Making delicious potato bake from scratch - quick and easy replacement of store bought

Hi all
Today we decided to make a potato bake from scratch which is easier than most people probably think. Using store bought potato bake is a great option but heres a way to do it with a few simple ingredients that makes an incredibly delicious side dish for any braai or roast!
Ingredients
1kg potatoes, thinly sliced
2 tbs butter, melted
4 cloves garlic, crushed
1 cup milk
1 cup fresh cream
salt and pepper to season
~1 1/2 cup grated cheese
fresh thyme
spring onion to garnish
Serve while still warm as a side dish.
