Who are Kara and Nate?!
Watch our documentary here: • 100th COUNTRY DOCUMENTARY
Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married 2013 and were super “normal.” I was a teacher and Nate started a small printing business from the spare bedroom of our apartment.
We discovered the world of “travel hacking” while planning our honeymoon & became addicted ;)
So after 2 years of obsessively saving $35k and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016 for a “one year” trip around the world.
Our goal was to see as many places as possible before we ran out of money and went back home to “normal life.” We started this channel to share our experiences with friends and family, but quickly fell in love with living on the road and found a new passion for capturing our travels through video. So we did everything we could to keep going.
4 years later, we achieved our new goal of visiting 100 countries and all 7 continents. We had no plans to slow down, until 2020 forced us to ;) Which is when we bought a converted van to start exploring our own country for the first time!
After ~2 years of van life, we are back to full time international traveling! And now we are in our 9TH YEAR of finding the best adventures the world has to offer :)
We are incredibly grateful to be able to continue doing something we love every day. 😊🎥🌎 Thank you to everyone who has been a part of our journey!

My husband and I started van camping in 1974 with our two small children. For nine winters we went to Mexico, took seven years off while the kids were in high school, and just the two of us returned to Mexico again for the winter in 1991. Our van had a standing Coleman ice chest we built in, and a Coleman stove. Water was in jugs, and our porta potty was yogurt containers. Every winter we traveled all over Mexico and Guatemala and in 2004 we got a small traveler trailer because at 60 I wanted a bathroom. Our last trailer was a 23 foot and we ended up just staying the winter in one place in Mexico instead of traveling all around. We missed the convience of going places in the van, but enjoyed the life we had with friends we met there each year. March 2020 was our last trip, but we have wonderful Memories of almost forty years of traveling.
Thank you so much for sharing your memories ❤ It sounds like you had some wonderful times. It's kinda wild to think how the Earth Roamer compares to the van camping you did in 1974 right!? ❤ Are your kids into camping with their families because of growing up with that kind of vacation? I was born in the mid 70's so I have teenagers now and they love to camp out!
Lovely story
As a late teen of the early 70s you lived my dream life! ❤ thanks for sharing.
such a nice story thank you
@@TheMinimalistTherapist Both our children love to travel and our daughter has lived in Mexico, Spain, Chile, Puerto Rico, and now California. Our son is a teacher and in 2010 he took a year off and moved to Sayulita, Mexico, with his wife and two children where he taught at the Costa Verde American school and his children attended the school. He and his family travel whenever they can, and his children are following in the family tradition.
25:56 Kara running past Nate screaming ‘let’s go’ is the funniest thing EVER🤣🤣🤣🤣
I loved that part! Also when she first went under the shot with the mountains and trees in the distance was just epic. This episode made me smile so hard.
I bought my LTi because of your first ER video, Spent 7 months in it. 3 months in Alaska, 2 months in Canada, 2 months in the US Rockies. In our first month in the LTi we ordered the SX. We will pick it up in May and plan to spend five years traveling throughout North, Central, and South America. Thanks for the inspirational videos. We have done many things you have and you help us build our bucket list.
Epic!
I hope you bring along private security
Must be nice to have a MIL to throw away on a souped up Chevy😉 a MILLION $$ I bet it comes out to even more than that. I guess if I had money to burn I wouldn’t care what others thought about what I buy. Enjoy your trip through the Americas.
@@gemnicherry2670He's obviously been successful in life. Good for him.
Does it come with spare LTi and two technicians ? 😃
Had to ask since Nate keeps complaining that they won't let them go unescorted 😃 Of course they won't - even a small mishap ca escalate into colossal damage. So a real correlated question would be - how much is insurance and does anyone even sell it (covering real equipment failures and potential damages, not just "highway and parking dings").
You doing the flashbacks to your van experiences, it made me think of how you guys did the most with what you had. Now you have the freedom to do your dreams. The growth is beautiful to see and I just can not stress it enough.. ya'll deserve this.
The highlight of my weekend is watching your videos, and last week while watching my 6 year old neice, I found out it is the highlight of her weekends as well! I didn't even know she started watching your videos, I have been watching since 2019! 💕
P.S. I live in Northern Wisconsin and am excited to see your video when you are here this fall! 🧡 I highly recommend going on the ATV trails or pontooning.
That's so cool!!! I've been watching their videos since March 2018! My dad introduced me to K&N, and it was by complete accident. I was so hooked by then and now I'm so hooked to the point where I figuratively in my head jump up and down whenever a new vlog is uploaded on RUclips!! ❤ they're truly one of the best travel vloggers out there!
It’s also fun to go back and watch the beginning videos. A lot of things have changed about their videos but the one thing that hasn’t is them. Their your crazy funny friends who take you on trips with them and gives you that warm happy feeling.
Same ❤❤
I would like this but the likes are at 111 and that’s good energy. Many blessings
This might be one of my favorite videos. The absolute joy on Nate’s face when you were skiing matched Kara’s joy in doing the cold water plunge. The earthroamer is a dream❤ You guys are so lucky!
I love how Kara is like I am just going to add a few things and adds in like 20 more ingredients.😂 Keep doing what you guys want don't let anyone tell you otherwise. ❤
Lol
I’m glad someone else caught that 😂
The Earthroamer is a dream when you see it at the Overland shows, but to see all functionalities at work in these extreme conditions makes it all the more impressive. Kara and Nate portrayed perfectly all the fun you can have with this magnificent overland vehicle.
Who else loves Kara and Nate ❤
Fr
Meeee
I love them. Would love to know where Eamon & Bec are. I definitely would love to have a update on them😢
Me me me me me me me me me me me I’m there #1 biggest fan❤❤❤❤
They’re just the BEST ❤❤❤.
Currently sitting in an Earthromer in the snow watching an Earthromer in the snow ,Awsome. 😊
Hahaha good one❤
,ololol
So badass!
I have watched every vlog since Covid .. week after week iv stayed loyal , excited, happy to watch both of you grow on your life journey .. ups , downs, adventure iv seen it all .. bless you both. And thank you for being so genuine 🙏🏻
Do you think you guys would ever do a throw back video where you guys really work with a budget? I love to see your growth of your crazy challenges and luxury vacations! But I SO miss you’re really early travels where Nate really broke down the costs
Who wants to go back to being broke lol
I would love to see them go back to some of the countries in the first year and stay in the airbnbs again now they’re in their 30s. I’m sure they’d have a very different perspective on everything.
Kara looks well rested. Her energy is in this video is bombastic. So glad her and Nate prioritize their personal lives now.
Me too. Your mental health and well being should always come first no matter what
Bombastic… u think she’s bombastic
Was that a side handed compliment
Does that make Nate Mr Bombbastic 🤯
I think that you should take the Earth Roamers to the Upper Peninsula in Michigan. It is so pretty up there. Thanks for sharing this with us. Be well and be safe.
Imagine how epic it would be to see Kara and Nate take the Earthroamer on an African safari!
With all of the upheaval in today’s world, these videos never failed to delight and bring a smile. Thanks so much for your content, it is appreciated more than can be expressed.
The fact that I've been able to watch all 3 videos you've made with earthroamer.. shows that y'all keep making people come back! I've watched y'all for i wanna say 4 years! The first series i ever watched was your antarctica cruise, then I was hooked! I Watched all your extreme challenges, and your highs and lows! I just want to say thank you! I know you probably won't see this, but I Love y'all Kara and Nate.
•Love your number 1 fan Maddie•
Nate always looks genuinely happy when you guys are in a snowy place. It made me want to travel during winter!
Guys, I've just restarted back to the 1st video.. and realised your 1st bad decision of going to the lounge even with no time!!! And chasing nate is still your most endearing traits. Love you guys ❤❤❤❤😊
I love how he brings you coffee every morning. That is so sweet!
Lets keep the Tradition Going! Maybe next time yall can take the Earth Roamer to the Beach and go Surfing! Love yall cant wait for the next upload!
Wow guys, this was awesome. Love that kara was pushing out of her comfort zone..
Keep being happy doing this.
I think we need kara and nate living in an earth roamer for 3 months on the road ❤❤❤
It's Amazing how you two never cease to keep it FRESH!!! LOVE YOUR ADVENTURES!!!!❤
Hey Kara and Nate. This will be our eight year following you guys, It never gets old. Jim, Harriet and Yuki
Kids, you have no idea how much I love and envy you. Colin, on one of the sailing channels, and I am going to paraphrase this, "When you get older, you are not going to regret the things that you did, you are going to regret the things you didn't do". At 85, I of course can no longer partake in the adventures that you engage in, but I can totally enjoy the joy that you show in most of the challenges that you partake in.
Please keep it going, as you, along with a few others, make my week and give me a reason to fire up my computer, and watch another adventure.
Awesome video as always Kara and Nate. I always look forward to watching your Earthroamer videos if y'all are taking requests for new locations to take the Earthroamers how about Death Valley. Thanks for letting us ride along with y'all on y'all's adventures.
Kara I think the one thing you need is an Ember mug. It’s one of those things that seems ridiculous until you have one. Keeps your coffee at the prefect temperature ❤️
What a beautiful backdrop to highlight that amazing EarthRoamer! Since that's something I'll never get to own, I love living vicariously through you two. Even now, 7 years after first finding your channel, your content still entertains me, informs me and inspires me. I truly love you guys so much!
Aww that’s lovely to hear! Thanks for all the love for 7 years! ❤
I love when Kara said, "For once I convinced him."😄
It's finally great to see a video of earthroamer winter camping. Especially the sx. Outstanding. I really want to more videos of ALL earthroamer says it can do.
Great video!!
Absolutely legendary! Love that you still go out and do crazy things when presented with luxuries like a $1 million van! Going for the polar plunge must have been a great way to end any adventure! Hopefully we get to do this in Canada sometime soon!
Travel safe!
Love,
The Upshot Project
When Kara and Nate are on, my week, it looks good ahead. Love you guys❤
In reference to airdropping the truck. I was a parachute rigger in the army "Back at Bragg" and worked in an aerial delivery platoon. Looks like the height of the truck would be too much for a C-130 but might be doable from a C-17.
Greetings from Bama. Former parachute rigger "I will be sure always" "The world is our dropzone" "F it, it'll open"
Carlos
I know there’s a lot of hustle behind the scenes and that this is their literal job, but man do Kara and Nate still manage to seem humble and lucky they get to experience all these cool adventures and happy to do so! I’m sure sometimes can be more challenging than others for them 😅 They’re the best!!
Kara, you are THE most adventurous woman ever!!!!!! Mad respect!❤
As a Coloradoan, thanks for not specifying where in CO you are to help keep our nature, nature.
so epic watching for
jamaica 🇯🇲 ❤
I love watching how far y'all have come. Watching your adventures makes my heart so happy. ❤
Anyone who gets excited about "military grade" was never in the military.
Lol. So true! USN vet here.
Soooo…..when do you become official ambassadors of the company??
Absolutely love it - what an adventure guys - skiing right to it?! - UH-MAZING - if we could afford one we'd get one just for that reason!
What an incredible setting! BRING IT TO SCOTLAND NEXT! we'll show you some magical spots!
I got my AG1 today!!!! I'm so excited to start this new chapter of my healthy living!!!! 🎉🎉
"Military grade" yeah as prior military, I can confirm that doesn't mean much. Just cheap stuff that the DoD acquired from the lowest bidder.
This is one big glorified commercial.
😂😂😂
I remember watching your first earth roamed video and thinking that is such a cool experience. I’m glad it’s become a tradition I look forward to watching more to come🎉
You guys should go revisit Cero Gordo when the new hotel opens, I think it’s important that the historic sight should be preserved and with the new cerro gordo book and audio book you guys could help share and and show that importance. I think that you guys would be perfect to show all the new work that’s been done. Love you guys and your channel have a great day✌️❤️
This car seems to be such waste of money, huge overpay. Tiny, small and claustrofobic and 1 mln$ for that??
True be I feel like those people really just wanna explore
Pretty entertaining for a thrity minute infomercial. Love most of your videos, but....sigh. You gotta make a living right?
Had somewhat similar feeling since was not expecting an infomercial when I opened the video, but then if someone is considering renting one, pretty good content imo
In that case, all of the first class videos are infomercials too. I enjoy watching them experience these amazing things, and I like the in depth tours. As someone who won’t be able to afford one of these in my lifetime, it’s pretty cool!
You sound frustrated 😂😂😂
For content creators everything is kind of an infomercial no? Just like tvs shows, bills have to be paid
I'm only here for the infomercial.
You two have been part of my weekly RUclips videos for years now! Love watching you guys grow and explore. ❤
The fact that they made a earth roamer out of a 2023 Ford is absolutely awesome
‼️PROMOTION ALERT ‼️ (Whole Video)
Cool. This channel has turned into a commercial.
the arctic flash back was cool. i love how those people were fishing with people bait.
Wow, the Earthroamer is amazing - they’ve thought of everything so all you have to do is decide on your next destination. I’d love to see you drive up to Deadhorse and through Alaska in one of those. Great video.🚐👏
Nah, just feels like a big ad to me. Sorry, guys.
I’m not complaining! 🤷🏻♀️
Same it's beautiful 😍
It is
I love you guys but you are becoming really boring. I don’t care about fare drop or daily drop or earth roamers or challenges 2:45 . I would really like to see some actual travel videos since this is supposed to be a travel channel. I like to watch your old videos to remember what I actually liked about you guys but you are making it really difficult to keep being a subscriber
Yeah it would be nice if they travelled to some of the most popular places like Thailand and China
I feel the exact same way. I am over all the miles, points and credit card infomercials. I want them to go back to visiting new countries and making actual travel videos.
Holy 🐄 🏔 #WinterizingCampers 🌫❄🚙 #WinterCamping 🆒🏂🎿
This was an epic video. So jealous, love the skiing ⛷️, the cold plunge was insane, and the bbq looked amazing. Hi five to Earthroamer.
Oh no guys, advert at the start, sales pitch in the middle and the clip stopped FOUR time for more adverts in only 28 minutes. Becoming a bit difficult to enjoy now, viewing pleasure being ruined by the pursuit for 💵
Ladblock
All the 'luxury' content is getting really old really fast, most of the people that watch your content are not the 1%er's.
Isn’t that exactly WHY to watch, to experience & live vicariously?
@@dottiebalmoral No. The only reason I watch their channel is for the vanlife content and travel adventures. I do not give a shit about a video that is nothing more than an advertisement for a ridiculous million dollar motorhome.
@@chrisdaniel1339 fair enough. To each their own.
@@chrisdaniel1339I’m with you. This is a long commercial for a major gas guzzling monstrosity. Definitely no stealth camping with this is the need arises .
The team did a fantastic job, and it was truly impressive. It's great to see Kara stepping out of her comfort zone. Let's continue to find joy in these experiences❤
Hey my wife and I are in Colorado too!
We drove up to Silverthorne and got elevation sickness!
We road it out like champs and were still here!
Oh they are so cute - I unsubcribed.
So a you are doing infomercials for rich people toys now, not good😢😢😢
Whomp whomp 😂 they r just showing u….. like half there vids 😂
No, There Not. Why do you think you can just say that. 🧐🥱
They need to make money to keep making these amazing videos for us
Oh my gosh you guys that is so neat it always warms my heart when I see that you're in Colorado. That is one big honking machine :-) I love you guys so much Don't be strangers come back to Colorado anytime can't wait for the next video. I was freezing just watching you guys 😂
That was epic!!! Thanks for sharing and bringing us along. As a person who will probably never ski I love being able to ski with you guys. Love you!!!
This was one long commercial.. normally i enjoy your video.
What did you want them to do? Not show of any of the interior of the vehicle? Blur it out when its in the background of outdoor shots? They got a chance to go camping in an luxury camper and made a video showing it off. If that annoys you then thats kinda just pathetic tbh
Kinda the point
I get so excited every time you post I’ve seen every single one of your videos! You give me adventure in my life since I’m a stay at home mom of 3 I can’t really go anywhere and I’m only 27 lol but I truly love watching you guys videos ❤
Girl, you are not alone! I am a stay at home mom of 2, and I’m 35 yrs old. Can’t really go many places myself right now because of finances and other reasons. One of the reasons why I watch Kara and Nate and other vloggers! They definitely help those of us kinda stuck where we are lol
I always think your earth roamer videos are just going to be a boring tour, but they are always so fun. This looked like you had a laugh filming it. How cool you get to experience things like this. ❤
Oh that thing is basically a whole house on wheels! Loved this video, as always great videography. Great highlighting the Earthroamer in nature like that and giving a piece of a dream
Awesome video Kara and Nate! Makes me and my hubby want to rent an RV and visit the mountains of Colorado. One thing you can make this video and future videos more authentic: don’t get up in the morning to turn on the camera to then record you going back to bed and then you “waking up” to act like you actually just woke up (and editing the footage later). If you have just grabbed the camera bedside and filmed you actually waking up, it would have given this whole video a more true, authentic vibe. Just a suggestion. 😊
I love that you guys make the most of opportunities like these and don't take anything for granted
I always appreciate Cara. Super interested in how she's always wearing that purple layer. She must love that thing.
AG1 is the only influencer-sponsored product I’ve ever bought and it changed my life.
Anywhere in Colorado, any time, any season. It's always perfect there. 🥰
You guys crack me up! Nate getting a shoe polish for his Birkenstocks; Kara wearing her PJs off the plane; love it. Thanks for your videos.
Wow epic! That reminds me of growing up!
Canadian north and back country skiing with my parents!
I don’t like snow, mountains, and this looks like my worst nightmare… but seeing yall so happy and having fun makes me happy❤
Kara I need to know where you get all your athletic everyday wear, they’re just so perfect for all the travelling you do!
What a dang blast! Looks like an amazing amazing time. When the economy makes it such that this kind of luxurious time and vehicle and such could be a very "let them eat cake" kind of thing, you guys' personalities and genuineness and loveliness truly just makes this a beautiful escape. So much fun to see. We appreciate your work.
I'm glad there are some that can afford a 1.1$ Mill rig to go camping. When I was making 6$ an hour, had a Bare bones CJ5. Coleman, 1 lamp, 1 tiny stove, Old tent, tarp, a 4$ cord of wood bought allong the road, Very expensive first gen thermarest(about 1-1/2") and a very fine 75$ Sleeping bag. But It was Fun. Still don't complain neither my Daughter, He, He Could go where you can't. But why not
Have to agree on the cold plunge and Kara’s face as she ran past you! FUN! Love seeing the features but incorporating a story too! Next location for an Earth Roamer trip would be a temperate rainforest like the Olympic Peninsula. Would be cool to see the Roamer’s capability to bring toys: maybe some mountain bikes, off road one wheels, or really extra tow a mobile sauna and then cold plunge. 2nd choice MT and tow a horse or llama trailer for a fun side story.
When I hit my retirement goals and win the lottery this Roamer is on the list. I have a Yamaha TRW and like off roading…..would be so fun to make that part of the mix.
Still chuckling over Nate’s “No you didn’t!” comment to leaking liquid last Roamer trip. These comedic moments make your videos!
Your fit with Roamer assisting them with Marketing their products is a custom event. I work from home and on the road & truly did appreciate “the best office ever” and “Starlink’s ability to clear snow” comments. Just had trouble with a good connection during storm while in Breckenridge CO so relatable.
I surely see a very warm climate and beach in your very soon future Kara, well deserved❤️
What a beast 😮 Everything is just perfect, well designed and of course top quality ❤ And for next year I would like to see the EarthRoamer in Alberta or anywhere ice cold with snow in Canada. Kudos for the cold plunge thanks to the happy enthusiasm from Kara 😂
Thank you, I enjoyed this beautiful video today and felt like I was with you. 🌹🌹🌹🌹❤❤
You guys are awesome couple! Its great to see the fun one can have when everyone works together. Love the rig! What would a trip through death valley. Badwater basin is the lowest point in north america at 286 feet, and mount whitney the highest mountain in the us is 84 mi away. Keep on camping!
Hey Kara and Nate , love this video and I’m so happy you all are doing well!! I signed up for the AG1 🎉 thank you 😊 I look forward to seeing another video.
Recently found your channel and you two do such an amazing job to make us viewers feel like we are on the adventure as well. Keep up the great work.
I love the videos; you guys are adorable together. The Earthroamer would be so amazing to own. Thank you for posting.
Have to add, you are the BEST. ❤ you both and never stop 😁
I’m with you on the toilet thing. That’s the main thing holding me back from really feeling 100% comfortable with being off grid.
The short clip of Nate in the river had me rolling 😂.
Waiting for the day when you get your own EarthRoamer. It would be so cool to see you travel a far distance in one
I could swear I saw something like this in Denver. At a hotel right off of Tower Rd. I think they had Starlink too because mine was trying to mesh with their router.
What didn't you like about the Earthroamer?
The SX would come in handy for eclipse viewing in New England. The path of totality is going right over western Maine, including a couple of mountains, but it'll be cold RV weather.
Thanks for the avalanche safety shout out. Recreating in winter environments is beautiful but can be dangerous. Dont forget to look at avy forecasts before you leave! You two should consider doing and avalanche course! They have a cool one in montana where you get to go backcountry skiing and stay in a yurt for 3 days :) love yall.
Did you hear any loon-wolves?! lol (thinking back to your boundary waters trip, I was dying).
cold plunge benefits end when you get in the hot water after. always end with cold :) another greate episode!
I appreciate all your adventures..there should come a time when both of you sweeties settle down. ..somewhere you both enjoy..build a home and start a blessed family. I think all of your RUclips family would love that.
We appreciate both of you.
Life is short. Families are worth it my dears..Love..Laura and Robert..From New Hampshire...married 35 years😊
