Was learning about Timeline in one of Unity Learn's projects, but the project I was doing had you create an animation with the animation track before they taught you how to actually make an animation clip with Timeline! Not only that, but what's taken me about 30-40 minutes to learn in Unity Learn, you've taught in less than 9 minutes. I miss you, Brackeys.
From the end of 2022, never used Timeline before, I looking for any reviews, and I'm here, on 5-years old Brackeys video! It's not very professional, examples are not very production relevant, but such a positive, chill and simple review of unity tool is what I was exactly looking for and Brackeys is perfect at it. I just want to say thank you for all your work!
I just have to say, the folks at Brackeys make the best Unity Tutorials out there. I found a tutorial made by Unity on relatively the same thing that was almost 1 hour long and 25 min in I realized I wasn't getting very far. Sure enough Brackeys had a 8.5 minute tutorial on the same thing that is very clearly explained while keeping it straight to the point. Thank you all so much!
Literally the only tutorial that explains clearly the relation between the node, the timeline, the animation tracks, etc. THANK YOU. Without you, unity wouldn't be worth s**t.
Thanks to this tutorial, I was able to easily animate a sprite beginning in Idle, run to the right - while playing running anim, then stop - returning back to idle anim. Many years later and this channel is still massively valuable resource.
Thank you so much for making this tutorial! Timeline is very exciting I can't wait to get stuck in to using it in my projects! It would be great to see you using Timeline in one of your full/livestream tutorials too, the possibilities seem endless! Thanks again!
I always wanted to know how to animate two different objects in unity and I finally got the answer after watching this video. Thanks a lot Brackeys! Keep up the good work! 👍🏻👏🏻
I don't know how many times you got me out of sticky situations at the office (as an intern at that). Thanks a lot for all the knowledge you have shared with us :)
Really love this channel, I'm new to Unity and I do know C++ (yes I know we use C# in Unity, but for the programming basics it's good to know already C++) very well. But Unity and creating simple games is completely different. Currently at part 11 of the tower defense battle tutorial (in 1 day :D), after watching almost all your simple and small tutorials. The reason why I love your channel is because the tutorials are short and only filled with information you need, keep it up! :D
I've been dreading learning the complexities of animating a cutscene!! Pretty mellow 8 mins got me feeling fairly confident on messing with it. Cheers!!
Fantastic work Brackeys. I always enjoy your tutorials. It's refreshing seeing high quality and unique tutorials from fellow Unity users. We should collaborate on something one day. Could be a cool video or project.
This tutorial is crystal clear and explained what's a timeline effectively, however I wish this tutorial would further extend to some practical uses of it by using the animator instead of deleting it. Obviously keyframing shouldn't be done in unity.
Great vid! I have two questions. #1.. Could you make a tutorial for an arcade style attract mode in unity? #2.. How do I make a new scene appear when the cut scene ends? You are my favorite youtuber! Thanks for introducing me to unity.
7:16 maybe the sound doesn't play because sound preview is disabled in your scene view (at the top next to 2D mode toggle, light preview, and left to screen effects preview toggle)
It would be good if you could see the audio's preview on the timeline (The same that you see when you select an AudioClip), so you could sync things better without having to play the game
I should have looked at this vid first. I was spending lots of time animating in the animation window and then using the animations in timeline. This kept leading to issues with timing that I didn't have during the animation itself. So, I guess you could still do that or just use the timeline and jump into the animation if needed.
Hi Brackeys! I would like to say, your videos are awesome and led me to creating my very own video game which I love! Oh, and could I ask you something? Could you please make a Photoshop tutorial on how to generate textures like you generated the grass texture in your Ludum Dare 38 video game? Thanks! Keep up the great work!
Can you set the "target" game object of the timeline at runtime? Let's say I want to animate a human to play some animation (they all have the same rig and animator etc) but I can't drag the game object in the timeline editor, because the object is spawned at runtime. They already have animations, basically I just want to "swap" the animator reference of the timeline at runtime.

I was looking for something to help me with a cutscene all day and of course brackeys has a perfect tutorial waiting for me. Thanks again

We know 😘
Brackeyes is a serious legend. 40 minutes video doesn't equivalent to this 9 minutes video. How cool! You get what you are looking for, always.
Thank you! This was a perfect summation of the basics of the tool set for anyone who just wants to quickly get started working with timeline.
Literally the only tutorial that explains clearly the relation between the node, the timeline, the animation tracks, etc. THANK YOU. Without you, unity wouldn't be worth s**t.
as a previous video editor who is just recently getting into unity, this is easier to understand than any other tutorial ive watched haha
Thanks to this tutorial, I was able to easily animate a sprite beginning in Idle, run to the right - while playing running anim, then stop - returning back to idle anim. Many years later and this channel is still massively valuable resource.
I really like how unity is going and I literally love how good these tutorials are
Brackets has to be the best game dev RUclipsr I have ever seen
This was a very succinct breakdown of the timeline. Was exactly what I was looking for. Nice work and thank you
Awesome introduction tutorial ( as always ). But mad props to Unity for adding this to the default engine. Amazingly simple yet expandable.
Thank you so much for making this tutorial! Timeline is very exciting I can't wait to get stuck in to using it in my projects!

love the way you cut to the chase with no nonsense. Thanks
This guy....is in my heart
your tutorial is much better than the tutorials at Unity Learn. seriously
I've been dreading learning the complexities of animating a cutscene!! Pretty mellow 8 mins got me feeling fairly confident on messing with it. Cheers!!
To be honest, this video is better than Unity official tutorial !!! Awesome !
I recently discovered the timeline and when I did I was amazed and then I came here to learn how it works
O my goodness this looks amazing! It’s gonna be cutscenes/events galore with timeline editor!
Simply and elegantly explained. Nice job man!!
It's something I never knew unity had such a hand. After I had a hard time coding the cutscenes to create them
Fantastic work Brackeys. I always enjoy your tutorials. It's refreshing seeing high quality and unique tutorials from fellow Unity users. We should collaborate on something one day. Could be a cool video or project.
Your Here Too???

I like how he gets to the point.
great tut, short, informative, thanx for your work!
It’d be awesome if you could make a video about integrating a cutscene in your game
Thanks to that, I got enlightenment.
Perfect way to explain!!! I hope you will start to make deep and complete tutorials. Thanks!

Super helpful.Thank you
Thanks Brackeys
You're a saint!
that's awesome.... still make videos of timeline and gameplay after cinematic.... I need it 😍😍😍
i like the time line feature and the tutorial. Thanks a lot
It would be good if you could see the audio's preview on the timeline (The same that you see when you select an AudioClip), so you could sync things better without having to play the game
Like always great tutorial, thanks for the great work.
It is possible to hear the audio in the timeline preview window. Just add a game object with an Audio Source and add it to the time line audio track.
Hi
thanks a lot for your tutorials.
Awesome overview, thanks!
Thank you very much! You explain really well.
Wow excellent quality tutorial. Thank you so much.
God you saved me bro!!!
You are awesome!!!
This is fantastic! Can you do a tutorial that meshes Timeline with Cinemachine?!?!
This is really helpful
Thanks man, you are amazing

*Tank* you!
Good night :D i have 10:00 (22:00) awesome film to end day
Hi Brackeys!
I would like to say, your videos are awesome and led me to creating my very own video game which I love!
Oh, and could I ask you something?
Could you please make a Photoshop tutorial on how to generate textures like you generated the grass texture in your Ludum Dare 38 video game?
Thanks! Keep up the great work!
can you please make a video on how to use control track, playable track in timeline
Thank you!
Thank you!
One more question. How can I play the timeline with a trigger ? (Specially a reactor from Mona …)
thanks really helpfull. you're the best.
Can you set the "target" game object of the timeline at runtime? Let's say I want to animate a human to play some animation (they all have the same rig and animator etc) but I can't drag the game object in the timeline editor, because the object is spawned at runtime. This tool is amazing! :D
Unity 2017.2 adds sound waveform in timeline and has animation masks and overrides
Thanks !!
what asset did you use
at 2:19, the record button does not record the movement of the object in the scene. What could be the cause of this?
Can you make a game like The Trail?
