    I just ordered a dual motor on Saturday after a 50 minute test drive. Found my no compromised driving position pretty quickly which is a big deal for me as I'm 6'2 with somewhat large feet.
    I drove a pre refresh and still thought it quiet, punchy and felt that using that big screen came pretty easily. I was impressed!
    My angst over buying a Model 3 has been going on for over a year because of quality issues and I'm pretty much sick of should I or shouldn't I line of thinking.
    Should be delivered before end of month.
    The best battery tech and charging network and the fact that everybody loves their 3. Those are the three outstanding reasons I purchased.

    • @WhichEV
      @WhichEV  3 года назад +1

      Enjoy! Most people even love them if they encounter the dreaded quality issues. Technologically, they are so advanced.

      I got a pre refresh (so pissed I just missed the refresh) but great car. I'll probably own a Tesla for the rest of my life. New version 11 update coming soon too!

    • @Rick9482
      @Rick9482 3 года назад

      @@MrEdSnowden Ouch! Yeah, missing out on the refresh sucks but interesting enough, for me anyway, the old center console didn't look or feel as bad as expected. In fact, I hardly noticed it. The auto tailgate and heat pump will be noticed.
      My brain just got stuck on the old console when viewing past reviews but when driving the car, it didn't make any impression plus or minus whatsoever.
      My sale can still fall apart as me and the app are not getting on well. This buying on line needs lots of improvement. A real person is now involved but if the deal falls apart, no skin off my nose, I already have a great running car. They're the ones trying to make end of year sales so I get what's promised or I'm taking my ass down the road.
      Always liked that E Class!

    It amazes me that so many reviews ignore or forget about voice commands. It makes many of the complaints about the lack of buttons pointless. Plus, you never need to take your hands off the wheel.

    • @WhichEV

      We did a survey on some EV forums and only about half of the people we talked to like using voice commands. If everyone did, fine. But if half of EV drivers don't like using voice or find it doesn't work for them, car manufacturers really should provide a robust alternative. Tesla and Polestar don't.

    So to open the glovebox on a Tesla you touch the car icon to come out of satnav (1 Action) (annoying for the driver who is using the satnav) touch the glovebox button (2 actions) go back to the satnav (3 actions). Every car other than Tesla you pull the latch on the glovebox and it opens (1 action). To turn on the heated rear seat if you are a rear seat passenger you just grow yourself a nine foot long arm, then stretch to interface on the dashboard, touch the seat icon to come out of the satnav (again!) (1 action) select your seat to be heated (2 actions) go back to the satnav (3 actions). On the Polestar 2 you push the button in front of you (1 action). Seriously, to operate the lights or windscreen wipers manually you have to take your eyes off the road and look at the touch screen to see where you’re placing your fingers!? I never look at the switches on my car! I feel them. And each switch operates with one action. So how do you operate the horn? Do you have to come out of the satnav, select the horn button and return to the satnav again or is the horn operated by the rear seat passenger? Or do you have to ring up your wife at home to activate it? Was this car designed by Viz Comic? Please advise me. I clearly misunderstood.

    • @WhichEV
      @WhichEV  3 года назад +1

      Very true. Allegedly you can "use voice control" but from our own experience and what others (mostly) say on Tesla groups, it's not exactly effective. Only yesterday someone on a Tesla Model 3 group was talking about how often they end ups straying into a hard shoulder trying to adjust the windscreen wipers manually. The Model 3 is a brilliant car in lots of ways, but these are its flaws and you have very accurately described them.

    You should have a serious word with your video editor, Sir. The audio levels are all over the place and worse still the audio seems to change randomly between the camera mic and your wireless lapel mic. Someone has forgotten to mute and activate the right audio channels. Very sloppy audio work.

    • @WhichEV
      @WhichEV  3 года назад +1

      We know about this. In fact, the lapel mic stopped recording early on in the shoot and yet was still coming out clearly on the camcorder headphones so we didn't realise. We had to give the car back straight after shooting the video so couldn't re-do it and had to find some way to fix the audio. We either had to drop the video entirely or find a way to make use of what we had. Considering the number of views we've had on this video and the healthy effect it has had on our subscriber base, going with the very imperfect end result was the right decision! We're using a different setup now to avoid this happening in the future.

    So many auto journalists and bloggers criticising this vehicle because it’s difficult to operate all the controls via the touch screen. That’s not fair because up you can use voice commands for everything and as such easier than a conventional car, you don’t need to look for a switch at all.

    • @WhichEV
      @WhichEV  3 года назад

      If you like that mode of operation. If you talk to actual people - which we do a lot on social media - they don't want to operate everything by voice. This also forces all control through the driver. What if the passenger wants to change something and it's primarily operated through the voice control? Less of an issue for a Tesla, which has an intuitive and well organised menu, but the Polestar 2's pigs ear of an interface makes this more of a problem.

Its distinct steering strategy gives the impression that either the car is driving itself or the driver has full control, and the system is more authoritarian than cooperative".
      The main reason Tesla invented this technology was for the specific reason to improve driving experience and reduce driver fatigue on the road. A system that alerts the driver to keep the hands on the wheel at all times and stops when the driver has ignored all the visual and audio warnings by the car's autopilot system disproves the notion that the system is not cooperative.

      @@WhichEV took me a while to get used to it and I understand the concerns but it's the same with any revolutionary technology. Lots of people prefer push button mobiles as the battery lasts ages and easier to use. Not nearly as useful as smart phones and quickly date though. Look at old tesla interfaces and 5 years later they have new swanky ones with tons more features. I would rather an upgradable car interface that's always improving. I do agree that it can take some getting used to. That's where voice commands help a little. Evs themselves though are a whole new way of working. Also remember the long term aim is autonomy. That screen makes more sense when the car is doing most (hopefully all soon enough) of the heavy lifting when driving.

    • @WhichEV
      @WhichEV  3 года назад

      @@madonemt There are a few things you should just leave as separate buttons, like windscreen wiper speeds, lights, screen demisting, and aircon controls. Sure, put the fine tuning of climate control on the panel, but basic things like windscreen defog need to be accessible without thinking. Voice control is another thing some people really hate. Remember, Teslas are expensive, and (particularly in the UK, where they're even more expensive than the US), the main buyers ARE middle-aged or older because younger people can't afford them.

    • @madonemt
      @madonemt 3 года назад

      @@WhichEV might agree to a point on the climate control but demisters are still just one button along the bottom. I'm an older millennial (just turned 40 this year) and no disrespect to older drivers intended but many just dismiss evs (and even smart phones) off hand as they can't seem to get around the adjustment. On the whole I think the one screen is a better option in the longer term as if something isn't quite right (I think the speedo should be slightly larger and perhaps coloured red if you go over the limit). It's how tech is now and will be expected more and more especially as millennials mature and have more money to spend in their 30s and 40s.

    The thing about Model 3 is that the battery is bolted from both sides, you have to remove most of the cabin interior to be able to remove the battery. Hours and hours of work same shit with the Model Y. So far only S and X can remove battery from bottom bolts. And it will soon get worse the battery will be a integrated structural body part, last but not least ; Tesla will not let us use our battery for V2G. Next car for me will be a V2G car.
