  • A friend and I took a side trip while in Austin to visit America's fastest highway - Texas State Highway 130. It's a toll road that connects Austin to I-10 to the south. Needless to say, it's an epic road!

      It would be hilarious if you had a 100 MPH speed limit sign. In Australia and Canada, the standard highway speed is 100 km/h (62 MPH). The highest legal speed limit in Australia is 130 km/h (80 MPH). In Canada I believe the maximum legal speed is 120 km/h (74 MPH).

    Im glad that we dont have such a low speed limit. I usually drive 140mph if roads are quiet like that. Greetings from Germany.

      That doesn't make any sense. You can go that fast everywhere. Thing is that is it nowhere allowed except Germany.

    all open freeways in america, within reason, should be 75-85mph speed limits, #1 because most drivers are doing 80-90 anyway #2 because most cars built in the last 2 decades are designed to go much faster than 100 with no problems, personally my '02 gmc envoy has pushed 110 on straight flat freeway and not had a single problem

    Try doing this in a 1980s car. The speedometer would max out, and you're still in legal speed.

      He did that on a 90s Chevy. The 80s cars were made during the fuel crisis so I would bet top speed is 110.

    Hi Kevin, I drive a 2016 Mercedes C300 in New Jersey and it’s really good on fuel efficiency, 32MPG at highway and 25MPG at city. Sometimes I drive 80mph in a 75, 74mph in a 70

    The typical highway speed on Long Island (NY) is 55 MPH haha. Some of them are 50 MPH. The southern state parkway is very dangerous for people who don’t know it because it has many curves. On other parkways such as the Meadowbrook, I can go 65 MPH because it’s straight. The only expressway on Long Island that trucks and other commercial vehicles can use is interstate 495 or the LIE. Trucks and other commercial vehicles CANNOT go on the parkways because they have low bridges. It’s an $800 fine for the first offense if you’re caught driving a commercial vehicle on a parkway.

    … Imagine grinding along here at 55 mph… Hence, background music should be Sammy Hagar “I can’t drive 55” and/or, Chris Rea “Texas” … in my humble opinion. It’s fun to be flying along like this, and a Texas DPS trooper flies past you at 110 in her black and white 5.0 Liter Mustang …

    Thats true. But tailgating during a heavy fog or heavy rain are a big reason why accidents happen. It would make senses to lower the speed limit during those conditions. I go fast when the conditions are good and i have so much space in front of me. Lot of times people don't understand the physics behind driving a vehicle like force, momentum, impulse, work, etc. I always keep that in mind when driving. :)

    probably a quick 0-60 or up to the speed limit while entering the freeway. Here is FL, its ok to drive 5 over because you can only get a warning. only fines occur when 6 or more over the speed limit. I see most of the time people drive 10 over and cops still won't pull them unless they see a nice car and look like its speeding haha. don't get me started with cop bureaucracy.

  • @NihselV
    @NihselV 10 лет назад

    That is interesting. certain states vary though. I know some states allows 14 year olds to drive but must have a person 25 years or older with you. Also some states issue Zero Tolerance on alcohol, which means you can't drink at all.
    1200 bucks?! Holy ****. I didn't pay that much when I was 18 lol.

    • @kobyschechter8163
      @kobyschechter8163 8 дней назад

      That’s not true Lmao. If you ever come to Long Island (NY). You will see why our highway speed limits are much lower than in Texas. Long Island is extremely congested. The highways are much older and they have many curves so for people who don’t know them they can be very dangerous. The speed limit on highways here is either 50 or 55 mph. In rural NY, it’s 65 mph because there’s a lot more space. NY is home to 19.5 million people and over 12 million live either on Long Island, NYC, or Westchester County which is on the coast. Most of NY is completely empty.

  • @Kaernten18

    yeah but i think the big problem is the distance between me and the car in front of me ;) we have a speed limit of 82 mph when you do 90 nobody will say everything... but when the distance not ok your driving license can go for free months ,)

      yeah American 17 year old driver are safer then you guys 18 year old yes 18 is really big responsibility because your out of high school 16 are kinda immature 17 girl are like adult and guys still little immature so yeah 17 is the year or 16.5 is the time you start getting responsible and you learn to drive at 16 and learn how to explore world us American we don't rely on public transportation yes starting 16 some really need to support family and their future yes when your 17 is best to support your self and that why you need license at right before 17 birthday and that age you could do some clubbing or stripping which you can have sex at 16 or 17 but guys and girl are different buy fire work get married move out should be 17 girl and 18 boy

      It's still wrong to speed even if cops are not around, and it's sin. If the sign says 70, that is the max you should be going.

    • @maksimshevchuk2841
      @maksimshevchuk2841 6 лет назад

      ipodmaster2688 we live in 21 century and 70 mph speed limit is stupid our cars can handle even 120mph. Almost all countries in the world have speed limit 130km to 180km, in my country Ukraine speed limit is 130km to 160km on two biggest highways in Ukraine the highest speed limit the lowest car accidents will happen because people won't get angry when someone is driving slowly. Germany doesn't have speed limit in some areas of all autobahns where traffic is low. And speeding is not a sin, cops speed more then actual citizens

    • @user-js6fx3zq7i

      I did 116 in 80 in South Dakota. Such a quiet road can handle very high speeds, loved it.

    • @cubby091398
      @cubby091398 5 лет назад

      55 mph is a crawl on a multilane divided interstate. At 150 mph you are zooming along. I wouldn't say I would go 150 but I definitely could handle 100 mph or more on that highway.

    but its also thing about the driving license^^ by us you must be 18 and it costs around 1,200dollars. you must be make a theoretic part and a driving part^^ in the us you must be 16^^ you can drive a car but you can t drink alcohol or go voting. by us you can drink alcohol with 16 you can vote with 16 ;) but driving you can with 18!

      ipodmaster2688 bullshit, I read on the news two weeks ago that Texas want to raise speed limit on some highways where traffic is low to 90mph so what you saying is all bullshit. By the way engineers in Germany and in state of Montana were rating where are the most car accidents happening, the mostly car accidents happening where the speed limit is low, where speed limit is high there are never accidents happen. If speed limit is low and some dushbags driving by speed limit and another driver wants to drive faster so those two dushbags blocking him from overtaking them he gets angry that's how car accidents happen. When speed limit is high people can drive what ever speed limit they want, if you want to drive 60 or 70 you taking right lane and driving your speed if somebody wants to drive faster they taking left lane and driving 90mph or 100mph

      Bitch I went 148 mph in my Toyota Camry, not a sin, that’s most bullshit religious sentence I have ever heard. I went 148 on empty traffic in a 70 zone but it’s called driving our cars what they are built for.

    oh thats intelligent drive. i do it also... but i think this is a us problem... they people are nice but the thinking is so... i can t say it it is a other way of thinking. the people want cars for 100 000 dollars and many hp but they only can get 75 mph^^
