    If I told you how many times God had to pull me out of so many stupid freewill decisions I made and many were long term addictions, your hair would curl. Jesus Christ never let me go. From when I was 5 years old and walked out of my house when my dad told me to “shape up or ship out”. I took my jacket and walked to the top of the block. My dad was behind me came and took my hand in his and we walked home. Rebellion was all I ever knew. Praise Christ He never let me go. At 63 I am His.

    Yes our “freewill” can send consequences into our lives. I Think as we grow in our Christian life, we cling and long for Gods wisdom more. That’s why it’s so important to seek His ways and not the worlds❤️
    Great video Alana!
    This might really be a strong testimony to a young person that is in the same situation right now😊

    Voodie doesn't beleive in Free Will, so why would he encourage a student to practice free choice? Strange, but then again a broken clock is correct twice a day!

      @@AlanaL3 So glad you told me. I'm a fan of yours and listened to your journey re: MacArthur. I followed him for nearly 35 years, but to my shame, I never really discerned his 'preaching' correctly. It was like, "whatever MacArthur says has to be correct because he's sounds so wise". What a blind sheep I was. I never really knew what reformers believed and I attended a Reformed Bible College a year after becoming a beleiver. Now I know reformed teachers are extremely crafty and covert in their tactics to get insecure believers into their web of deceit until you're so brainwashed that many don't even open their Bible when reformers preach their nonsense. God forgive me for my laziness. Better late than never! Sorry for the rant. Blessings.

    Today it seems like many Calvinists worship their doctrine over God by the way they are so dedicated to defend it. Maybe it's because of Spurgeon's proclamation that Calvinism is the gospel. He would have been correct had he said that it is "a" gospel, a false one at that. Paul warned about those who preach another gospel in Galatians 1.

    • @Christ-is-King-

      What Spurgeon said was “ if anyone should ask me what I mean by a Calvinist, I should reply, He is one who says, salvation is of the Lord. I cannot find in scripture any other doctrine than this. It is the essence of the Bible.

    if you read this, I would like to say something. And I pray you honestly hear my heart in this, I don’t want to come off as rude or mean, please understand my heart.
    I was born and raised Pentecostal, then I came out of that and the was a baptist, then a Calvinist, and now I’m somewhere inbetween all that lol. I would like to say, that I’ve heard your story, I’ve watched a lot of your videos and even seen your comments on other videos that aren’t you videos.
    And here’s what I want to say ultimately…. Thank you for being one of the few people that don’t yell and scream and make straw men out of those your disagree with. While I have heard you say things calvinists believe that I don’t know any Calvinist friend of mine believes (such as faith being a work. I don’t think I know any Calvinist that believes that.) not to say you’re lying or anything.. I’ve just come to realize that there is a large spectrum of views in any “framework”, and idk if that’s the right word for it.
    But when it comes to scripture, I personally don’t like when people will call Calvinism heresy, or Arminianism heresy, cause if you talk to individuals they will often have slight tweaks to what you might call “Calvinism” or whatever.
    People like voddie, or John piper. You can see their heart when they speak, they aren’t trying to deceive anyone. From what I see so long as you start with getting the Gospel correct… I’m fine, everything else can be a discussion, but both sides can be very dogmatic about very small things. And I hate seeing those who believe the gospel be at each others throats all the time.
    You have helped me realize that I can be very hateful in my own heart if I hear something I disagree with, which is wrong. but I know that I won’t have to give an account to you, but God.
    I believe we will all get to heaven and realize we all got something wrong.
    I hope I didn’t come off as mean, I genuinely am grateful for your story. And how it’s helped me even reflect on my own heart to see if I’m sinning in my heart. So thank you.
    Also, from someone whos still kinda leaning towards Calvinism.. ignore those people who tell you to repent cause you believe in “free will” as if that makes you a heretic or something. Just keep doing what you’re doing, search the scriptures. Love God and love others.
    God bless you, I hope you have a blessed day! 😎👍🏼

      Thanks! Yes I totally don’t take offense to your comment. I agree! There’s so much we are all probably wrong about and so many things that aren’t that important. My main hang ups is Gods character and what Jesus did and for who;)
      Thanks for your mature approach. I agree there needs to be sooo much more peace and kindness. It’s just plain stupid to call each other heretics. Let’s talk like adults and allow room for entertaining ideas without necessarily accepting them. Others thoughts are worth listening to.

    • @kamronlamar1887
      @kamronlamar1887 Год назад +4

      @@AlanaL3 I’m glad I don’t come off as offensive. I agree with you, it does seem to be about Gods character. I do believe that God allows some to believe different things, so that individuals can reach different people with the gospel. For instance, I wouldn’t have found your channel or videos if you hadn’t come out of Calvinism.. and In like manner I wouldn’t have come out of Pentecostalism if not for John MacArthur and his teaching.
      Not to say you like him or anything, or that he’s correct in everything. I disagree with some of his theology. But God has used both of you to help me.. all while ultimately I had to go to scripture to come to the truth. MacArthur isnt the authority, I’m not, Charles spurgeon isn’t.. but scripture.
      Honestly that’s why I’ve hesitated to go either way on anything. Cause there are crazy people who have made MacArthur their idol. And that’s not right, we should all understand that God is using everyone for his purpose. Will we understand what all that means 100% this side of heaven? I don’t think so.
      I’m still learning. And have learned to test all things, and hold to scripture.

      Hi Kamron, awesome reply. Thanks for your sincere heart in Him in how you are looking at things and interact with others. I too come from 25 years of Macarthur's church (having been a member of his church). Although I am no longer a Calvinist, I still greatly appreciate many of my brothers and sisters in Christ who are reformed...as well as much respect still to many reformed theologians, pastors, and teachers.
      I just wanted to comment on your observation of "faith as a work." As I recall from some of Alana's prior videos she had noted it as such in how she framed a contrast to how Calvinists view faith. I believe there is a bit of a disconnect in meaning as it translates. What I understand Alana to mean is that "from the free will persepctive" Calvinists would see a free will choice to place faith in Christ for salvation to be a work. Not that Calvinists go around thinking their understanding of saving faith is a work. Merely, that what those who believe in free will and put faith in Christ, would be understood by reformed thought to be human effort or work or something we do. And in that sense, Alana would understand reformed thought to be viewing a free will person's view of faith to be a work (at least as far as how a Calvinist might view it). If that makes sense? So in her estimation, I believe she is understanding correctly in that that is kind of how it is thought about from several discussions with my Calvinists friends. Not that they believe faith is a work, but that they think i do. lol.
      In hopes to bring some clarity to this "same word...different meaning" conundrum, it would be helpful to clarify what reformed thought thinks about Eph 2:9. If you go to Gotquestions? "Where Does Faith Come From," you will see they believe faith is a gift from God, not just grace or eternal life...but faith (Gotquestions is a well respected commentary very popular online and led by reformed perspective). If we look at gty.org on what John Macarthur believes, we see he also holds the same view about faith being a gift from God: "The Nature of Saving Faith" -- January 17th 1988 (Jmac).
      From the best sources i can tell, "faith" is not meant as "the gift" but that salvation in grace is the gift. The irony is, even though I am not a Calvinist, John Calvin agrees with my position on this:
      John Calvin Ephesians 2:9 commentary:
      "But it is still more absurd to overlook the apostle’s inference,lest any man should boast. Some room must always remain for man’s boasting, so long as, independently of grace, merits are of any avail. Paul’s doctrine is overthrown, unless the whole praise is rendered to God alone and to his mercy. And here we must advert to a very common error in the interpretation of this passage. Many persons restrict the word gift to faith alone. But Paul is only repeating in other words the former sentiment. His meaning is, not that faith is the gift of God, but that salvation is given to us by God, or, that we obtain it by the gift of God."
      I hope this helps clear up the confusion that can surround the context of this issue. And even though we may share different views upon...blessings...and thanks for your heart in Him.

      I know you didn't ask me but thought perhaps this would help.
      I use the NIV, as when I got saved 43 years ago it was the only Bible version in my native tongue "ENGLISH". I wouldn't ever recommend the old King James Version as it is handy capping it's reader with none modern, English words.
      I lived through many King James Only battles which were just to stupid to even talk about. They worshipped the version!
      So what I would recommended as strange as it might sound is the "New King James Bible."
      It is an excellent translation totally in our English tongue. The other plus is that you won't have to deal with the Old King James version worshippers as much, as even many of them have switched.
      My 2 cents.

      I would add, that the ESV is so slanted that it has become known as the "elect standard version". It is the version I use when arguing with my Calvinist brothers and sisters. All have stengths and weaknesses. I prefer the CSB.

      Unfortunately, nearly every Bible has the translator's theology on its pages. What most people aren't aware of though is that they're also under copyright, meaning they're not truly the property of God's people. That's why I always recommend either the World English Bible or the KJV, both of which have no copyright.

    • @AlanaL3
      @AlanaL3  Год назад +2

      I really enjoy the NASB but KJV is the only translation the church /body of Christ still “owns” so that’s pretty powerful reason to refer to it often for me as well.

    • @osasosas2982
      @osasosas2982 Год назад +1

      @@AlanaL3 The King James Version uses the received text, Textus Receptus which means the texts were passed down from generation to generation and were never buried. New versions use dead sea scroll and septuagint which are texts that were buried and would not have been discovered if it were not for modern archeology. what was buried was meant to stay buried and God promised that He would preserve His word. This is why i read only the King James Bible. btw, I'm indian from Malaysia and english is my second language. its not that hard to read the KJV.
      Other reasons why I read KJV:
      Modern versions have missing verses. Some versions straight up remove them. Some versions have references that say something along the lines of "These verses were not in the oldest manuscripts". Oldest referring to the buried texts.
      Modern versions change verses. 1 Corinthians 1:18, 1 John 5:7, Micah 5:2, Luke 2:33, etc. Read those verses in the modern versions and compare them to KJV.
      Modern versions are almost always copyrighted. Meaning people make money out of it. this includes NKJV. Whereas the KJV is public domain.
      Pretty much most third world language bibles are translated from the KJV. what does this mean. The devil knows that most people who read the bible are english readers. So if he wants to corrupt the text, he would definitely go for english than other languages.
      Modern versions are not translated by people who can speak the original languages. The scholars who translated the KJV were experts in multiple languages. Each one of them. and there were 54 of them. the greek new testament can be read by people who live in greece. However, the biblical scholars say, the greek new testament is written in biblical greek which is a made up language that modern greek speakers in greece do not understand. biblical scholars cannot speak a single sentence in greek and im not gonna trust them to translate my God's words into my language.
      modern versions are profit oriented.
      modern versions are constantly changing. The NIV itself is in its 3rd edition i think. The KJV never had iterations. even the 1769 version that we use now only has updated spelling and the words are maintained.
      ditch the easy sleezy ESVs and NIVs. Read the real deal, the KJV.
      oh btw, try reading John 3:7 in KJV and the other modern versions. the KJV says a completely different thing than what the modern versions say. I challenge you to figure it out. Anyway, I hope you give it some thought. God bless
