Reagrding Choujin X, you can tell 2 things from it.
1. Ishida is slow at making chapters cause holy moly the art is on another level. He is doing everything solo. No assistans. All him and you can tell thats a big reason why chapters can take months to release but it is worth it.
2. You can tell Ishida has fun making it and learned a lot from Ghoul. The characters are just as good if not better and while some moments are very grim, the tone is lighter than ghoul (for the most part cause this is Sui Ishida, you will sit thorough some messed up shit). You just get the feeling he is having a better time making it than TG and this results in an overall better reading experience

dang honestly i wrote off tokyo ghoul way back because i only saw the anime but now that i see the art you got me wanting to check it out. i love the exaggerated expression in this panel at 16:59. good shit as usual hope my comment helps with engagement.
the thing is, kubo admitted he drew the white/blank backgrounds because he didn't want to draw buildings out of laziness anymore, it's also why he started allowing his characters to fly in the later arcs, so that he didn't have to draw backgrounds while they were fighting in the sky. it's why 80% of the fake karakura town war arc battles took place in the sky. you can also imagine where the idea of hueco mundo came from in terms of world design/art-style. it's a completely different reason from why ishida used white backgrounds.
Sui Ishida is a guy, he literally has a youtube channel where he record drawing manga on stream.
If you're looking for more tragedy, Land of the Lustrous (Hoseki No Kuni) just finished its 12 year run. It has 12 volumes printed on English so far with a last one coming soon

One of my favourite chapters from TG is the chapter of Kaneki roaming around Japan as Dragon. It’s a completely textless chapter that perfectly captures the utter horror and chaos of a giant fucking Kaiju cancer thing stomping through a metropolitan area. Tokyo Ghoul has been and still is one of my favourite series of all time and really hope more people can enjoy it.
As for Choujin X it’s pretty good too I stopped reading it around chapter 40 cause I was keeping up with the releases of chapters and wanted to wait for the full thing to be done so I can read it all from start to finish.
I remember reading the last arc just being constantlt scared that Ishida would kill off Touka+Kid to give Kaneki a final push.
I was honestly unsure if the story would be granted a happy alending.
I cried reading the final chapters.

Great video as always. Don't have too much to say about Tokyo Ghoul though as I've only ever watched the anime's first season when it came out way back when. Despite being somewhat spoiled watching this video, I still do plan to collect and read the manga when the appropriate time comes. And please try to keep your head up with the whole job situation. As someone that had been unemployed three separate times in the past 10-to-11 years, I know how hard finding a new job can be sometimes. So, I know this probably doesn't help but, I wish you nothing but the best and hope you'll be here on youtube long into the foreseeable future.
if a manga is making money in legacy sales mangakas have an economic incentive to stall new chapters as long as possible. Every new chapter that releases will make the series trend again and sell more back issues, keeping it relevant longer. . Without actually having to do that many chapters, its the most money for less amount of work. HxH could never relase a new chapter but it will still make money for example because people keep discussing it and buying the volumes.
Its not about "muh takes months to draw one page" , specially when its known they are either not working at all or working on other things for large stretches of time

I remember I was following the series 2017-2018 up until the last final chapter released and I remember feeling that things got rushed and felt empty…. But watching this video helped me to remember why I loved reading Tokyo Ghoul and how profound the writing and messages of the story were. Thank you for reminding me of those memories.
Thank you for going over the themes of Tokyo Ghoul and what it’s really about. A lot of anime fans think that Tokyo Ghoul is either some kind of emo show or a Yaoi as a lot of fan girls ship Kaneki with Hide without knowing that he’s straight. Hell, they tend to hate off Touka for getting in the way of Kaneki x Hide and they make up bs excuses like that she was abusive towards Kaneki, that she just uses Kaneki for sex and that she got herself pregnant just to keep Kaneki from leaving. They don’t even know Touka’s side of the story and what she’s going through. Thank god that Kaneki and Touka ended up together because these two deserve a happy ending.

Tokyo Ghoul is a masterpiece. Almost anything in the manga was planned before hand even giving you subtles hints that you only are aware in a second read. And yes, Ken Kaneki is one of the best seinen protagonist out there

This manga is only second to berserk for my buddies and I. Beyond underrated. RE was incredible too. Plot twist galore. Topic of race and true freedom was ahead of it time. Season one of the anime is top 5 anime imo. And let’s not forget that opening 😱

Was a long time hater of this series because the anime felt just mid at best and fell apart after season 1. Only like 2 years ago I finally decided to give the manga a try since ive heard about it over the years and im a much more well read person.
And holy christ the manga blew me away completely. Borderline masterpiece and an easy 9/10 manga for me. Its such a tragedy the anime was made way to early to properly adapt the sheer artistic talent ishida has.

sucks the miraculous fumbling of the anime has tainted the series street cred even though 80% of the people hating count watching 2 retrospectives and a recap as having read the mf.. niggas just straight out here not knowing the art in the manga goes soooo hard and the anime came out in the period where most anime adaptations were ,in retrospect, the embodiment of mid (though they still doing god tier manga dirty today)
Idk what's worse the fact that I used to think stuff like ghoul and Baki wouldn't ever be adapted well or that post jjk lowkey raising the bar way back up (the boarding and direction on one piece has been insane since jjk popped tf off I know I'm not tripping) I now have to live in a world where the baki vs yujiro fight, the initial climax of the entire story, didn't even get a quarter of the love sukuna vs mahoraga which was like one mf chapter ,got... but hey maybe Tokyo ghoul will get that re:do badumtss... sorry

I mean when you talk about the hard R being used in X-Men to compare to being called a mutie/other racist term for mutant, it is extremely comparable when you look at it from the perspective of being in the X-Men universe. Especially with how mutants have canonically been treated in the past and current times of X-Men.

I played sports until 9 yrs,then my mom got me n bro on instruments..my bro stopped..but I had 'IT" bass first...then drums because my mom paid a month😂 and thwn guitar was the thing.

It's hard not to see the various complicated Mentor/parent-Student/Child relationships as expressions of Ishida coming to terms with his own estranged family life. honestly I never thought that tokyo ghoul A series I mainly remember for the Centipede scene has one of the most profound and personal stories out there. Also going out there if we do get an anime reboot it has to be by studio Orange because I think Ishida's style would work much better in 3d.

I watched Tokyo ghoul season 1 back when it aired, but I dropped it cause the concept of rooting for man eating monsters was just not for me. The mother ghoul getting killed by that guy and series attempts to make me feel bad for her just fell flat on it’s face. Honestly there’s no solution than eradicating the ghouls cause fuck getting eaten. Before anyone compares ghoul discrimination to racism. Us humans don’t run around devouring each other or being immune to bullets. We are all the same and none of have bullshit superpowers

i have a slight difference experience with TG anime from other people
kinda understandable if you already read the manga first all the anime will be instant turn off
for me the anime is the first introduction to TG
and i really love the first season maybe its because im still in highschool at the time so after kaneki become full edgy mode i really adore the series
and after season 1 ended i go straight to the manga
and boy my mind is blown away by Ishida artwork if the anime make me love TG the manga makes me obsessed with TG
so when they announce season 2 i was kinda has toned down hype because i start comparing the manga and anime but im still excited
then i realized the worse and worsened pacing of the anime and many things they jammed and cuts from the manga really makes me sad
by the time they announce re anime i already lost any hope for the anime
and joining other people to ignoring the anime existence and just enjoying the manga
