My husband got home and said, "the Russos went to Dinosaur!" We were so excited because we went there a few years ago. It is so beautiful. We went to Echo Camp Ground and saw that same homestead, whisper cave the hyroglyphs. It was so fun remembering our journey by sharing yours!
Being the history buff that I am, I found this video extremely awesome to watch : Natural Scenic Beauty, that old weathered homestead at 4:28 in the video was excellent, the Petroglyphs were really cool, and I’ve been fascinated by Dino Fossils since I was a little kid! A very history-centric video indeed❣️ Another great video by the dynamic “trio”! 😀👏🏼
13:10 - True story: I converted my Prius into a camping vehicle and took it from the outer banks (NC) to the Olympic Peninsula (WA) last year. My partner and I spent a couple weeks in Montana and Idaho. (A Prius is more capable than a lot of people realize... and bear in mind I’m from rural KS so dirt roads don’t scare me.) One evening we took a two-hour drive up into the Panhandle National Forest outside of Coeur D’Alene way back on logging roads... (we were backwoods enough that there were grizzly marks on just about every other tree we passed)... It was finally totally dark and the road kept getting gradually worse as we tried to make our way back to pavement. We finally saw some overlanders camped on the side of the road for the night... We decided to ask them if the road improved ahead (it did). They were locals... decked out in camo... probably not expecting to see anyone come through... let alone a Prius... and the look on their faces was priceless. As we drove away I hollered, “Bet you weren’t expecting to see a wild Prius up here.” They got a good laugh out of that and we went on our way. So yes - we crazy Prius drivers are out there on those back roads. (And if anyone is wondering, our other truck is a 7.3 Excursion, so we’ve got both ends of the spectrum covered. Just can’t beat the Prius for saving money on long trips.) 🤙🏽
Thanks for the memories. My husband and I camped at the Green River Campground, where you are, about 10 years ago. It was so hot that we put on our bathing suits and walked down to the Green River and sat down in the middle of the river to cool off. The water rushed by us but it was so refreshing! I am a widow of 5 years now but the memories of my time there with my husband came flooding back when I watched your video. Thanks for that. Also, have you been to Four Corners? I would love for you to make a video of that.....and Monument Valley too.
I have rafted the Green and Yampa at least 20 times through Dinosaur. A special place during all seasons. Speaking of "Hidden Gems", search Muley Point in SE Utah (take it from a old Geologist).
My last visit to Echo Park was in a 2 wheel drive pickup with a heavy slide in camper installed. It was a great trip until we decided to leave just as an ugly dark storm was moving in. By the time we were nearing the top of the climb out, it was a raging thunder storm. The sign that says it is impassable when wet is one to pay close attention to. I thought we were going to die that day. We began to lose traction and we had one more switchback to navigate before arriving at the top. We made it but it was very scary for a few minutes there. It is a really great place to visit though. Just check the forecast before going. VERY NICE VIDEO, thanks.
With Steamboat Rock as the gem of Echo Park, it's a magical place. But I'm rather shocked that you didn't drive the Yampa Bench Road. It's well worth it in my opinion. Take care!
In college I developed an interest in Dinosaurs, and I learned a lot of the history of Dinosaur hunting in the US. The Bone Wars is a favorite of mine with the competition between Marsh and Cope. The vertical wall of bones there in the Visitors Center was dug up by an expedition funded by Andrew Carnegie, and they took many train car loads of bones out of that site (quick aside, Carnegie Melon still has some of the fossils, in matrix, that are still waiting to be undressed and studied). After the expedition left, the University of Utah sent a team to the site and they removed one skeleton of a sauropod from the site. Immediately after they left is was declared a National Monument. Thank you. That wall of bones is something I have always wanted to see. Thanks for taking me there. Hopefully, one day I will get there on my own. It is nice to know there is nearby camping.
It’s so beautiful there! Thank you for taking us! What a treat it is to watch your journeys. I’m having a blast. You do such a great job filming and editing. Love the content.
You may want to try grilled watermelon steaks. Cut watermelon into inch thick slabs, no rind. Brush with oil, then salt and pepper. Grill about 3-4 minutes each side. Remove and serve with veggies and rice. I like to glaze the watermelon with balsamic and brown sugar glaze and feta or blue cheese on top. Great video by the way. So relaxing!
Hi. Thank you soo, all much for this trip!! Beautiful scenery. Imagine where early settlers n early man walked those areas. Even early man felt a need to document his surroundings n activity of his day, an early Instagramer. I am unable to travel, but thru ya'll I can see our great land who or even what inhabited it. Peace to you and yours
oh boy, blasts from my past! I visited the dinosaur dig with my recently deceased father back in the late 50's, and the boulder high school science club had a weekend campout at Echo Park in 1971. We all got there in standard cars, there were a few 4wd then but not so common. Thanks for the reminders and tour!
We went last year the day it reopened after the covid shutdown. It was so amazing, I think we are going to make a stop on our way to Yellowstone this summer.
I’ve been watching your videos for years now and really enjoy them especially in the last couple years of covid . We haven’t really done anything as far as traveling.we live in Grande Cache Alberta.a beautiful little mountain town on highway 40 2 hours north of Jasper. I now work a 4 day on and 4 day off work schedule. We have a Chevy express 2500 van and Jayco 14.5’ holiday trailer .it’s tiny but cozy .we also have 3 dogs .we can’t wait to hit the road on my 4 day weekends and just explore and camp along the way . We also enjoy mountain biking and fishing.hopefully soon all this covid madness will end and we’ll be on the road again. I’ll be watching and who knows maybe one day our paths will cross .take care and enjoy your adventures.thank u 👍👏
Love the way you two get along so well...respectful and positive...so refreshing to see a couple who are obviously soul mates really enjoy everything you do.
Pretty scenery! Airing down the tires-smart idea! Watermelon for dinner-sweet! The petrogliffs looked neat and the cold air coming out of that other place sounded so inviting. What a pretty area for camping! Wow! And, the fact that it only costs $10 to stay there makes it even better! Interesting visit about the dinosaurs! The Green River Campground was even more enticing, with the water! Thanks for sharing! Take care and God bless you!
WOW folks what a fantastic video! Very well done! I was at Dino in I believe was 1957-it was just a tent back then! But at 8 yrs old I thought it was fantastic! Thank You so much!
Two reasons why they close echo park road when it rains. 1. The red clay will stick about any vehicle. And it gets super slippery and its a long way down. 2. Mud slides Two spots on the road down.
Joe and Kait, I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this video of your trip! I loved the music and the scenes of the park. I felt like I was there with y'all. One of your best videos so far, please keep these coming! Be safe and let's see what's ahead!
I was just out there a few weeks ago. Dinosaur. But I only live 3 hours from it. Just a 2-hour drive away is 9-mile canyon by Price, Utah that has a TON of petroglyphs.
This video made wish I could be on the road like the two of you are enjoying. It was really breathtaking scenery. My husband and I were out west one time for a two week adventure on a Harley. What I realize is; we barely scratched the surface. We have such a beautiful country.
Both of you have inspired me to get out and try this - even if its just little trips for now to see if I like it. Always beautiful places that you find to see. Some of the places you have shown and mentioned in Flagstaff i really wanna check out.
This one of my favorite parks. And Echo park hands-down is a great drive. Last year there was a mountain lion chasing some mule deer. We soon left she as she was calling in her cubs.
Get yourself an Anderson plug quick disconnect to the battery for your air compressor so that you don't have to pop the hood. And a bladder hanger hook above the water tank fill!
Noticed you had a Garmin inReach explorer on your dash. Good you have that device in case you get stranded in the middle of nowhere outside of cell coverage. Might be a good thing to do a review of someday for people. I bought one for my daughter when she and 3 friends went backpacking for a month in South America. The piece of mind of getting those position updates was worth every penny. And the fact that you can ‘pause’ your subscription when you don’t need it is really cost effective.
Now you've done it! You have me shopping for rigs similar to yours for my travels. Dinosaur is a great and yet hidden gem right there in plain sight. Thanks!
WTR, interesting trip, to dinosaur park , so you have gone back to a cafe press, ?I see no glass to break ,on this one , BTW, I see you have a pair of those traction bars, are the ‘original’ or are the cheaper copies ? Happy Trails Cheers 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
How do you know what pressure to inflate and deflate your tires especially with the weight of the truck camper loaded? Love to see a vid on this??? Looks like a neat place to visit!
Basic rule of thumb is to air down to 50% of the recommended tire pressures for your vehicles tires (typically found on a sticker along the drivers side door). This is only for driving on dirt at low speed.
Hello Russo's😊😊! What a SPECTACULAR place! WOW! That coffee must taste so good when your amongst such beauty at Dinosaur National Park. Next time I revisit Colorado and Utah I will not miss this incredible place. Great video😊!
Great video, Joe and Kait! Thank you! A couple of questions for you about your eating style...it seems you like simple but tasty meals...what was the fish that you used in your bowl and what size Instant Pot do you have? My husband and I live in a travel trailer but have a difficult time simplifying our meals so any ideas would be appreciated.
What a beautiful place. I was there long ago and still remember it fondly. What do you use for tire deflator and pump? Thank you for the beautiful video!
Joe what visit are you running? Is that the 400p with just a hose extension? FWIW, I found out that replacing their inflator/deflator thing with a open air chuck inflates faster and it seems to keep the compressor a bit cooler Kait, thank you for those awesome filming skills!

I’m a new watcher and have jumped around watching your Videos. How do you get so many different vehicles? Do you own them or test them for people. Just curious. Thanks.

Thanks Nancy - it's not a bad way to travel
@@Weretherussos I love your rig. Perfect. Mobile, yet still has everything you need.
I think this was one of your best videos to date & I've been here from the start. Beautiful scenery & nice choice of music as well.
Wow, thank you!

woah woah woah I see those new Scheel-manns! I hope to see a review (or similar) on those at some point!
Absolutely. We’ll be publishing it on our website at weretherussos.com once we have some more time in them!

Dinosaur National Monument is added to my list. Enjoyed the fun!
Glad you enjoyed it!

FWIW, I found out that replacing their inflator/deflator thing with a open air chuck inflates faster and it seems to keep the compressor a bit cooler

I don’t remember the truck seats. Were they always those aftermarket seats? When did they swap em? Did I miss a video? Cool spot, added to my list.
Just watched the back seat build video. Looks like the front seats got swapped from the OEM cloth to the aftermarket ones halfway into the build.
👍👍. Take care and God bless ✌️
