  • Musician, composer, producer and A&M Records co-founder Herb Alpert is best known for his expertise in playing the trumpet, and as a trumpeter led his band The Tijuana Brass during the 1960s. On this single, however, he does a rare lead vocal, and it gave him a #1 hit on Billboard's Hot 100 chart in 1968. This Guy's In Love With You also went to #1 on the Adult Contemporary chart, and was also a hit in the UK, going to #3 on the UK Pop Charts. Through the years the song has been remade by various other artists, changing the gender in the lyrics when sung by female vocalists like Dionne Warwick.

Osborn in the seventies I'm around 50 in this song makes me cry I've never heard it before but it makes me cry, not for any particular lady. In my state we used to have oldie but goodies we have none now so I'm trying to find them Miss listen to that music the truth rather than but shaking computer made sounds and her doing her neck back and forth and jogging pants

It’s crazy that when I was a preteen in the all boys choir I bought this record on 45rpm, memorized the words and performed it for my aunt who lived in CT. It’s still one of my all time favorites. My nephew is learning trumpet and I asked him if he could learn this song so he could play it and I would do the vocals. After serenading my aunt she wanted me to stay in CT. for the entire summer. We really bonded and it was my ticket back to CT every summer so I could get out of the heat, haze, and humidity of the stink in’ city! Thanks Herb and the Tijuana Brass!

Does being heart broken at a young age hurt more than being heart broken at middle age? When you're young, it feels like the world just ended. But you're young and have energy to move on and see the sun again. When you're middle aged, all scarred and stabbed from old battles and fights, having your heart broken in middle age is much worse. Like your body, everything hurts, and takes much longer to heal. And healing is just the wound has stopped bleeding. The limp and pain remains. And when it's cold it creaks and hurts again. And you dont have the energy to go too much father anymore. This song opens up the wounds, tears apart the sutures and rips off the bandages. The sun isn't shining anymore. Everything is cold.
