Mephelis in Shadow Generations is so interesting because the way I saw the character in his original outing was that he was overconfident because not only he is invincible with him having to be sealed away to be stopped but also whatever he did in the future didn't matter as he'll still exist in the present hence why he messes with Shadow just because he can and as a act of revenge. But after the plot that game having his existence be erased from the timeline, he is made a desperate mess in white space as he knows if he fails this time then it's truly over. I like this as well because it actually gives him a proper comeuppance for his actions with him feeling the desperation and pain that Sonic's friends felt after he killed the blue blur himself and transformed into Solaris.
@@mega6662 No rings, mephiles reacts faster and you need to stun him in the middle of a combo before either kicking him to the floor or kicking him to the spheres like you would normally.
Probably one of the most memorable villains due to writing alone. It is interesting to me that Mephiles not only embodies Solaris, but is also supposed to serve as a representation of Shadow's "Shadow". His distaste in humanity for letting Maria die and anger torwards people for thinking only in their own interests. Basically he embodies the nihilism that Shadow once embraced in SA2 as a whole. Which that destruction and oblivion were the only righteous paths left. Black Doom did expand on that aspect of Shadow's character as well, but I feel like his angle is more torwards making Shadow embrace his alien heritage and abandoning his more human side. Rather than destruction for the sake of destruction. Mephiles to me just works as a way to truly showcase how much Shadow has grown after first meeting Sonic.
What a wild cameo that will probably never happen again but it's still cool we were alive to see it. also rip to that VA who did this terrible Omega voice
Consider: Sonic '06 is now legally old enough to drink. Mephiles now has a mean to sink his sorrow after that emotionnal damage Shadow inflicted on him with that cold line
Robbie is a solid fit, they just didn’t have him keep his voice deep and gravelly enough for entire lines. At the beginning of lines when he’s speaking quietly he’s a dead ringer for Dan Green, it’s just when he starts getting louder that it becomes obvious it’s a different guy. At the end of the day he probably didn’t get very much voice direction since it’s just one little boss battle with a character we’re not gonna see again for a long time, if ever. No idea why people are getting pressed over it lol
‘Twas my first Sonic game. My big brother decided to get me it for Christmas that year. Despite being trash, it holds a special place in my heart. If you were to try and make me hate the game, it’s no use. ;)
Not even a contest on which fight is better but the gens fight was just such an amazing experience. Gonna be honest I haven’t even played the og and even when project 06 releases the final update with the boss it still may not be as goated as this. Not even ChaosX’s fault
Don't say which fight is better if you haven't even played the original to compare. It is like saying Apple are better than oranges while never having orange
I played the original I can attest to this. The og fight is basically a slog to kill Mephiles enemies that are super easy to destroy. After that, you just gotta mindlessly attack Mephiles. It’s so boring, such a shame for such a great antagonist with an actually cool boss gimmick in theory.
@zero1zerolast393 If we're being fair, we can see the 2 fights in this video. So while they may not know how it plays, they can compare the two based off of how they look

I’m happy I wasn’t the only one who played the fight the way you did here. Mephiles reminds me of Goku Black from Dragon Ball Super they both uses some elses body, they both want to destroy the universe and they both killed the mc of their series and they both treat themselves as gods and are ones Mephiles turning out to be Solaris.
@@KyndlingStoneCB I believe he's come back for a few roles here and there since then.
