    Looking forward to your upcoming Romania videos! Romania was easily one of my favorite countries in Europe. So cheap, beautiful and good food. I feel the same way as you guys did about Poland. I totally had the idea before going that it would be kind of run down and not so nice. Every city I visit in Poland was fantastic. Both countries are underrated!

    Bucharest is a great choice to visit, especially after Warsaw, as both cities have a couple of things in common - for example, both claimed to have been having a title of the Paris of the East at some point of time (although Warsaw named itself Paris of the North curiously) - Warsaw because of the lush and extravagant lifestyle of Polish elites in the 1920s and 1930s (cabarets, aristocrats, writers and cafes) that was all lost in WW2. Bucharest, because of close language and cultural ties to France and the rapid development of the city in the late 19th century (and also they have their own Triumphal Arch). Both of the cities have been heavily destroyed - Warsaw by war, Bucharest by an earthquake in the 1970s and then the crazy dictator's megalomaniac rebuilding in the 80s. And both capitals happen to have a huge controversial communist building at the very centre (I highly recommend visting Bucharest's Palace of Parliament). Looking forward to what you'll discover there! :)

      In Bucharest you should consider visiting Piata Obor- big semi-open air market with traditional food and other things. It is nothing special but you can feel true Romanian (non-capital) vibe there :)

    Hi! This is your "sharp turn right" guy ;] I don't know what your travel plans are for Romania, but from my experience, I can recommend you two fantastic places - Transalpina and Transfagarasan roads. I'm sure you'll be able to read about them, and their history online, but riding them, and seeing all those stunning views is unforgettable. To get a glimpse of what you might expect, search youtube for "Top Gear Romania". So, they're west of Bucharest, and you would need to rent a car to get there. I'd choose to go there on a week day, because on the weekends Transfagarasan gets quite crowded. And don't worry, riding through Romania isn't that scary, once you get used to it ;)
    Romania is a great place, with even better people, but in my opinion it's more of a "go to beautiful places and sleep in a tent" country. Just be aware of wild bears living in it's mountain regions ;) Have fun!

    • @iwonanieves8693
      @iwonanieves8693 6 лет назад

      It would have been controversial a while back. Cracow used to be a capital of Poland, before they moved it to Warsaw. There was always a competition between the two cities and people living in it. In my opinion, Cracow is more interesting to visit, because Warsaw became way too commercial, and Cracow kept the beauty of the past. It's always more interesting to visit the places that look different, cause most of the world starts to look very similar.

    I loved visiting Romania. Best is of course Brasov (read as Brashov), but Cluj-Nopoca was also great, Oradea and Arad are fine. Iasi (read Yashi) reminded me Poland from 90ties most shitty commie blocks with few fine spots. Bucarest has mad traffic first time i saw something like straight from Baghdad in Europe. Enjoy Your stay there its a great country to visit. Oh and If You can try visiting nearby Moldavia for its vines one of the better in Balkans(tough i love Hungarian Tokai and Bulgarian Mavrud).

    Romania is a country of many contrasts. You will see A LOT of good mixed in with bad in this country and sometimes it's what gives it its charm, but other times it's what deters tourists from visiting us. We are still undercivilized and ill-mannered here and there, but overall you will have a great experience visiting our country. Romania is a fascinating conglomerate of multiculturalism, history, architecture, and culture. If you only care about architecture and history probably the big cities is what'll want to visit, but if you care about scenery and food the countryside is definitely the place to go.
    Regardless, Romania has so much to offer to tourists of all walks of life and interests that you'd need at least a few months to visit all of the worthwhile sightseeings. I haven't watched the other videos in your Romania playlist, but before this day is over I will have watched them. But even so, I dare predict that you haven't visited A LOT of places that are worth your consideration, which means.... we expect a return from you, especially since you seem nice and well-mannered guys, and that's something I always appreciate in tourists :)

    Funny is when you visited my hometown- Gdańsk I was watching your vids from Bucharest where I get by the same plane from the same airport in Warsaw. Now I'm in Gdańsk and you're in Bucharest;) About graffiti and tags- you can see lot's of them on Piata Universitate area. They've been done by protesters during huge antigevernmental demonstration on witner 2016/17. They coverered even old university buildings and statues of Romanian heroes which is not ok in my opinion but still interesting to see.

    Question: You say that you want to see this and that, but your schedule is tight and you need to move on. If you travel full time and your time is your own, then why the rush? For slow travelers, you seem to be in somewhat of a hurry.

    • @DanegerAndStacey
      @DanegerAndStacey  6 лет назад

      Haha can understand how that comes across, but it’s not what we’re referring to. For the past few months, and about 1 more in advance, we’ve pre booked everything. 6 weeks in Poland was chilled, we’re crazy relaxed, plenty of time to work, vlog, edit, explore - it’s an amazing balance. The references were making aren’t because we’re rushed, it’s because maybe we would have liked to stay in a spot a little longer or because of all the suggestions to visit other places. That’s the weigh up though, cheaper, less flexible, less stress and relaxed vs go with the wind, more expensive and flexible. We’ve done both before and this way is a lot more relaxing, we’re in zero hurry.

    I grew up in the building showing at 11:11. briefly at 11:11 you can see the internal courtyard of the olympic club building on the left, then progressing forward it's a church, shown in the next shot and 2 internal courtyards of 2 buildings on vasile lascar street. number 21 (the one u were in) and number 23 the one on the "right"ish in 11:11 shot. omg i grew up there... sec. u were on the second floor ap number 4. I was one floor up, ap 9. one the other side of the building but still.
    I can't believe the coincidence or whatever. It's Vasile Lascar street, on the corner with Italiana street.
    EDIT: You were on the left side of this building: www.google.com/maps/@44.4387588,26.1075797,78m/data=!3m1!1e3
    On the left side (up) is the church, bellow is the olympic club (it says chess club - but for 10 years it was the olympic - actual olympic ... national olymic committee. it's the national offshoot of the international organization that actually organizes the olympics... and that's their branch in romania. it use to be a chess club. since like 2005 it was the olympic thing. not sure they are still there now. I know the owner of the house. it's just another house in the UNESCO heritage site, that the owner cannot do anything with it according to law, because it's protected, but it's expected of the owner to maintain the site and make sure it doesn't degrade in time. but I know the owner and it's an old lady, Doubt she's still alive. she used to be an old lady when i was a kid, 20 years ago. have no idea who inherited that house.
    Anyway, a bit up on the google image is the church. you can see it in their video at 11:12.
    And ofc the 2 buildings. the one u guys were on (the one i grew up in) and the one shown on the right at 11:12. both of those buildings are marked as vulnerable to earthquake. marked by the large red circle outside the building.
    I remember my neighbour from the second floor.:)

    Romanians conquered Poland in 1657! They even speak like people from Transilvania but they are rather like moldavians. 🇷🇴🇵🇱

    I did agree with you on Plovdiv, being an amazing place but I don’t think Bucharest is a fascinating city (and I’m Romanian).. Bucharest is an absolute nightmare

      It varies - but some of the local places are only 5 RON, which is 4.65 Zl! Can be up to double that in a 'cool cafe'.
