Those two represent my family. My father is Salvadoran and my mother is Dominican. And my absolute favorite Salvadoran dish is guisquil relleno.

Kim yes it is. One thing I definitely learned growing up was how to call things, especially foods, in two different ways because each parent called it by a different name.

+ Lmao! I don't understand how Plantains became associated as something uniquely Dominican. As if we are the only ones that eat it. Or as if that's just the only thing we eat. A lot of other countries have unique plantain dishes that they do. I'm dying to try those Salvadorian empanadas though. Yum! And the crazy thing is that I live in NYC & I know where there is a Salvadorian restaurant that I use to live like 5 minutes away from.
