A WONDERFUL symphony. It's tragic that he died too young. Vasily Kalinnikov may very likely have been one the great composers of the twentieth century, had he lived. This resounds my love for Russian Composers. BRAVO

A very underrated composer - deserves much more attention by US orchestras, The 2nd movt is
    serene, blissful!

Such a great symphony, it's a pity that it's lesser known than other Russian composers of the same epoch. Thank you for playing it!

I love how he takes a tiny, throwaway part of The Bartered Bride and builds something huge with it in the third movement. I love the bells at the end as well, which my reference recording (Royal Scottish National Orchestra under Järvi) lacks. A really fun symphony and interpretation

The tubular bells at the end of the last movement: our local orchestra performed this work without the bells. Our conductor says the bells are not included in the orchestral score. Did Maestro Verbitsky add them? (they sound great).
