- Musician, composer, producer and A&M Records co-founder Herb Alpert is best known for his expertise in playing the trumpet, and as a trumpeter led his band The Tijuana Brass during the 1960s. On this single, however, he does a rare lead vocal, and it gave him a #1 hit on Billboard's Hot 100 chart in 1968. This Guy's In Love With You also went to #1 on the Adult Contemporary chart, and was also a hit in the UK, going to #3 on the UK Pop Charts. Through the years the song has been remade by various other artists, changing the gender in the lyrics when sung by female vocalists like Dionne Warwick.

It’s gonna be my first dance song at my wedding this Saturday. Looked at other sites. How can anyone “thumbs down” this song??? OMG!!!
Well . . . how was it?
@@robertmizel137 perfect!!!
Wishing you a long and happy life together. X X X
@@mr.mrs.d.7015 Thank you so much! It was the perfect song for our dance. I’ll love that song forever ♥️
@@60sdreamer Thank you so much! ♥️
In tears listening to this song. I remember when this song came out. I was so young and naive to a lot of things. Now I'm older and I miss those days a lot. Getting older is not fun!
oh it's more fun than the alternative
@@daveydudely9954 You mean dying? I have to agree with that
Osborn in the seventies I'm around 50 in this song makes me cry I've never heard it before but it makes me cry, not for any particular lady. In my state we used to have oldie but goodies we have none now so I'm trying to find them Miss listen to that music the truth rather than but shaking computer made sounds and her doing her neck back and forth and jogging pants
I would rather get old than die young.
Even though I’ve been single most of my life, this makes me realize that’s nothing to be torn up about. Life is still worth living.
Absolutely - so beautiful I get chill bumps - thanks for posting.
Burt Bacharach jewel, one of many. RIP legend 🙌
I hope , when it's my time , I can take all my favorite songs with me , because I will have an eternity, to listen to them , !!
That would be awesome ❤
RIP, Burt Bacharach
End of an era
I love these soft songs from early 70's/late 60's...a much simpler time.
It definitely was.
You would probably like other songs written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David. Their songs were extremely popular. ❤
Mr. Bacharach, Thank you for all the songs you blessed us with. Heard most of them from my parents AM radio growing up. This Guy's in love With You performed by Herb Alpert still touches me deeply. RIP Bert Bacharach
For me each Bacharach/David song has 'its best interpreter'. This song is best when Alpert sings it.
It’s crazy that when I was a preteen in the all boys choir I bought this record on 45rpm, memorized the words and performed it for my aunt who lived in CT. It’s still one of my all time favorites. My nephew is learning trumpet and I asked him if he could learn this song so he could play it and I would do the vocals. After serenading my aunt she wanted me to stay in CT. for the entire summer. We really bonded and it was my ticket back to CT every summer so I could get out of the heat, haze, and humidity of the stink in’ city! Thanks Herb and the Tijuana Brass!
Beautiful story...I love this song too...❤
Burt Bacharach is a true master of the classics love songs. Of course Herb Alpert is an amazing artist as well.
And he didn’t want to sing it Became his only number one song until Rise in 1978-79
Simply Wonderful, a classic for all time
Have loved this song for decades!! A great modern classic
Simply SENSATIONAL!!No music in the last 20 yrs can compare to this gem!
Rest in peace Mr Bacharach.
Loved this song when it first came out and I love it today. Makes me love my one and only even more today.
Makes me love my many as well.
MY FAVORITE SONG OF HERB ALBERT!!!!
Same, and also my favorite Burt Bacharach song too. RIP Mr. Bacharach.
Great choice Jama, this was the first slow song I danced with my wife 19 years ago. Best wishes with your wedding.
The best, still tear up every time I hear this song
Same as I am listening to it now getting all teary eye!
An awesome song!
Yes, I'm teary eyed too.
How many ladies wished someone was singing this about them?
Excellent tune
Always liked Herb's interpretation either vocal or instrumental - trumpet !!
Does being heart broken at a young age hurt more than being heart broken at middle age? When you're young, it feels like the world just ended. But you're young and have energy to move on and see the sun again. When you're middle aged, all scarred and stabbed from old battles and fights, having your heart broken in middle age is much worse. Like your body, everything hurts, and takes much longer to heal. And healing is just the wound has stopped bleeding. The limp and pain remains. And when it's cold it creaks and hurts again. And you dont have the energy to go too much father anymore. This song opens up the wounds, tears apart the sutures and rips off the bandages. The sun isn't shining anymore. Everything is cold.
😢I do empathize with your pain and struggle... similarly, some of my oldest memories from my youth still sting my heart deeply. However, I am wishing all the best. ☺
I understand you ❤
I had no idea he had such a lovely singing voice!
Beautiful! Makes me teary eyed every time I listen to this song. I think of God and memories when I listen to this song. Thank You Lord Jesus for the many songs You have touched lives with.
So wonderful! (If not I'll just die...)
사랑에 빠지는 순간 이 노래가 흘러나왔으면 좋겠다...
Rest in Peace Burt Bacharach

The melody makes me cry. I loved this as a girl and all these years later I still do.
Been searching everywhere for this song and couldn't find it. Finally found it sitting outside my parents house whom both passed away.
Love this.
@Herb Alpert Since your song came out, I play it on the piano. I still have the sheet music. :)
I love Herb Alpert music ;there's special song that He play beautiful can't remember the name right now
Priceless Classic
Brilliant in so many ways 💛
One of those songs that gets me every time I listen ❤️
Great vocalist in Herp Albert. and the great team of Burt Bachrach and Hal David.
So nostalgic!
classic wonderful
A beautiful song!
Beautiful song ❤
I never knew a trumpet could be so romantic and classy
Check out Chet Baker. Not only did he play great trumpet, but he was a great singer and a looker until his heroin habit wrecked his looks.
Coltrane "My Favourite Things."
Love it
This arrangement perfect - and sings so deeply the request in love with this guy. so perfect.
Wow, this haunting masterpiece.
It's always been one of my favourite songs...
Amazing ❤
this song is the beginning of my movie
Honest, meaningful love this guy❤
Sounds like "parents music". Guess what? It is. And it kicks ass. Listen to the top 40 during the sixties. You'll get it. Peace.
A true masterpiece
Burt Bacharach, 1928-2023
Hal David, 1921-2012
Herb is a good but NOT a great vocalist, and that is almost the whole point - he is heartfelt, and he is singing a gorgeous melody, and it works SO well. This is unbelievably beautiful.
Rock n roll
This record kept the original recording of "MacArthur Park" out of the top spot of the Billboard singles chart. It took another trumpeter - Hugh Masekela - to knock Alpert off the top with Grazing In the Grass."
Oh yeah
Just remembering Carla the ex-girlfriend on our way to Tagaytay to visit my sick (now deceased) mother.
Oy vey! He sings too! Mazel Tov, Herbie!!
I worked at Penn Station

Sung less and less in today's dating climate.
