Shatterpoint. Filoni didn’t exactly have anything to do with those and got upset at Celebration one year when he was corrected at a Q&A session by a fan with a certain character. That was funny though. The Republic series was consistently better than his show and Quinlan Vos going full Rambo to survive Order 66 along with the Battle of Jabiim were great stories. Alpha is also better than Rex and Anakin being the reason why certain clones took names worked better since he didn’t want to call the one he was working with a certain number. That was when Grievous was a threatening villain before becoming a complete joke whose big win still resulting in him losing a duel to Ventress in Filoni’s show.

From what I can tell, it's at least somewhat ambiguous if it's a mask or not because these sources either reference or directly support the Sith mask story:
In The Star Wars Insider #82, Ian McDiarmid explains that Palpatine's evil visage is "what he always looked like," and that his kindlier look is just a "carapace."
ROTS novelization: "And so the mask becomes the man," he sighed with a hint of philosophical melancholy.
2017 Maul comic book series: Sidious looks deformed already when he talks to Maul throughout the series
2003 Genndy Tartakovski Star Wars: Palpatine appears to have a different appereance when he is on screen as Sidious. His face is shrouded but his lower jaw and teeth look different.
Either there's some seedling of truth in the supposed fan theory or continuity means fuck all in the Star Wars universe...and I think we can all agree it can't possibly be the latter..... O.O uh oh
That's a fan theory.
Isn’t that just Legends continuity?
Appreciate the joke but thats not canon in the slightest. Lol
@@JinX_11199 Let’s show some respect and call it the EU.
@@langleymneely Well as the OP mentioned, it’s alluded to in the ROTS novelization. It is not outright said in it though.
I've never seen a bad star wars episode from y'all
Short answer is Durge
I always meant to ask Sal and Tiff on Off The Rack if they’ve watched Clone Wars
Sal said he didn’t watch much of Clone Wars with Benny and didn’t watch much of Rebels either.
The hardcover that collects these sells from anywhere between 70-100 now so it’s really funny how you guys don’t really like them cause they are pretty sought after
I'm sensing some disdain for the prequel era 😆
I will forever say Count Doooooku
I liked this episode so much
28:38 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
my favorite was the Padme one
Does this mean that Ethan doesn't like the clone wars show for retconning Darth Maul's death
No prequel quotes from ethan :(
No love for Durge, huh?
I’m so lame, I really like Dooku 😄
Asajj Ventress... Nuff said.
for those unaware, its obviously the leader of the Techno Union, best beats in this quadrant - ruclips.net/video/PW4OIHDsWsM/видео.html
I wonder how ComicPOP feels about the sequels lmao.
I asked Sal what he thought about the rise of skywalker on his Instagram live. He basically said the less we talk about it the better.
@@hasthehighground8560 Good, good lol.
I'm getting the sense that comic pop doesn't really like anything past the original trilogy at least sal from what I've seen hates deeper lore and scoffs at anything before or after the original. I could be wrong
Man, I guess you missed The Mando Elseworlds episode 😉
@@TheRealZubes yeah I guess I did I love the impersonations and the back issues I don't always get to watch else worlds though but I will thanks.
Maul in Clone Wars is excellent tbh
I know theyre pretty universally enjoyed but a GBU of TMNT crossovers feels imminent
I'm gonna pick Darth Maul
No matter what anyone says about the prequels, at least we got the Republic comic series, Tartakovsky Clone Wars show, and great books with the prequel era. People now just pretend Clone Wars content started in 2008 which started terribly and are more casual fans. George Lucas said on the featurette of volume 2 of the Tartakovsky show that the books, comics, and that show told the story of the Clone Wars and volume 2 was the prologue to ROTS.
I feel like you guys have not seen the clone wars and I would say please watch clone wars
I wouldn’t because there quite a few episodes that can be skipped.
@@DanV900 thats fine but there are a lot you need
@DDDA CREW You can skip essentially all of the first 2 seasons plus the awful movie along with the beginning of 3. Half of the show could honestly be skipped where you lose nothing. Only season 6 needs to be watched start to finish.
@@Fusion350_ Well roughly half.
@@DanV900 no that is not true at all season 1 and 2 have some storys that you need to see
Ever read dune? Lots of dune in Star Wars
My money is on none of them being good.
@ComicPop - How about an X-men spin off series? Books like Xmen Xenogenesis
Ill stick with the Dark Horse version comics
Open Seasons: Jango Fett
Star Wars Visionaries:"Eyes of Revolution"
Star Wars Tales #10, Nameless and #24 Marked.
