Marty: You kicked Drew Brees out before we could give him another year to prove himself. Granted things worked out with Philip Rivers, but you still screwed him, Tomlinson and Gates over. That's your problem, Spanos. You can't accept there something wrong with the way you handled the personnel in front office. I've known this for a long time, so did Rod, Cam Cameron and Wade Phillips. Yet, you only wanted to stick your head in the sand and pretend nothing is wrong. That's stereotypical owner mistake, look at Snyder and the former Redskins. As a Chargers fan, I honestly have never been more embarrassed to cheer for this team. Even when they were up 27-0, there was still some doubt in my mind the Chargers would choke it away and they did. The Jaguars earned this victory fair and square and honestly, good for them. Good for Trevor Lawrence for overcoming 4 interceptions. But this loss has to be the worst loss in Chargers history. Brandon Staley and OC Joe Lombardi should be gone by the time the wild card round ends, but Dean Spanos is too cheap to make a big splash in terms of hiring a head coach. He could’ve had Brian Daboll or even Doug Pederson after Anthony Lynn was gone but noooooooo. He wanted the Chargers to imitate big brother Rams and take their defensive coordinator and make him Sean McVay 2.0. If Staley and Lombardi stay after this blunder, I don’t know if I can see myself cheering for this team next year. I’m sorry, but seeing this team build me up with hope only to spit in my face in a big game is straight-up frustrating.

Special mention should go to them having a chance at not one, not two, not even three, but FOUR quarterbacks that wound up winning Super Bowls with a different team
I'm counting Peyton Manning because, allegedly, right before that draft, Ryan Leaf was talking shit about the Colts, which prompted them to take Peyton. I say "allegedly" because I remember seeing something about Ryan's shit-talking a few years ago, but I could 100% be wrong about this.
Drew Brees WAS looking good for them until he fucked up his shoulder, then they let him go to New Orleans
They drafted Eli before THAT trade happened
...while Ben fucking Roethlisberger was available.
After 2004 it went as follows
      2005: Ben wins Super Bowl
      2006: Peyton wins Super Bowl
      2007: Eli wins Super Bowl
2008: Ben wins another Super Bowl
2009: Peyton VS Brees Super Bowl (Brees won)
2010: none of them win, but that's also the year of infamously dogshit Special Teams singlehandedly keeping the Chargers out of the playoffs
2011: Eli wins another Super Bowl
2015: Peyton wins another Super Bowl with division rival Denver.

I hate being a chargers fan, fire Staley and bring in Sean Payton. Firing Joe Lombardi wasn’t enough. Fuck Dean Spanos we never should have left San Diego. Justin Herbert would be San Diego’s hero if we were there still.
Edit: Payton’s going to Denver, sell the team Spanos.

2:51 It's funny, the Clippers have the abbreviation "LAC". The Chargers have the same abbreviation in the NFL. "The Clippers of the NFL", indeed.

Tree hates Dean Spanos with a passion. I'm not a Chargers fan, but I heavily despise what he's put this franchise through.

ive been a chargers fan since 05. This is heartbreaking. I just feel numb. Staley and Dumbardi have to go. A buddy of mine sent me a message at halftime saying "You gotta be happy right now" My response was "Not until the clock reads 0" Every one of us Charger fans deep in our souls knew not to celebrate. Im not even surprised. This hurts man.
