Thanks for the informative video. Is it harmful to walk on padding? The hallway carpet is being replaced at the apartment. but some carpet was left undone near the trash shoot. I suppose it will be finished in a few days. Is the carpet pad like insulation that can cause itching skin or walking on it may cause the pad fibers to spread to other areas ? Is it recommended to vacuum after the carpet install is complete? Thats a great idea to use the shop vac to further remove all the dust before new carpet is put in. Is this standard procedure?
You are welcome and thanks for watching and commenting! It's not harmful to walk on the padding itself, what's more potentially harmful are any potential staples or nails that you can't see under that padding that when you walk on it say bare foot, it may feel okay (get a little dusty or old padding on your feet) but then randomly you get an old staple poking through and it jabs your foot and then uh oh, tetanus! Just be careful and have shoes on if you need to walk in it. Depending on how sensitive your allergies are or if you have asthma or easily irritated skin, you could react to it. Newer carpet padding normally doesn't irritate and it's just manufactured foam. Older carpet padding was made from chopped up mattresses and other furniture insulation all bonded together that was known to irritate the skin almost like fiberglass. A good rule of thumb is if I'm actively ripping up carpet and padding I mask up. If I was a tenant in a building and carpet is being ripped up in front of me, wear a mask and don't linger as they work and get good air ventilation, if they have come and gone and padding is just there and you are worried about walking on it, wear shoes, don't play on it but mask not necessary. @@ColtonCrumpDIY Thanks for the reply. I believe the hallway carpet that was replaced at the 1981 condo hallway corridor (outside the front door) could of been 20-40 years old. If the shop vac was not used to pick up the fine debree after lifting the old carpet, could some of it fall on the new padding and carpet? They used a shovel and broom to detach and clean area.before laying down new padding/carpet. I see some small debree on the new carpet. Is it recommended to vaccum the new carpet after placement to avoid tracking any debree inside? The carpet is not inside the unit, but you have to walk on the hallway which leads to the front door. Thanks!

Lol use a scraper for the staples life saver and takes 2 min to get them all
I wasted more time trying to find easy ways to remove carpet than if I would have just removed the carpet
