3Decades
Добавлен 25 июн 2014
Just really good music from the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, and maybe even a few songs from the 1960s and early 2000s. This is the music that made me feel good when I listened to the radio mostly during those three decades, and hopefully those who listen to these songs will feel the same way.
I have a preference for single and edited remix versions, so most of the videos I upload will be those radio-friendly versions.

DJ Jurgen presents Alice Deejay - Better Off Alone
This was one of my favorite songs of 1999, and it's by Dutch DJ, remixer and producer Jürgen Rijkers, also known as DJ Jurgen, and the Eurodance music project called Alice Deejay that was created in collaboration with Wessel van Diepen, Dennis van den Driesschen, Sebastiaan Molijn and Eelke Kalberg. Originally recorded as an instrumental in 1997, additional vocals by Judith Pronk were then included and this vocal version was credited as "DJ Jurgen Presents Alice Deejay," with subsequent pressings of the single having only the Alice Deejay credit. "Better Off Alone" became a huge hit worldwide, going to #2 on the UK Pop chart in 1999 and was a Top Ten hit in countries like Australia, Franc...

M|A|R|R|S - Pump Up The Volume (U.S. Radio Edit)
Просмотров 61День назад
A collaboration between two British acts, Colourbox and A.R. Kane, this awesome track blew me away the first time I heard it and consequently became one of my favorite songs of 1987. "Pump Up The Volume" became a ground-breaking hit that brought extensive music sampling and further development of British house music into the mainstream, going to #1 on the UK Pop chart and in countries like Cana...
Andy Gibb - One More Look At The Night
Просмотров 82День назад
This track was the B-side of Andy Gibb's single, "(Our Love) Don't Throw It All Away" that went to #9 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart in 1978. Unlike most of Andy's hit singles which were written or co-written by his brothers from the Bee Gees, this one was entirely written by Andy himself, and had really nice arrangements plus background vocals contributed by Barry Gibb. This song was actually on...
Deborah Harry - Sweet and Low (Single Remix)
Просмотров 6914 дней назад
Singer-songwriter and lead singer of the group Blondie, Debbie Harry, took this solo effort to #57 on the UK Pop chart in 1990. In the USA, the single didn't chart on the Hot 100, but became a Top 20 hit on the Dance charts, peaking at #17. The single has been remixed by English producers and remixers Phil Harding and Ian Curnow, and I liked this version more than the original album mix. This i...
Man 2 Man Meet Man Parrish - Male Stripper
Просмотров 5314 дней назад
The Hi-NRG band from New York City called Man 2 Man teamed up with cult electro producer Man Parrish and the result was this hit single that went to #4 on the UK Pop chart in 1987. "Male Stripper" actually charted twice; the first time it was released, it peaked at #64. The single re-entered the chart, this time becoming a Top 5 hit and reaching its highest position at #4. The single also went ...
Kenny Thomas - Stay

This was one of my favorite songs of 1993, and it's by English soul singer Kenny Thomas, who took it to #22 on the UK Pop chart. "Stay" is a remake of a song originally recorded in 1986 by the American R&B group called The Controllers; Kenny's superb vocals on this version go well with some nice arrangements, and I particularly like the percussion that you can hear at the start of each verse. T...
Noel Pointer - Superwoman (Where Were You When I Needed You)
Просмотров 8221 день назад
Jazz violinist and producer Noel Pointer's remake of a 1972 hit single by Stevie Wonder was the track that made me buy his album, and it's remained one of my favorite jazz instrumentals through the years. "Superwoman" was not released as a single, making it one of those tracks that I thought deserved its own single release. The arrangements used here are just outstanding, with Noel's electric v...
Lighthouse Family - Lifted

This was one of my favorite songs of 1996, and it's by the British duo composed of singer Tunde Baiyewu and songwriter-musician Paul Tucker. "Lifted" was originally released in May 1995 and went to #65 on the UK pop chart, but a year later it was re-released and this time it became a huge hit, going to #4. Love the arrangements used here, and that gospel choir heard towards the end was awesome....
Crystal Gayle - The Blue Side
Просмотров 67Месяц назад
Country music artist Crystal Gayle took this song to #8 on the Country Music chart in 1980, and to #16 on the Adult Contemporary chart. "The Blue Side" also crossed over to the Pop chart, peaking at #81 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart. I really liked this song when it came out, as the piano style echoed her 1977 hit, "Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue" and I was disappointed by its chart placing, m...
Earl Klugh - Doc

Jazz guitarist and composer Earl Klugh took this awesome instrumental track to #36 on the Adult Contemporary chart in 1980; the single almost entered Billboard's Hot 100 chart, but it stalled at # 105. "Doc" was from his 6th studio album, "Dream Come True," which earned him a Grammy nomination for Best Jazz Fusion Performance in 1981. This was one of my favorite songs of 1980, and the arrangeme...
Madison Avenue - Don't Call Me Baby
Просмотров 96Месяц назад
This was one of my favorite songs of 1999, and it's by the Australian electronic music duo called Madison Avenue. The track's catchy riff was sampled from "Ma Quale Idea," a 1980 hit song by Italian singer Pino D'Angiò. "Don't Call Me Baby" became a worldwide hit, going to #1 on the UK Pop chart and also in New Zealand and Scotland. The single reached #2 in their native Australia, and was a Top...
Whitney Houston - For The Love Of You
Просмотров 60Месяц назад
One of my favorite Whitney Houston songs is this remake of the 1975 classic by the Isley Brothers, and her version features some nice arrangements and Kenny G on saxophone. Unfortunately, "For the Love Of You" was placed on the B-side of her #1 hit, "So Emotional" and I really thought that it should've been released as a single on its own and deserved to be a bigger hit. Whitney's version was n...
Spyro Gyra - Catching The Sun
Просмотров 166Месяц назад
Here's another of my favorite tracks from the jazz fusion band Spyro Gyra, and it's the title track from their third studio album that was released in 1980. "Catching The Sun" was another crossover hit, going to #68 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart and was a bigger success on the Adult Contemporary chart, peaking at #15. I've posted the full album version here instead of the single version as my fa...

Eu amo ❤ essa musica
This music spans a lifetime class
I used to think it was a woman singing but it's actually Geddy Lee of Rush
I wish it was on itunes and spotify
Yeah, great tune!! Always looked forward to this video on MTV. Was a little obscure, not always played. Was a real treat when it would come on.
Is it possible to get a higher quality version of this?
Love love love. It's my favorite Amy song from HIM.
The summer of 1986 was glorious.
I always thought the lyric “give a little time for the child within you.” Meant that you should embrace your youth while you still have it. Now I know that it really means you need to make time in your stressful adult life to be young and free.
Ever heard of, “Power Windows” by Billy Falcon? Also, ever heard of the “new-ish” pop star Chappell Roan at all? People have compared her to 80’s New Wave artists like Toni Basil, Berlin, and Missing Persons
Stupenda fantastica ❤❤
"Let's be careful out there!" Sgt. Phil Esterhaus
Nice one! Ever heard of, “Sacred” by The Castells and, “Stick Shift” by The Duals? And, “Mystery” by The Manhattan Transfer?
All good songs--The Castells were known for their nice harmonies and that early 60s sound, "Stick Shift" was a great surfing instrumental even though it had car sounds, heh. "Mystery" was okay; the chorus sounds a bit like "Hey There Lonely Girl" though ... Anita Baker also did a version of this.
The same guys who wrote "I Like Dreamin'" and "My Eyes Adored You..."
This will stop a baby from crying whenever he or she manages to calm down and hear the sound of this song

Who heard this song for the first time in castle cat 4 ? 😎
Great track ... I changed the playback speed to 1.05 to match the version my local radio station played back in '83!
You would think Madonna
wOW. Thanks for uploading this. Loved this when it first came out.
A classic! Ever heard of, “Bring A Little Loving” by Los Bravos?
Yup, good song with a great bassline and horn arrangements
Very memorable catchy dance track in the middle of the Big hair glam pop landscape of the USA.
This entire album is so underrated
Ever heard of, “The Language of Love” by John D. Loudermilk? And, “Bye Bye Baby” by Mary Wells?
"Language of Love" was good; I'm not familiar with that song by Mary Wells
Thank you
Brings back good memories.
Love them together
❤
All I ever knew was this version. KFRC in San Francisco played this version of the song from day one. When I watched the movie and Irene performed it solo it looked like a joke .
This would be good movie/nostalgic Christmas party music !! 🎄🥳
Stunning! Thank you so much for uploading this gem! Love that song even more now...
Thanks! This is a very nice GG track, a bit underrated..deserves more plays! Adding to my playlist..
A pure disco track that inspires. I will add this to my playlist, thanks.
This takes me back to '77 when the movie came out, and all things seemed possible to 20 year old me, including falling in love for the first time, but not having the guts to tell her until after she was engaged to someone else. Gone too soon, love you, Beth.
Do you happen to know the names of the backing musicians that appear in the video, particularly the keyboardist?
I still have this 45!!! Nice groove!!!
Ever heard of, “Ta Ta” by Clyde McPhatter?
Nope, never heard of it
Chinese new year
Happy Birthday to GENE AUTRY REST IN POWER Blessings and HUGS! 👑💜
actually its kind of cool. More funky than disco-y. Must of has some jazz fusionists arrange it.
Given that most of this is Beatles tunes, for years I thought "Sugar Sugar" and the opening guitar riff of "Venus" were also Beatles songs.
Ever heard of, “Mojo Workout” by Larry Bright, “House of Bamboo” by Earl Grant, and, “The Dedication Song” by Freddie Cannon?
not familiar with those songs
