This song is just so relatable to me. As I sit here as a 16 year old about to turn 17, I find this song represents what I’ve been going through all too well. Especially the lyric “you fell in love, but then you just fell apart,” that hit me right in the gut. It may have been a little while ago, but I’m still navigating the fallout of a breakup, and the guilt of the shitty choices I made in it's aftermath. Something about the song just sums up all the emotions of pain, uncertainty and shame that I’ve been facing as of late. While I may be critical of the trilogy, I have to admit it has some pretty kickass songs. And this is one of them. Green Day will forever be my favourite band.

I've been there man, I was the exact same age as you are now. Things will get better, even if it takes a long time. It took awhile for me to get better. My failed relationship taught me some things I needed to know, and showed me things I needed to see. So for me at least, there was a silver lining.

Greenday fan since the 90s and in my forties now. Failed marriage and shitty decisions too. Life only gets better with what you put into it. You have a lifetime to figure things out but the first lesson is be easy on yourself cause no one else will

Buddy i dont know you, but i can say that i wish i told myself these words when i was younger. Just remember dont lose who you are, you still got a lot to discover about yourself, and it does get better. I find that hard to believe myself, but you'll be alright kid.

    Hey, little kid
did you wake up late one day?
You're not so young, but you're still dumb
and you're numb to your old glory,
    but now it's gone.
    I fell in love,
but it didn't catch your fall.
Then I crashed, to a wall
Then I fell to pieces on the floor.
    Now you're sick to death.
    Bombs away!
Here goes nothing, the shouting's over.
    Hey X-Kid, bombs away!
Here goes nothing, the shouting's over and out,
    over and out again.
I once was old enough to know better
then I was too young to care.
    but who cares?
I probably would but Hollywood is dead and gone
    You fell in love,
but then you just fell apart.
Like a kick in the head,
    you're an X-Kid and you
    never even got started again.
    Bombs away!
Here goes nothing, the shouting's over.
    Hey X-Kid, bombs away!
Here goes nothing, the shouting's over and out,
    over and out...
And you were searching your soul
and you got lost and out of control.
You went over the edge of joking,
    died of a broken heart!
    Hey, little kid
did you wake up late one day?
You're not so young, but you're still dumb.
You're an X-kid and you never even got started again.
    Bombs away!
Here goes nothing, the shouting's over.
    Hey X-Kid, bombs away!

    Hey X-Kid, bombs away!

To be honest, I feel what they were going for this trilogy... They had so many songs that were alright and they didn't wanna waste them out, so recorded them and released them to fans.. They didn't really care for hits or etc, if so they would make actually big budget videos for some of the songs.. Like "nuclear family" they are kind of "Yeaa let's put a video there.." . I love Green day, Love this trilogy.. I'm glad they did it like this, now we have 30+ decent songs to listen.. And Not one of them (maybe not "See You Tonight :D) is disgusting.. All of them have some effort put in.. And you'll feel the groove of all, one day..

    • @saintjimzo
      @saintjimzo 8 лет назад +3

Reşat Yıldırım i feel the same way but i actually dont dislike a song from the trilogy, people call it filler crap, i dont think that at all. its a blast to go back and listen to them again.

+xkid jimmu I wasn't even a green day fan.. But one day on "deezer", on headlines "Green Day - Revolution Radio- New Album".. I was wondering, so I listened some of the songs, actually liked them and bought the album.. Then when I was done with this addiction after 3 weeks or so, I found out this trilogy, it's been 3 weeks but still not bored of them :D I play electric-guitar, and trying to learn this song now :) (By the way I know "American Idiot" etc , their hit songs before of course :)

This song saved my life. I was 14, snuck out of my house in the middle of the night hoping to go get a bottle of Tylenol from the convenience store about a mile from my house, hoping that night would be my last night on earth (reference?). I successfully got the pills and was walking alone (reference 2?) back to my house with my spotify playing on my phone and my headphones in, when this song started playing. I got home and just sat in my floor and cried. I still have that bottle of pills wayyy up high in my closet, my parents still don’t know about that night. I’m still here because of these guys, and they’ll never know.

This song was written in response to the 2009 suicide of a close friend that Armstrong grew up with in Rodeo, CA. However, the song is as much about the entire "Generation X" (those born from roughly 1960-1980) as it is about this one specific tragedy. Billie Joe has repeatedly identified himself as an "Ex-Kid" in recent interviews. The narrator is able to relate to his late friend, in that they were both "Ex/X-kids." But, he was able to push through the struggles that came with growing older, while his friend was not. His friend, unfortunately, found an escape in suicide, thus the line "Here goes nothing, the shouting's over." The narrator sees facets of himself in his late friend. He feels as if, sadly, there wasn't much that could have been done to help his friend, though he wishes someone could have found a way to help him before it was too late.

Back when I went to in person middle school, I could always count on Green Day & Bowling For Soup to provide me a brief escape from the torture my classmates wrought upon me.
If not for this band, I might not be here typing this message. Thank you Green Day; For everything.

"This song was written for an unnamed pal of the band who committed suicide. Bassist Mike Drint explained to UK newspaper The Sun: "It was a friend of ours who took an early exit. He was a very close friend and he just never grew up. He just lived with his glory days behind him and didn't realize that his glory days were now in front of him. We love him dearly but life happened."" according to songfacts

This song is actually about a kid in Billie's Kid's class who was born with a dick and a vaj, but his *lesbian* parents removed le dick. Kid grew up and turns out he's gender neutral/Trans. Whoopsie. So the kid calls himself by noun-names like Storm or Train.

You could start by learning the notes on the staff, major and minor scale structure, then learn how to make triads and their variations. A lot of it, if not all, can be found on wikipedia. A good site that generates chord progressions and gives a preview is: autochords.com

If Green Day had taken all the best tracks from Uno, Dos and Tre and made one album containing 12 tracks - they'd have created a masterpiece. Instead they insisted on some kind of gimmick and ended up with 3 mediocre albums. This song is fucking fantastic and will go mostly unheard, unfortunately.

You call it a "gimmick", but I find it to be a really neat concept that just wasn't properly executed. The idea of three albums telling the story of a wild night out at a party and then the comedown from that night is great imo, with the first album representing the hopes and expectations of what the night will bring, the second being the actual party, and then the third detailing the morning after along with the hangover that accompanies it. I LOVE the concept and it was refreshing to get a more lighthearted affair after the previous two albums, but unfortunately it had quite a few weak spots. If they had more time to properly write it, I think it could've been a great success for them. But as it is, if you take the truly great songs from the three and combine them into one, you've got one hell of an album.

Do you know what annoys me about music these days? Every good song needs a music video to be 'successfully'. Taylor Swift's song 'bad blood' came out on her album in October and no one gave a shit about it but then she makes a high budget music video in May, 6 months later, and everybody suddenly gives a shit. It really annoys me because green day and so many other artist would have so many more huge hits but because they don't make a music video they don't...

+Kayla Follett - Monk You're completely wrong. Taylor Swift sells ridiculous amounts of records, regadless of her music videos. Also, the "good songs" are called singles, it's been a concept ever since music became an industry. And since the dawn of music videos, most singles are accompanied by a music video. Just because Green Day skipped the high polished music video schpiel for one record cycle doesn't mean they don't do it either, they very much do.
And Green Day is one of the single biggest, most successful rock bands of our time, you sound as if they should be more famous than they already are.
