Despite what haters will say about him all I have to say that Nomura deserves all of the praise he can get because he designed and help developed one of the most iconic characters in final fantasy, invented limit breaks, helped developed the story of kingdom hearts, produced the world ends with you and so on and forth. Also his artwork stands out amongst his peers in the video game industry because it feels and looks hand drawn.

One thing I don't get about why people hate Tetsuya Nomura is that they blame him for the direction of the ffv series like bro is the CEO or something seems so unfair he does have some influence on the franchise obviously but it's mostly on the characters and their stories and maybe certian story themes but if his higher ups don't want him to do something like putting mad belts on this character designs he won't just don't get the hate

Nice video. I'm a massive fan of Tetsuya Nomura. One thing that I think would have been worth pointing out was Nomura's design for the 'Tower of Gods' from Final Fantasy VI which I think is one of his greatest drawn works.
In any case, looking forward to this video series and arriving at the plaid era and the "hyper masculine badass guy" aesthetic that he's recently gone into with Jack Garland and Glen from FF7 EC.

I've always loved Nomuras art since childhood, seeing the KH1 cover art just mesmerized me, that piece is called Premonition, and the cover art really beautifully conveys that. His artwork is absolutely phenomenal, not just his art though, his overall work in general is extraordinary, he has done so much with so much passion and heart behind it, and introduced so many unique and interesting concepts for Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, The World Ends with You, etc. Even introducing the concept of Dissidia. He has created and covered so many monster and character designs with a distinct elegant style. I really admire his work and all he has done.
Great video covering Nomuras art man. I've seen a good number of analysis videos breaking down Nomuras art-style, and I gotta say this is one of the best ones I've seen.

holy shit 4:12-4:33, Nomura-san really spoke it into existence. He worked so damn hard for it and achieved success with it then and look at now, 22 days away from the second game in a remake/remaster for Final Fantasy VII. Incredible. 24 years old at the time what an inspiration. Also, this is a great video, and I look forward to the rest of the series you have for it planned; it's always great to have all the interview information in one place.

Take your time with this series, and take care of yourself. I’m really happy to see a channel cover his career so thank you, dude! Nomura-san, as you said, has a prolific career that is still going to this day, so there’s plenty to go over. Good luck! 🎉

I am never going to forget the first time I saw FF7 characters. There was just something special about them, something I have never seen at the time. I think that something is Nomura's awesomeness.
Tho that only happened when I watched Advent Children since FF7 never reached my crappy town. In a way that may have been a good thing because I am not sure if my young self would like lower poly models of FF7. I guess in that way I agree with Nomura's decision to "upgrade" thoese designs in newer iterations.

Nomura also influenced the design of Citan Uzuki from Xenogears. Even if I have never played a Final Fantasy game, that design is enough to make me a fan of his. Of course, lead character designer Kunihiko Tanaka's masterful work must have played an important part in Citan's design as well, but seeing as Takahashi brought Nomura back for Xenoblade 2's Torna designs I'm happy to give Nomura his early conceptual flowers too.
