Dude! Can you pls. watch this video yourself - over and over again ... and then realise how BLESSED you are 🙂 I am a retired airline pilot who flew to JFK and Newark almost 3 times a month from Central Europe. On my layovers I would come to the piers and watch YOU guys hovering around and flyin'g in-and-out. While thinking "Man, THAT is the dream job that I would love to have pursued'"... I watched this video with my BT headset on 100% in volume, just LOVE that sound. Bless you, will watch ALL your upcoming videos. Thanks, man! ❤
They refer to the Hudson river as the hell-i-copter highway. It's literally overcrowded with these noisy menaces largely quarter of a century or older in age. Already been 5 deaths when one went down in the East River a few years ago. You're glorifying a noisy and filthy industry impacting many peoples lives. Hell-i-copter tourism is for tourists willing to take their lives in their hands.Ask those dead tourists if it was worth it.
That's a very interesting thing you wrote. I'm a glider pilot and when I can, I enjoy watching heavy aircraft TO and Land. It's such a thrill. So, to hear a heavy pilot talk about enjoying watching helicopters, I found it to be very curious and relatable. I, standing near to the pad, watched a medivac helicopter, TO on a very cold morning. The sight and sounds (and down wash) it made were fascinating. The 'wind chill' that happened for those few moments, had me getting back to a warm car.
I was looking the other day an an uber to JFK from fidi was going to cost me 175 bucks. I think blades start at 350 or something to jfk. Was definitely considering it
Excellent video. I fly a C206 and C182. Very cool watching helicopter operations. You did a very nice job of narrating. I will definitely watch more of your videos. Thanks!
You have to do a separate recording of you talking to call tower and add a voice overlay to the video. Love watching your videos, and as a former helicopter pilot, one of the coolest things is hearing the pilot talk to the call tower! Thanks for bringing back great memories as a helicopter pilot… keep them coming…
Thanks for flying. It's great. I was in New York in 1993 and also flew a tourist tour by helicopter back then. Big loop, started at Heli Port Manhattan South West, then once around the Statue of Liberty, the Twin Towers on my left, once up and down Central Park and back. Wonderful. The pilot used to be in the Air Force. That's how he flew.
Ive come across your video and wanted to say great views and discription of your daily work, would love to see more of these types of content, keep up the great content.
This is a great video! I've been trying to find a video just like this for a while. It's making me miss my time flying for Liberty a while back (from LDJ).
I'm not a pilot, just a helicopter enthusiast who discovered your channel. I've always wanted to visit NYC and maybe someday I can ride with you guys. Thanks for this great video and the subtitles. Loved it.
Yeah most people just think of EMS, fire and police jobs when they think of helicopters. There's plenty of oddball jobs out there though that make this career a sweet adventure
Recently subscriber here. I work at ewr and watch you guys on flight radar and follow along with atc as you move about. This is my dream job. Plus I live in jersey city and quite often you guys are flying past my home with the tour groups. It’s so good to actually see what you see. Love it!
What's your work schedule like as a helicopter pilot? How many days a week do you need to work, or are you on-call at all times? Curious because I am a young aviator in New Jersey
At this job I was on a 10/10 day rotation. Usually worked around 8 until 6 or whenever the tours were finished. Then I went back to Colorado on my off days
Wow, just discovered your channel !! I am subscribing! Super interesting, the equivalent to jetliners channels , but better description of what you are doing ! A voice over would be ideal !!
Great Video...as a GA pilot for 30+ years I've always yearned to fly rotor wing...but time passes by..I've been in many, especially back in the day with full kit and my closest buds...I've stepped out, hopped out, jumped out (from 2-5ft), fast roped out and the worst was trying to be the Bad ar"e looking masked man in full kit only to be thankful no cameras were around as I have fallen out while getting out...The abuse I received for over a month was worse than face planting...Anyway, I do have a question....Is that Mustard or something you brushed against on your way out...on your upper left sleeve...I hope you know that was a weak attempt at humor and jabbing at ya alittle...I was surprised you didn't use a physical check list or your company doesn't require a difital checklist to be validated prior to being given clearance...Obviously, you have no issues but that was always a concern of mine as a GA pilot...I've been in a lot of stressful situations and circumstances but honestly, I'm not certain I would be able to handle the radio/comms flying around all of the airspace...As a GA Pilot when I flew myself (always had 1 other pilot with me) we flew into Tetterboro more than anywhere else...Cessna Citation, Challenger 300 and before those bigger birds had a Lear 45 and started with a Cessna Bravo when moved up from twin props... I would assume the air at skyline height, especially during the summer going over the heater of Manhattan island...aka so much heat being absorbed into the concrete jungle and even in natural areas it's bedrock...then you have to fly over water unless you center-line it and head North...I can not imagine the turbulance or "vortices" caused by natural and more so by air being compressed between all of those buildings, increasing pressure causing the air to act like a blow torch or does it??? I would think turbulence would be more prevelant further inland, westwardly towards NJ from downtown but perhaps I'm wrong...I assume that due to air cooler racing in from the coast/water and when it runs into the massive city...the city acts like a mountain range but with canyons criss-crossing...I'm sure there is plenty of rough air adjacent but also above the city...That is a high pressure, no-fail...no-bad day on the job existence or many people will have a bad day...Very muh respect to you for doing that job...Impressive ps. I was shocked to see how minimumally your adjustments were on both your stick, Pedals and from what it appeared your collective...perhaps you were providing more input than I realized but certainly didn't seem like it...particularly when you in essence slid into your position @ JRA...makes sense about maintaining headwind frontal as long as possible...even then, I went back to watch how much rudder (sorry)...pedal you had to kick in and again...seemed like you barely moved your feet...It is obvious you have completed that route a time or 2 (1000 probably)....Well done young man...well done indeed
Thank you! Yeah unfortunately I brushed up against the helicopter and got some transmission oil all over my sleeve during the pre-flight and didn't have a shirt with me that I could change into. These helicopters certainly are very touchy though and require very little movement. That's something I struggled with when transitioning from my fixed wing certificate.
Thanks for the video, grew up in northern NJ and went to college at Ft Schuyler - dad would sometimes take NY airways from Morristown to the Pan Am bldg to call on customers. Regards from new subscriber!
Earned yourself a sub on this one. Bumped into this vid on my feed and had to tune in. I worked in Midtown for 20 years and always wondered about these routes and how it worked. Cool.
Excellent video. I’m afraid helicopters still scare the living daylights out of me. I don’t think I could get within 100 meters of one let alone on one. Happy to watch from the comfort of my home.
Wow nice to see the Caldwell airport, this is where i Got my certificate on a Robinson 22 in 1992. Instructor was Jeff Morrow. Examiner was Chavez. I liked going on Sunday morning, no traffic. Went around the Statue and took some pictures of the Intrepid. There was no GPS or iPads. Paper map's only! Thank you Blade. God bless.
I'm sure it looks pretty different these days. Those early morning flights down the river were awesome though. Had a few flights where I was the only one on the river and those were nice
While flying business jets for the last nearly 20 years, I am still fascinated by helicopters and just wish they weren't so expensive to fly. A helicopter add-on would be so much fun.
Awesome video. I always drive past this heliport on my way to jersey city and it always looks cool with all the helicopters around. I also probably have heard you on the radio a bunch of times. I fly out of 3n6 and my home airport shares the CTAF frequency with JRA so I’m always hearing the helicopters inbound to their assigned spots. Cool to see it happening.
Great job, wish you included your com's. My son flies the UH-1Y. Never flew over either river, and Im here my entire life. Look forward to your other vids, be safe.
Its really cool to see your cockpit perspective on this area. I used to work in the oil refinery in linden and got to see all the tour and news helis come and go all day long. Now im down south going to flight school. why did you leave tuna boats? I remember in a video you said you really enjoyed it. Also it would be really cool to hear the radio traffic, I remember the Hudson river freq being insanely busy haha.
Oh that's awesome! I was ready to come home after a year at sea and the company was having a lot of legal issues. I had my GoPro plugged into the aircraft but it didn't pick up anything unfortunately
cool to see this perspective, right across the way from the hangar was my old job Haddads inc. from 2013-2017! seen you guys at work before the second hangar was constructed, those heli would shake our building all day long what a time!
Great video! Thank you! As a heli pilot in the UK I am always quite intrigued by the routes taken by single engine helicopters in the USA. There seems to be a lot of low flying in large congested areas, is it an accepted risk over there that in the event of a forced landing then somebody on the ground is probably going to get hurt?
Nice vid. Glad you turned off the music. Thanks for the captions…makes it more interesting. A friend of mine is a heli pilot (private), and I made quite a few vids of his birds over the years, both in and out of the heli. Safe flying !

My son works in Hudson Yards and travels frequently to JFK. An uber can take two hours or more. Blade is around 10 minutes. They do a great job.
Yeah the time savings are pretty awesome and it's not that much more than an Uber at times, especially if you get the blade membership
Uber has an air option that basically just leases rides from this.
I had radio tower projects around LA and I used helicopters to fly my crew and me from Oat Mountain to Red Mountain to Mt. Baldy.
I was looking the other day an an uber to JFK from fidi was going to cost me 175 bucks. I think blades start at 350 or something to jfk. Was definitely considering it

Awesome! Thanks and glad you liked it
Thanks for taking us along. Been watching fixed wing pilot vlogs; nice to see a rotor head pilot vlogging.
Glad you enjoyed it. There's not many videos like this for the heli world
@@sinfulldoubt Keep uploading and we will come. Just found this channel - will sub now
Quite possibly the best video I have ever seen for this sort of thing. Very interesting, very well done! Part II bring it on
Glad you liked it! I'm going to be working on part 2 tonight
One of the best videos of this kind. The POV is excellent along with subtitles, giving a feeling of being there. Really outstanding.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. I'll be working on part 2 shortly
Love all the details and checks that go into making your flight in a busy airspace look so simple.
It definitely keeps us busy but you develop a nice flow which helps. Their training there was the best I've ever received too
Love this videos, thank you for all the hard work and studies to be a pilot, exited for the part 2. Keep aviation alive! BRBR
Thanks!
Absolutely superb and confident flying take care and kind regards to you, Mark from the U.K. 🇬🇧

I flew the 206 Long Ranger and to fly over NY as PIC was always a dream - great video...
Thanks! It was definitely pretty fun
This is a great video! I've been trying to find a video just like this for a while. It's making me miss my time flying for Liberty a while back (from LDJ).
Awesome! I definitely miss it. I'm thinking about applying for ZIP if I don't hear back from some of these other jobs soon
You've inspired me to fly this route on FS2020, going to do that now. Also smooth flying.
Incredible video. My best flight ever! ........great job of explanations and captioning

Nice to see you back sharing your flights. You’ve been missed
Thanks! Hourly I'll have a few more videos soon. I've got some free time right now while I'm job hunting
Awesome video! My wife and I have taken one of these helicopters into the the East 34th Street Heliport! This is the best way to do it!
Oh yeah can't argue with that. I love flying in there
Awesome video and very educational. Love to see more like it. Thanks for sharing.

You're the barefoot tuna boat pilot! I just realized after checking out your other videos. Your skill is unbelievable.
