I feel like this is one of those songs that you hear when you're younger and have no idea what it's called, and then you stumble across it 10 years later.
This was written in memory of frontman Irwin Sparkes' secondary school English teacher, Jonathan "Mr. A" Anderton. Sparkes said he was inspired to write the song upon hearing of Anderton's death in 2006. Many of the lyrics such as: "So busy showing me where I'm wrong - you forgot to switch your feelings on...", were reflective of Anderton's personality as a teacher. Anderton requested his students call him "Mr. A", as he disliked being called "Mr. Anderton". It is from this that the song's title stems.

I have meditated on this issue, and am now convinced that Mr. A was a real superhero and served the people well but at some point the government got scared of him like the dillema of superman and decided to put him down. What happened to this band? The Trick to Life got to No 1 in 2007. It's now 2016 and it's like they never existed. Very sad, they had so much potential. Does anyone know how this band went from having a No 1 album to nothing?

What happened to this band? The Trick to Life got to No 1 in 2007. It's now 2016 and it's like they never existed. Very sad, they had so much potential. Does anyone know how this band went from having a No 1 album to nothing?

they're still around! but they have to self fund these days so you don't get to hear their stuff on the radio sadly! sony (their record label when they started out were knobheads & dropped them, something to do with the second album only getting to number 11.. it had to get top ten or else according to the boss fatcat) sooo that is what happened! but they are still around. they just released their fourth album the secret service a few months back! it is awesome. and yes as someone already mentioned they did a gig here in Hull on Sunday (which i attended) they tour every year (& do festivals too!) check out the hoosiers. com and twitter @ the hoosiersuk and facebook . com/ the hoosiers to keep up with them. they really are as amazing as always, if not better in fact! they just keep improving with every gig, with every song/album. it is a massive shame they do not get the success and recognition they deserve yet talentless drivel gets airtime and the stars get worshipped like gods!! it is such a dang shame
