Funnily enough I bought one of these 328i sports for my channel a few weeks back to do some vids on, its nowhere near as nice as yours though unfortunately, I’ll be going down the track day/clubsports route though with e36 m3 running gear swap , half cage and buckets seats .
Loads of things the same with mine though , seats , headlining , passenger window not dropping when doors opened . Strange thing is we’ve had a few of the same cars with the e46 m3s and clubsports also, good luck with your project 🙂

Ive been in contact with a company called mrretrofits on instagram that are sending me through headliner sample they say is OEM match for anthracite (grey and beige are the other 2 OEM). if its any good I will post it up on the channel and fit it. the interior on these seems good. mines pretty scruffy paint wise but it will buff up good enough, need some rust sorting though :( best of luck with the project gonna rock when its all done.

One of the greatest attributes of the e36 bmw’s is the ability to find aftermarket parts for them. I had an e46 m3 and I nearly bought a mint e63 because the accessibility of tuning and performance accessories was nearly endless. Not to mention the ability to customize older bmw’s is off the charts, so many parts can make such a big difference in the handling and performance. Turbo kits for the e36 range are stunningly cheap compared to their modern counterparts, plus the potential for huge power is always there regardless of which form of forced induction you choose. Overall an amazing platform to begin the process of modification, great choice mate!

    WOW !
I owned a 328is coupe previously, before I went to an E91 M Sport touring, and then to my current car an M140i :-))
I loved my 328is, it was Boston Green, and had the M50 manifold, carbon fibre Simota induction kit, and remap, making 230bhp. The M50 was the 2.5 engine, and was unrestricted, where the M52 2.8 engine was restricted to keep it under 200bhp.
It's a very cheap and easy way to make an extra 30 bhp, and really improves the engines breathing, and overall makes it a lot less 'lazy'.
The E36 is a very well built car, no trim rattles, and the doors shut with a thunk, reassuringly heavy.
    Love your car mate !

I can see you bouncing around, that is a hard suspension for daily but fantastic for track. Take your time with the head liner. I had an a 1994 E36 325 coupe for about 6 years and the headlining sagged on mine as well, also the front window regulators tend to fail as mine both did and the door card clip brackets came unglued. Get it on a ramp and check the chassis for rust , suspension turrets , wishbones to see if they are bent , drop links and all of the rubber bushes unless the previous owner had it poly bushed , check the copper brake pipes for weeping on the joints / corrosion if it's been lowered and generally messed about , i would recommend a four wheel alignment to get it back in spec .the A pillar microphone things are for the alarm ultrasonics, if someone breaks the glass it triggers the alarm, had them on my XR3 i back in 1989, an insurance stipulation back then . The original BMW business radio casette was manufactured by blaupunkt , you can pick them up on ebay . 👍👍👏👏

Regarding the headliner, it's the foam backing to the fabric that's broken down (same on my E34) and so just gluing it back probably isn't viable, you'll need to strip the fabric off, and then remove all trace of the foam. It's a messy and unpleasant job, but worth doing right. Replacement fabric can be had from Martrim, and I'd watch this video for a good how to: ruclips.net/video/edzDj9ZUIQI/видео.html Really good channel btw.

Hi John, really enjoyed the video, the new car has real potential and I have no doubt that you'll make it a 'minter'. I have a very nice period flip front alpine head unit (sorry, I can't remember the model number) that will go extremely well with your new car; it act's as a reference series controller and needs to be paired to an external amp ( i also have an alpine V12 amp) - it used to sound fantastic in my old E46 paired will a set of focal components and subs. It's been sitting in my spare room for a while, so not entirely sure how it's faired, but maybe worth a punt?

The pillar "speakers" are the sensors for the alarm. The beeping when you turn off the ignition is the Sony radio reminding you to remove the display. Nice one Jon, a proper project. I didn't see the 330ci on your drive, is that going too?

Nearly got my E36 back on the road. Fantastic cars to drive
If your going to replace the shocks & springs. I'd recommend the Bilstein b14 kit. Cant go crazy low with it but fantastic handing.

The check coolant message is a common problem, and you will need to change to coolant level sensor on the bottom of the expansion tank.

thanks adam Ill keep an eye on that level as well over the next few days I bet it stays the same. It looks way above the min level in the resovoir (cant see a max level). so yer faulty sensor would make sense with what im seeing.

Hi John...interesting choice of car. If you can't get an OEM stereo, think about something modern but in keeping with the look of the car. Something like a Blaupunkt Toronto or London which will also have ISO connectors and hopefully should be plug and play. I assume you just have the standard speaker set up, it will handle more and has Pre Amp and Sub Connectors but that becomes less Plug and Play. Brave Choice on the car...noticed the Blue Club Sport was MIA in your video...you still keeping that...anyways, good luck, think you will need it.

That little speaker you talked about on the pillar is a microphone for Bluetooth (hands free) system on that head unit when you connect your mobile phone to it . I have one on my Kenwood multimedia unit as well.👍

I'm pretty sure that beep / chime when you take your keys out is the Sony stereo, not the immobiliser. I think it can be switched off in the settings on the stereo, same with the demo mode / graphics when it's on standby.
