This story is even funnier if you listen to the radio drama adaptation. Since there are no comic visuals to go by, the actors need to work in explanations of the action in their dialogue. Luke will be fighting bad guys, and Han will be like "Did you see that, Leia? Luke just lifted that Imperial walker into the air! Now he's throwing it into that other tank! Oh, wow! He's generating some type of force field to protect us from the laser cannons!" LOL
30:42 "What, the Sarlacc told them?" I like this theory. The Sarlacc's just a big dirty gossip, holding a cigarette holder and clicking its tongue as it dishes.

2 years later and after watching "The Rise of Skywalker" . . .

Dengar and Fett actually become best friends in the books (well as much as anyone can be friends with Fett) to the point where Fett was the best man at Dengars wedding, and Dengar is one of the few people in the entire Star Wars Universe that Fett truly respects.
I'll say this: while this story is kinda goofy (made even more by the comedic skills of the Comic Pop crew), I still love the old Expanded Universe. I grew up reading about the fight against Grand Admiral Thrawn, the rebuilding of the Jedi Order by Luke, the devastating war against the Yuzzhan Vong, and Jacen Solo, the male twin Han and Leia had, falling to the dark side in a mirror of Anakin to protect his child, and so much more. Decades of a long narrative that is well done and entertaining to read comics and books of, play video games of, and learn about. I hate that it they replaced it with the new stuff, and I hate what Disney has made it, and so I'm glad that we got an episode of the classics. Thank you Sal and the gang for this episode.
The sequels made my love for the EU stronger

I believe in the Legends continuity Dengar was actually scarred by Han in a swoop bike race and held a grudge as a result. Don't know if that has been explored in recent stuff though.

Yeah this story has aged well, all things considering. I personally enjoyed it, thought the art style and character designs were neat. Story is alright, had a few parts that didn't make much sense, but most of it is actually pretty neat in my eyes.

This is probably my favorite Episode. The comic ain't no prize, but Sal was plugged in and killin' it that day. I've already watched it a couple of times.
I've probably watched this one and the other comic pop back issues star wars videos at least 3 dozen times since I discovered them about 3 years ago.
Luke does eventually have a son with Mara Jade. Also I liked this comic growing up, watching you guys rip into it was kinda difficult not gonna lie.
Happy to see Star Wars back on Back Issues, they're very interesting episodes because the people on the couch actually know most of the lore going in so Sal doesn't have to explain the basics to them.
I always love when the crew does a Star Wars book because I didn't read Star Wars so it's always a surprise

I laughed more watching this video than I have in a long time. I laughed out loud every time you referred to Jedi as "magical wizards." Not to mention; "This is a waking nightmare, like that song One." I lost it... I still have tears in my eyes from laughing so hard. Thank you for this wonderful episode.

This is one of the funniest episodes I've seen. Sal was killing me with the Emperor's readings. *Really* funny. Loved the episode.
Luke actually probably is with Yoda for several months. The Millennium Falcon's hyperdrive wasn't working and they had to travel to Bespin from the Hoth system on sublight engines. The planets are "close" but it's not like they're in the same solar system.

Thank you so much for this episode. I remember as a kid seeing the part of this comic where the Emperor said he cloned his body in the Clone Wars and thinking "oh yeah, the Clone Wars was a thing vaguely mentioned in Star Wars." Then I never read the rest of this story, never really knew the context, and never thought about the Clone Wars again until Yoda said that they had begun.
Hahaha!!! Yeah what a bad idea... Cloning Palpatine?? Glad THATS not canon anymore!

Watching this a few years later, it’s funny how many parallels you can draw to The Rise of Skywalker.
- The Emperor returns in a cloned body with war machines *even more deadly than the Death Star!*
- He assumes he seduces a Skywalker to the Dark Side and grants him vast resources without any proof of loyalty
- The Han Solo character has little to nothing to do the whole story.
- An old friend of the Han Solo character appears to sell him out, but then inexplicably helps him, even though *he* owes *them*.
- The Emperor keeps changing his mind on which Jedi he actually wants to seduce.
I’m sure there’s more I haven’t thought of. I mean, there’s gotta be *something* there, right? It can’t all be coincidence.

The Star Wars Back Issues have had some of my favourite moments out of all the episodes you guys have done. The "waking nightmare" of Emperor Palpatine as a self aware fetus goes right along side the "hibernating" Tauntaun as some of the very best laugh out loud highlights of an awesome show.
I would love to see some of these little moments animated!

In the old EU, Luke built a new order of Jedi, but unlike in the Force Awakens, it prospered.

Emma Kielty How so? Luke was only ever shown to be in a leadership role during the Battle of Hoth, where he led a group of snow-speeders on a poorly planned frontal assault on a group of AT-ATs.
Emma Kielty If Luke was the one who came up with that "plan" to rescue Han from Jabba's Palace, then that only reaffirms that Luke is not tactically inclined. He sent one to two people in at a time with little weaponry and no way to escape if need be. Then, he entered Jabba's Palace alone, still failing to have any intelligible exit strategy. Then, to make matters worse, he threatened a mob boss in front of dozens of armed thugs and mercenaries. The only reason they escaped alive is because they are the main characters.
Moreover, Luke was losing his fight with Darth Vader. The only reasons he won was because Vader didn't want to kill him and Luke gave in to his anger, which allowed him to briefly overwhelm him.
Maybe it's just me. But, none of that seems to indicate that Luke has his shit together.

This is one of the funniest episodes of Back Issues. I think this is a great episode to show a friend that’s never heard of the show.
You know there is an audio drama version of this story and it is so much better.
I'm not a fan of Star Wars, but the way you narrate this story makes me rewatch this episode again and again. I think I've watched this episode at least 5 times.
