Not really... They learned nothing from this interaction. They just memorized the phrases, but didn't understand a single thing, they or he said. And due to Japanese customs they'd never admit not understanding anything towards a gaijin, and thus you can't even help them with it. They'll just pretend to understand and change the topic... @@HouseMDaddict Yeah haha that happens when you learn the language trough certain useful phrases. After that writing was a easy because I could just know what felt wrong vs what felt right. I say this like it was a master plan but I dont think I can ever replicate this in my life because it was totally accidental and born from the desire to read the stupid crap my friends sent in english.

I'm a solo woman traveler who visits Japan often. One day in Tokyo, I was busy playing at a game arcade. Then a little boy of about 6 years old, who was watching me play, fell down. I quickly got up to help the boy on his feet and continue playing. About 15 minutes later, I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned around and saw the boy with a small pack of tissues and a small box of chocolates. He handed them to me and told me thank you in Japanese. Behind him was his mother, thanking me, bowing and smiling at me. :)
this is how most of people around the world go through English in their schools (which is about getting good grades and not the desire for learning) I remember classmates in elementary writing down scripted conversations from textbook they should learn in native Cyrillic script, memorising butchered pronunciation and obliterating the meaning Even then it was something barbaric to me, and now it's just funnily dumb
I visited Disneyland Paris years ago and attempted my best to say all thirteen phrases, then getting bombarded with chaos of native speaking French trying to have a conversation with me. Long story short, I enjoyed my trip but realized that I'm not good at learning other languages.
Lol if I think of that as a student the perception of "nothing learned " is real. But as a teacher you can see they're practicing approach, pronunciation, you're exposing then to native speakers which has a lot of value and they're also practicing level 1 phrases to get used to the language. Love from México
@blam9319 They are practicing their English. Them both speaking at the same time allows them both to practice their English without wasting the dudes time taking turns pronouncing the same thing
@@KillianTwew practise my rats posterior......these kids are literally learning nothing, or even attempting to learn anything, all they are doing is repeating some lines that they have rote memorised by heart a thousand times before this, and simply going through the process and collecting "signatures" as proof of completion. they arent even gleaning anything from the small interaction or attempting to genuinely engage in the interaction, the look on their faces just says "im being forced to do this for a school assignment, cant be bothered, lets just get this over with" if these kids were on roblox or minecraft and attempting to communicate with foreigners in broken language, they would probably learn more from it.
@SG-ho7xb bruh I didn't say calling japanese people polite was dehumanizing. I was saying just calling them japanese instead of japanese people. There's a difference like how bad calling someone Jew is but Jewish person is the polite way. Use your brain cells for once in your life
Its so funny because there is no way an ameerican kid would be assigned to do tge same thing, nor woulf someone from Japan have to deal with something like this for tge same reason
It’s not that, it’s because the way they were taught was memorisation- they don’t actually understand the English. They learnt the sentences, like an actor learns a script. So when he says “do you know how to spell that?” they have absolutely no idea what he’s saying, so they ignore it lol. That’s one issue with the Japanese way of teaching
@@Justhppy2behere crazy how in medieval times it took only about 5 years of learning to be fluent in every major west euro language plus Latin but nowadays almost two decades of education can't teach children even conversational English
No clue where this is at but there's a place in Japan where the deer live close to people and typically aren't afraid of humans. This might be that place, idk lol.
Even in Jharkhand, many zoos allow you to openly meet deer... It depends on deer they want to get touched or not... Btw, not every forest has Salman Khan, so they keep deer alone😂
Deer are mostly chill if they are used to living near people that don't hunt them. I can walk 10ft away but some at my place and feed them berries. But they're looking mighty tasty so I might have to eat them eventually.
This is in Nara, one of several ancient Japanese capitals. There are approximately 1200 tame deer there that will actually bow their heads before you feed them.
This actually happened to me in Mexico, in a park where the children would come up to you so they could practice their English. It's unfortunate that if this were to happen in the United States and you were talking to a child in a park, just imagine the consequences. Its a sad day when we are becoming afraid of interacting with others. And that our children in the US are afraid of everything and everyone.
That’s so dope that’s definitely a school activity I remember we used to do it but it was in the classroom getting to know each other nice to see it’s still going on else where🖤
We lived in Japan for 3 years. We went to a park and this japanrse boy came up to my son and asked "Will you play with me?" They played for about 30 min and the boy bowed to my son and said "Thank you for playing with me". They are so polite.
For real though. I met a Japanese family when I was a kid on holiday and I was good friends with the sister, but the brother was really mean to us, or at least, I think he thinks he was mean 😂 He was still so polite though, I only knew he was picking on us based on his sister's reaction. I'm Scottish, we're meaner than that to our grandparents 😂 polite meaning comments don't even register as mean for me 😂
A very good idea for learning English. The children were very polite. They're not ignoring your question, they just don't understand. It's lovely that you spend time with these students. Those of us who are learning English really want to talk to native English speakers
This is how I felt learning Chinese. I wanted to get a pen pal or something in China to learn it better, but surprisingly haven't met very many Chinese people or speakers (despite now living right under China's butthole.)
This has been happening in Japan before Japan become a social media trend. I've done 2 exchange programs there years ago, been another 4 times prior to covid. Family in Kyoto. If you look white and go to temples or smthn you get approached by kids... it's happened to me so many times lol
Must be from an english speaking country where you are at least the third generation immigrant. But for the rest of the world speaking 2 or 3 languages is pretty normal to the point we don't even think about.

Not really...
They learned nothing from this interaction.
They just memorized the phrases, but didn't understand a single thing, they or he said.
And due to Japanese customs they'd never admit not understanding anything towards a gaijin, and thus you can't even help them with it.

There's a difference between knowing the answer to "what is your name?" Versus the person asking you "hey so what do you think of the weather today?" If you didn't learn the words for today, weather, and the phrase "what do you think", you're going to be deer in headlights of what to say in return.
@@HouseMDaddict Yeah haha that happens when you learn the language trough certain useful phrases. The way I learned english was a bit different though and I dont know if its better or not, I basically learnt the meaning of a bunch of words over and over before even knowing how to put them together, then I started reading phrases and slowly got better at reading and hearing them. After that writing was a easy because I could just know what felt wrong vs what felt right. I say this like it was a master plan but I dont think I can ever replicate this in my life because it was totally accidental and born from the desire to read the stupid crap my friends sent in english.

I love how painfully clear it is they didn't learn any English, but just memorized their sentences
this is how most of people around the world go through English in their schools (which is about getting good grades and not the desire for learning)
I remember classmates in elementary writing down scripted conversations from textbook they should learn in native Cyrillic script, memorising butchered pronunciation and obliterating the meaning
Even then it was something barbaric to me, and now it's just funnily dumb
I visited Disneyland Paris years ago and attempted my best to say all thirteen phrases, then getting bombarded with chaos of native speaking French trying to have a conversation with me.
Long story short, I enjoyed my trip but realized that I'm not good at learning other languages.
@@user-cmcummto be fair it’s how we learn foreign language in US schools took at least I did when I took Spanish
It's a good way to start learning any language. Learn key sentences, then learn which words to swap for other words to make new sentences
Lol if I think of that as a student the perception of "nothing learned " is real. But as a teacher you can see they're practicing approach, pronunciation, you're exposing then to native speakers which has a lot of value and they're also practicing level 1 phrases to get used to the language. Love from México
