I’ve watched this channel for almost 5 years now, it’s been an absolute fountain of knowledge for me, and many detailers I know.
On this occasion John I think you’ve got the weightings wrong, for a product to come top in durability, gloss and high scoring in slickness & repellency but finish up near bottom shows this.
When I’m shopping for a coating the above qualities are what I look for.
    Great entertainment as always though👍🏻

just to ad to this, the value needs to be looked at different. it can be an expensive product but if you only need to apply once every 3-6 months that actually the same or better than a cheaper product that you need to apply weekly. so it needs to be looked at over time and the amount needed in that time or like you mostly do price per application and then the time it lasts for that 1 application. not price per liter

  • @mtbrdude

Value and Durability should be a combo rating....Cost per litre for the SiRamik is high, but one application last so long that you're actually saving money

appreciate it m8. Its a very tough time on you tube right now. they are diverting views to viral trend content in a bid to turn young people into content creators. so the good news if is your 12 years old and you like miming over the top of the latest viral trend you could get 50 million views for 15 seconds work. But if your spending months testing car cleaning products this really does not tickle the algorythms so you get 10k views and loose money. this is my number 1 challenge and Im only able to do it because of the passion of the smaller audience that watch. appreciate you taking the time to comment and watch I mean that.

I note some criticism of the scoring method, specifically cost, in the comments. However, i really like the way you do these testing. Thanks for all your efforts John, super detailed as usual! I do think you are giving too much emphasis on cost rather than 'value'. If a product is twice as expensive as another, but lasts 3 times as long, that is good 'value'. Its just happens to be more expensive. The SiRamik stuff started at a massive disadvantage that it was never going to claw back, even though it was very near the top in every other category. So coming 6th out of 10 can't be right.

@@jamesstanley7263 I agree, I never weight the scores the way Jon does but he puts the full info up for you to decide yourself, everyone has different priorities when it comes to product performance so it's near impossible to please everyone with the scoring. Even Jon at the end puts the Siramik in his personal top 3, me personally I put durability and water behaviour top, followed by gloss, everything else is much lower down on my list, but someone else might want to try a different LSP every month and user experience for them might be top.

Forensic channel at its best! Top job Jon. I've been using Koch SOo2 most of this year on entry level Details, and have been quite pleased with it. It goes a long way, My biggest issue with it has been with durability strangely, I've found with anything that isn't near enough PH neutral simply washes it away. GSF though is my go to on regular maintenance washes and it copes well with this. I've found Touchless though wipes it out easily. Its quick and fool proof to apply. The gloss enhancement doesn't worry me, the skill in the prep is what gives the best shine! So You have given me good food for thought, and I'll mix it up a bit now. Particularly want to try the Collinite as its a brand I rate highly. (and insulator wax or 476 are my choice on my own stuff.... Don't tell anyone, I'd lose a fortune!)

I've been using the Beadcoat a little over two weeks now.
I wash at least once a week, but often twice (So 4 washes). Car stays outside 100% of the time.
Hydrophobics have degraded slightly, but coverage is still 100%.
I can tell that the most significant degrading was after my APC (Greenstar)+Turtle Wax Pure Soap foam.
I apply the foam and immediately rinse away after I achieve full coverage.
With just regular washes and and no APC rinse, I think I could reasonably get 2 months which is all I was wanting from this.
I do wipe down the car with the Slikr detailer (out of a Flairosol bottle) after each wash.
The way I plan on using the Beadcoat is to do an APC rinse every other month + regular contact wash and do a re application of Beadcoat.
The ease of use is through the roof.

i've been using Collinite products for well over 30+ years. I used to put it on my patrol cars when I was a cop and it was freakin' fantastic. I always used the Super Double Coat from Collinite. It was the precursor to Fusso from Soft 99 and a super durable synthetic wax blend. Very durable wax, and it was my primary wax for many years and did well all year around, but especially in the wintertime against road salts, etc. I am definitely going to purchase the Collinite Spray Sealant. It's cheaper for us here in the States since it's made in New York I believe. It's a family company also and has been around a LONG time, since the 1930's or something like that so Collinite has a lot of experience with protective waxes. Their 845 Insulator Wax was actually used on glass conductors on electrical poles many years ago and that is what it was designed for originally, however, car enthusiasts soon learned that it worked wonders on vehicle paint also and a very high reflectivity and oily type of wax. It's a great topper wax for gloss! Thanks for posting Jon. I appreciate it. I actually have had the Collinite in my Amazon cart for the past couple weeks but didn't buy it yet.

Bead it up causes way too much dust collection. Its the same as bead maker when it comes to dust. I currently live in Germany and within one day of using bead it up, my car is covered in a layer of dust that did not exist prior to using the product. I have started to do a spray of bead it up and a spray of final touch on a panel to see if that helps with dust.
Bead it up is very slick on my 2024 Audi S5. It does allow water to bead very well on my glass when driving 50-140mph on the Autobahn, I dont need my wipers. I am not sure why you dont say it doesnt bead well but I also have a base layer of Meg's Ultimate Wax under it.

Ive been using Bead It Up for over 12 months and never had any problems with dust. Beadmaker is a dust magnet though! I really like the Bead It Up and bought a gallon of it when my bottle ran out. The slickness is amazing and i see a real nice gloss from it, more than a lot of my many other spray sealants, which just goes to show that what the eye sees and what the gloss meter sees can be two very different things. As for beading, it does bead but they are not as tight and round as some of the other products ive got. The mango/pineapple fragrance is out of this world. 3D also make the newer GLW SiO2 ceramic detailer which is more durable and gives tighter beading but its not as slick and the gloss isnt as good as Bead It Up IMO.

I'm new to this channel but am finding it amazingly useful. My wife and I recently traded in our much beloved Volvo V70 Classic after 21 years and over 160,000 miles. It was red and I had to stay on top of the detailing to ensure that oxidisation didn't turn it white (this happened to a neighbour of ours). I managed to maintain a finish like glass, and many people over the years commented on how good it looked, so I must have been doing something right. I leant towards Meguairs products which I found gave me the results I wanted, I even invested in one of their polishers.
We now have a Honda HRV with a Ceramic finish and I was very interested to watched the videos on Colinite, which my wife may be buying me for Christmas. I have two questions -
    1. I would normally have clay barred my Volvo once a year, I'm assuming I can't use clay on a cermaic finish, what is the best product to get those annoying little bits off the car before appling products like Colinite?
    2. Can i still use the polisher on a Ceramic Finish?
Brilliant videos Jon, you really do a deep dive into every aspect of the products. I admit that I never heard of many of these products but have already invested in Snow Foam and some of the cloths you recommend. It has been and continues to be an education.

so if its got a coating mate. avoid clay bars and abrasive polish. you can remove little tar spots or tree sap with a mild tar and glue remover. Milder one would be valet pro. You can also use a citrus wash to help reduce the build up of that sort of stuff.

mmm the video is great, however the scoring criteria is very controversial, although 3D and Menzerna have more points in the cost category, for example in LATAM that does not happen and many times those are more expensive than others on the list, for example For example, Koch Chemie SO02 is a very good product and the results indicate that it has little shine and durability, I find it very difficult to believe because I have used it many times on different cars and the results are incredible. I appreciate your video but I have more questions than answers.

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  3 месяца назад

So you can't compare regional prices m8 when you do a review just your countries prices. Koch results showed good durability but not good gloss increment. The gloss meter cannot lie but there can be other factors at play like error or prep or application issue.
