I was very content watching this video, cause I’ve grown up with these foods, so seeing others enjoy them is truly special. The foods were represented accurately, and the commentary was honest and open-minded. As a salvadoreña, I’m glad they liked it
Mexicans do eat alot of black beans but mostly in southern Mexico like in Oaxaca and Chiapas. I been to those states plenty of times and folks down there mostly eat black beans 1:35

My moms only relative here in the US, my uncle, married a Salvadoran woman and she has plenty of family nearby, and I grew up going almost every weekend and having my Salvadoran aunties making my bro, my cousins, and me all kinds of different foods lol
They loved that I looooooooveeeeee Pupusas lmao my aunts would always make them for me and ask me which tasted better each time even if other aunts weren’t around 🤣🤣 I cherish those memories with all the cousins too, Thank you guys 👌🏼

OC has some salvadoran/mexican joints. You'll get a mild and spicy option for salsa usually. Pupusas next to tacos is a win though.

salvador horchata is sooo good, it's thicker than the Mexican version, still delicious, with more spices i think. very good
It all looks pretty decent, i first had pupusas when i was in my twenties. I don't know why we don't make them up here, so easy to make and so good

I just wanna say those Pastelitos and that yuca frita were looked kind of sad. We actually eat them with curtido and the yuca is almost drowned in salsa. We never eat just a simple salad with them

We don't really eat black beans tbh, most Salvadoran dishes will only have kidney beans or refried kidneys. Also, jalapeño on the curtido is a common thing to add a spicy kick. Cheese HAS to be Petacones. But you really killed it with the salpicón, such an underrated, underapreciated dish. It's the best for the hot days (which is 99% of the time here).

Chicharron .. man.. always thought it was pork belly (as most would call it) but i ordered once and got a bunch of fried pork chunks and was upset - even though their online picture is of pork belly- lol
