I think everyone constantly forgets that L is just a smart dude while Light is a smart dude with a death god and supernatural book, the odds were always against L but he knew Kira was light, it’s just hard to explain to a court that death gods are giving notebooks to teenagers to kill people just by writing their names😂
It's probably why they never revealed his death to the public + apparently they would have privately locked up Light forever from all outside contact, if they were not gonna execute him themselves
L could have simply killed light but he was working under law. Even near cared to see Minami writing all of their names just to show the foolish task force that light is kira
@@MR_NOBODY61Near is not as simple. There’s a theory that’s explained in the manga that he used the death note on Mikami to achieve the ending. I like to believe it because it would be better thematically that Near is not as morally strict as L and had to “cheat” in order to beat Light

When L figured out that Misa is Kira 2, he knew she would try to contact Light.
For back up he gave the order to capture her as soon as possible.
Misa indeed came to Light and to prevent her from talking to Light, L said he's her fan for other people to notice.
The commotion prevented Light from talking to Misa. In the same commotion L took Misa's phone pretending he's a pervert.
And when Misa's agent took Misa from all the people, she was captured before Light could contact her.
And without Light knowing about all of this, he fell for all of L's tricks, he confirmed L that he's Kira instantly after he called Misa.
After all, he already has a girlfriend, why would Misa all of a sudden have such interest in Light?
And Light's 2nd attempt to call Misa failed, as L earlier gave the order to capture her.
L was always so much steps ahead of Light, while fighting against supernatural force and against 2 Kiras.

Because of Ryuk, Light knew that he’s being followed by Ray Penber. They also had the power to make the owner of the notebook forget literally everything about the notebook which is a huge game changer. Rem, on the other hand, literally sacrificed himself to kill L. and you say that Light’s keeping up with him? that’s funny shit. L is far far more smarter than Light in every aspect of it. yes i agree though that Light is intelligent as well. but his intelligence is not always the one at play whenever he is keeping up with L. it’s more of the supernatural powers that comes with it that Light manage to be able to keep up with L. L literally has no supernatural powers. He’s literally a human being with genius intellect.

L knows who Kira is, knows that there are 2 gets lied to by supernatural beings, all the while trying to find proof beyond a shadow of a doubt that he is correct so the police can make the arrest. I am a huge fan of fictional detectives, from Holmes to Batman, to Poirot, but L is my all time favourite. I still wish it had been him and not Near to see Light's demise but Near is some ways is probably more of the perfect counter.

@@MomazosDoritosMisa was the only reason Light got caught. Light and L we’re in a stalemate; both too smart to reveal themselves. Light puts his trust into Misa because he has to which leads to him getting caught here. The same trust he put into Mikame which leads to what happens to him at the end of the series. Light was forced by outside circumstances to reveal himself to others that thought less methodical about their actions then himself, which is what leads to him getting caught. If these people weren’t introduced he couldn’t have been caught.

No cause I need more of these moments of L trolling and Light getting salty UGHH I wish their interactions as L and Kira weren't so limited because of Misa's interference, think how interesting the progression would be without her and all the ridiculous things that would happen during the investigaton
When Misa came into the picture and once they started talking in Light's room, I literally skipped it. I will admit that Misa does get smarter as the show goes on, but at the same time, once you compare all her scenes and pare them to the story and see what she would have changed, the only thing she did was get evidence of that other guy later on being the 3rd Kira. And even then, L knew it was one of the main board members, and since some of them were being killed by the 3rd Kira, it limits down their options and they would have found out eventually. So yeah, Misa is kind of useless.

Of all the moments in Death Note, this was Light at his most absolute braindead
I get he was getting a throbbing rager in his pants about ending it fast, but dude should've had patience, and even then if L dies and the last known person was Light, Light would be the obvious Kira
So why he didn't order them to capture Light as well after all of this evidence? Doesn't this itself show he's still not that smart though? Or is he worried about Chief Yagami' heart?
