I got out of the Navy before they brought in the P-8 so I don’t know how well they do their job but hopefully they are better than the P-3. The P-3 could never find us. I saw one flying around from the periscope looking for us but we were too quiet. It wasn’t just them though, the entire carrier battle group couldn’t find us and we had a field day during those war games. US submarines are incredibly sneaky.

Nice video and flight. Love the added museum tour, especially the Apollo Seven Capsule. That was such a miraculous thing to witness as a kid. We sat glued to the television to see every moment we could. As a kid you knew that those events were something special. As an adult you realize just how unique and special they actually were. The men who flew on those missions were absolutely among the bravest aviators to ever take flight. Imagine jumping into one of those seats with the limited amount of knowledge they had at the time. The rockets of the time had barely reached the point where you could reasonably expect to reach space without the rocket killing you. Then add on the impending fact that you were going to have to make exactly the right attitude to re-entry so you didn't bounce off into the oblivion of space. And if you made it that far, there was also a harrowing prospect of being cooked by the fireball that your capsule was to be engulfed in during re-entry. Every single phase of those flights was yet another opportunity for fate to take your life And still they did it, over and over till they made it as a team to reach the ultimate goal of landing on the moon. Some very special years to live through for certain. Hats off to all who were a part of it for sure.

its a P-8 Poseidon. Sub hunters. They also use them as a torpedo and cruise missile launching platform. It's basically a 737-800ERX. It was brought on-board to replace the Lockheed P-3C Orion. We see both flying all the time here in Jacksonville Fl as we have several squadrons at NAS Jax.

Cockpit looks just like a commercial 737 NG with just a few military extra's. They told me they don't put winglets on them as they cause Ice issues for their operations.

As usual, nicely done Steveo! While sometimes it's more advantageous to sequence the jets ahead of the props to keep the efficiency of the runway up during a rush, I personally wouldn't do that if it means driving the smaller aircraft into worsening weather. Inside of 10 miles from an airport, a TBM will typically keep the same speeds as the jets anyway. Maybe they had something going on that wasn't apparent to us? Hope to see you around at one of the fly-ins this year. Safe flights. :)
