Hi everyone! I’m so excited for this song. It’s been with me for so long, and now I finally release it on its own odyssey! The video for “Hearts Are Opening Up” is part of continuous collaboration with the very talented Kosuke Sugimoto. The story is set at a space academy sometime after “Last Chance” and before “Keep This to Myself.” In each of the video installments, we try to use some different visual techniques like Last Chance’s use of collage, or KTTM use of paper texture and puppet-like animation. In this one, we experiment with using 3D. The song’s anthemic feel and warm & buoyant message made 3D feel like the right choice. I’m so proud of all these videos we have made, and I hope you can enjoy the evolving story, from Last Chance to this one. I’ll be doing my best to respond to comments here today (10/18). As a musician I can relate to 1:36 a whole lot. when you're stuck in that rut and then all of a sudden you get that A-HA moment and you're like "wait, THAT'S IT!" Everything after that just explodes and becomes a continuous flow of sound and inspiration. Amazing song.
