Blurb:
A reluctant bride desperate to save her family……but can she save the heart of this jaded Duke?
Kitty’s family is on the brink of financial ruin, and her hand in marriage is their most valuable asset. The spirited tomboy would rather care for her horses than tend to a husband-even if her betrothed is a dashing Duke. But to save her family, Kitty accepts the dull life of a Duchess, and the societal expectations that will surely crush her soul. Her handsome fiancé, with his extravagant stables and shared love of horses, takes her by surprise. And so does the attraction she feels with every whispered word and flammable touch. This once reluctant bride soon yearns for more than a marriage of convenience.
James Seymour, Duke of Somerset, is resigned to his fate… he will marry for duty, rather than love. Since the crushing blow of his parents’ deaths, guilt has driven James’s every decision. A quiet loveless marriage is all he deserves. But his fiancé is no simpering society Miss. With a sharp wit and an even sharper tongue, she has him bewitched and bewildered. Kitty’s joy for life pulls him out of the cold, dark shadows of regret, ready to embrace life again. But James’s stubborn streak turns Kitty’s passion to anger. And the engagement is broken-along with his heart.
James is determined to win back the only woman he’s ever loved… before it’s too late. Can Kitty forgive James and give him a second chance?

Wonderful story people shouldn’t be so bothered by the historical and accuracy. It’s the story that makes us feel good not all of the little facts.
Thank you!
If looking for historical accuracy there books written precisely for the purpose. Certainly these readings are not for enlightenment on history or traditions, rather they are for entertainment and for the purpose it is very nicely done. Thank you. Specially for being free.
Well said!
Love Catherine Bilson as a narrator. Thank you so talented, wonderful Author, and brilliant narrator

You're welcome 😊
Thank you very much for sharing! Greatly enjoyed!
Our pleasure!
Her mother wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed....why would you keep thatet alone bring it to the other man's house. Ridiculous.
Thanks. Love the story ❤❤❤
So glad!
A writer with a lot of talent and potential. A very good narrator. But a terrible product - I couldn’t make it past an hour. So many factual and historical mistakes..when writing an historical novel, the research ( and editing) is no less important than the writing I guess.
Then you missed the worst of it. A passable early exercise in writing? Yes. A believable Regency tale? Nope.
Thank you for sharing your book on audio. I'm enjoying it greatly
So glad!
Let her and her family wallow in poverty and her father in debtors prison. He is a Duke and rich most woman would consider themselves grateful just to be in his presence .
Thank you for a lovely story.
Thanks for listening! :)

Apparently, women were riding horses as early as 1382 (side saddle). So I'm not sure why a woman riding a horse (unless it was astride, like men) was regarded as peculiar, in the setting of this story?
Riding was about the only outdoor sport apart from walking that was permitted a lady. Before the sidesaddle was invented there was a strange saddle with a wood plank for the feet to rest on for women, in the 17th century if a woman wanted to ride she would most likely ride astride with very long skirts, only the very wealthy would get away with that. Attitudes changed during the 18th century and the introduction of a dedicated designed sidesaddle.
Exactly! I’m confused about the mother’s attitude about something that was quite acceptable.
Thought it was OK if she rode, but her mother didn’t like it her mother was a bit odd
That is the smallest of the gigantic plot holes in this book.
@@jennamakesbugs I guess we have to remember it is fiction. 🙂
It should be earl and countess of dunn as titles. Unless the marriage was morganitic. It wouldn't be lord and lady dunn, that's a different title entirely. And before introduction no one is called by the first name, she would be miss xxxx or lady xxxxx and not the first name
It's a story. Jo need yo get technical. I'm enjoying it great.
@@rosemarykorff9738 not being technical, factual. If you're basing as story on history get things right, it's not rocket science.
I agree. It's a sign of laziness by the author and the publishers that they couldn't be bothered getting historical facts right.
