Short video of our departure from Santiago de Chile.
Take off is from runway 17R. shortly after take-off we make a right turn over the pacific heading north to Quito.
Being very light (~230 tons), it only took 13 minutes after take-off to the cruising level of FL400.

It's so deceptive, when you're looking out the window in front you're like "he can't be going more than 30 kts" and then suddenly, nose up.
When you zoom in for a distant object you lose the sensation of speed.
Can be the frame rate of the video and the size of dashed line?
i agree, it takes roughly 20 secs to lift up the nose which is quite quick :0
I thought the same at first, but when I went back and looked at it a few more times, I stopped focusing on the middle striping and allowed myself to view it in a more overall sense in terms of changing scenery in front of them and as if I was in there, then I got a better sense of the takeoff speed.
My first flight was on a wide body Delta Lockheed L-1011 in 1979
and I couldn't believe we were at takeoff speed when we started lifting..I kept thinking "are we just driving down the runway for fun or what". and the fact we were using the shorter North-South runway (New Orleans) made it even stranger.
Just seems like that because the aircraft is so big and the nose is so high up
it's just amazing how slow it looks from inside going down runway lol but when you stop seeing runway threw the windshield you know it's flying time!

What's to be afraid of, carmine? My Grandma, God rest her soul, was killed crossing the street by someone who just wasn't looking. Planes are MUCH safer than all of the "normal" traffic accidents we have to live with. Take care, and enjoy your next flight! :-)

It sounded like the engines were at half-power( for taxiing ), instead of full power, on takeoff. I'm surprised it got off the ground.

Hello, Captain. Love all your vids! I was curious about some functionality in the airplane: Does pressing the TOGA buttons on the thrust levers engage the auto-throttle servos and automatically move them forward to the selected takeoff N1, or is it required to push them forward manually after engine stabilization? The cockpit and ground views for the takeoff don't seem to add up At lightest, you will need a 4000 foot takeoff run and an extreme headwind to get the bizarrely slow groundspeed rotate shown here. In this case you can see from the approaching taxiway on the left that they hardly cover 600m before the nose lifts. Even if the centre lines are 20m long and 10m apart-a generous estimate-they only pass 20 of them before rotate, say 600m max, Not bad but not perfect conditions for a quick takeoff-field altitude of 500m and hot conditions indicated by the bright sun ,the haze also indicates little wind. Unless there was an aircraft-carrier level of headwind - steaming at 30kts and almost VSTOL capability, this aircraft seemed to rotate with less than full power at taxiing spoed, maybe 40 kts? But maybe cockpit height and zooming are deceptive, as suggested.

I'm always concerned that the plastic knobs are going to snap off.
I'm not knocking the pilots, but when I watch these films, the operating hardware controls and gadgets in the cockpit and the sounds they make seem rather small and flimsy like from some kids toy and could easily break.....

Wait I think your right. FL400 is a bit too high for cargo carriers.
Rocko They were light, so they can climb to higher altitudes. It is also more fuel efficient to cruise at higher altitudes when appropriate.

Is it just me, or did it seem to be going awful slow and the run was very short for a plane that size?
WOOW this two are great pilots. They're able to make take off planes at very low speed. This is great because fuel consumption is very low and it's safer. Ahahahah
So do the pilots just put in the coordinates like an address on a gps and it goes There? Lol I'm kind of confused cuz the pilot wasn't touching the wheel at all
They put all the airport,waypoint and airways in the fms(the computer with green text and keyboard),the yoke(wheel) is moves by itself when controlled by the autopilot.
