I have a Yamaha Raider 1900 as my second bike for goofing around on.... The power is incredible and Its a blast to ride.... laying on the throttle at any speed will rip your head off! LOVE this thing!!!
My husband bought a 2012 1900 raider a few months ago and he loves it, I ride with him on the back sometimes but I drive my own bike be safe everyone.
You ride with him on the back huh? Does he like it back there?
Looks like an epic machine. I'm disabled so can't even ride a push bike. But I love bikes and your reviews. Thanks so much for taking the time to upload. UK.
I've got 42,000 miles on my '09 Raider and she's a trusty steed, great acceleration, handles wonderfully and see no reason to own another bike anytime soon!
I ride a Harley Davidson but respect Yamaha cruisers immensely...
also the kawasaki vulcan 2000, the triumph rocket 3, the suzuki m109r... theres a couple more lol
'
oh and the honda vtx 1800, duh
I ride a Royal Star Venture. Best bike I've ever owned.
Vmax will eat any HD sold
@@jordanjoestar8839 not the point though, is it? We're talking about biker-to-biker respect, not drag times.
I bought my 2008 Yamaha Raider from SRK Cycles and I LOVE it! Very comfortable and tons of power! The guys at SRK are great to work with too.
Did you get a bible reading to?
Just saying, my 09 raider gets about 42 MPG under normal operation. Start playing with it it gets about 35 mpg. Just love it! Go get you one, be safe ride safe.
That is still considered pretty good for a 1900cc motorcycle with that much power! Nothing at all to complain about and taking under consideration there are other motorcycles out there with half the power that will give you same gas mileage.
Ran into a guy at a bike meet with a Raider before, he had a turbo slapped on it and dyno sheets showing 176hp and 180 ft lbs of torque. Then he turned it on and revved it once and everyone in 500 feet went deaf for a few seconds. It's one bad bike and good god with a straight pipe it is quite possibly the loudest bike on this earth, the thing makes a straight piped Harley sound like a 650 with a stock exhaust.
Awesome !
@Daver G You wouldn't be hint that there is some artistic licence creeping in perhaps?
@Daver G We found the guy who owns a Harley, and can't stand the fact that the Yamaha 1900 CC series is more badass.
This is not a bike you want to modify the exhaust on, there's some interesting tech in there, more than just a convoluted pipe
@Daver G bullshit. I saw a Mitsubishi evo with a hood dump and it was so loud the ground shook
Muscle bikes get excellent smiles per gallon !
As a second bike I got a 2008 Stratoliner. Amazing bike and these 113ci engines are reliable! My only issue is the small tank. Better start looking for gas at 100 miles! Oh, and the torque will eat up tires. Ask me how I know!
I own this exact same bike but with Original pipes. Love the ride , great gas mileage, and speed is a given. The only thing is when it's 40 degrees out you roast your legs with the heat of this beast. As a girl it sure gets you looks when you ride it. Plus not many of them out there, people always ask " what kind of bike is it?" The wide back tire is sweet !!!!
On my second Raider, could have gotten a Harley with settlement money, (dude pulled out in front of me in intersection ouch) but I loved my Raider so why get something else! Like you, I get asked all the time it it's a Harley, and I just smile and shake my head "nope". I love it.
I got an 80 evo everyone destroy s me SO WHAT grow up
My 1340cc softail has all the power I'll ever need and guess what I couldn't care less if your faster than me. My bike will easily break any speed limit by 40 mph what more do you need.

@@douglasbaxter3346 Theres a difference between needing something and wanting something to makeup for your own shortcomings.
I actually bought this bike and it's totally awesome. The guys a the shop were great and awesome to deal with
Looks like an awesome bike had a roadstar 1700 now and thinking of getting a 1900 and letting my wife use the 1700
My wife bought a 2011 Raider and still loves it. We took all of the Yamaha badging off except for one of the covers. Most people have no idea what make it is. When you want pass a car with it before a hill, it definitely has the power to get around it in a hurry.
I bought a 2009 Raider 1900 4 months ago. Love it.
Love that subtle whistle sound from the counterbalance shaft gears. Sounds like a hint of supercharger. It's a sort of refined noise the bike 1854cc (113 cu-in) makes, unlike the clatter and rattle of Harleys.
Yeah, that sound brings me back to taking long trips across the country, on the back with my Dad as a kid :D
I have the little brother to this bike, a 2015 Stryker Bullet Cowl. It's only an 80ci, but that's still a 1309cc, which isn't bad. I put Cobra exhaust tips, removed the baffles, and tuned it on a dyno to rid it of the popping from the lack of baffles. I have to be careful when I take off because it will take off fast enough to make me lightheaded! It doesn't have the best top end, but I am so in love with this bike!
I’m a female and have owned 2 Raiders. I love love love this bike!
You are absolutely right, the old Suzi Intruders had a super comfortable seating position for a cruiser, you felt like you ride IN one, instead of ON one. I just wish I liked that radical rake o the tanks. I rode an 86'(I think, it's been a while) Intruder 1400 through the Smokies, and had a ton of fun...until that dry clutch took a dump.
I ride the 1600 Roadstar (Wildstar in Europe), I'm 5'7" and it fits me like a glove. Yamaha cruisers tend to fit anything between midget to flagpole without issues.
2009 Raider and I love it! Better than my 2000 HD Deuce
I have a 2015 raider in black, its lowered 1 1/2” and has cobra pipes. 120mph and still pulling confirmed. :)
I have a 2012 raider the clock goes to 140 but the highway patrol said i was doing 143. Pretty close to the revlimiter
My Stratoliner hit 140 but it shook a little
Does the raider have 5 gears or 6?
Toolmanhenderson: unfortunately it is a 5 speed... or atleast that is what my 2010 Raider has. I'm not sure if a 6 speed was an option in the future or no, but I don't think it was. My bike sounds like it's screaming at interstate speed.
@@XJlover90 It has 5 gears.
I've had many bikes over the years. Much smaller. I'm only 5 foot 6 but bigger guy with short legs... This bike is the most fitting and comfortable bike I have ever owned. I can actually put both feet on the ground and it's not top heavy at all... The power can be a little much at times but wow.... Just hang on tight...
He's right, I'm 6ft2 and I'm always comfy on it. Power out the ass, really nice ride. Did I mention power out the ass?
I just ran across this old video. I too am a fan of the big Yamahas. They do build some awesome engines. The part of the video that struck me the most was when you were commenting on the gas mileage. You get it. Lot's of people use the saving money excuse as part of a discussion to make the purchase. Much fewer are the number that actually think that. You should buy a bike that makes you feel good. I rode everyday and having a bike you like is the most important thing. If you put a lot of miles on a bike then gas mileage might be a legit consideration but I would trade that comfort/enjoyment of the bike any day.
My Raider was brand new, black, "S" model, back in 2011, I think it was. I loved that bike, but I don't have it because it was a lemon. I LOVE Yamaha bikes, but haven't gone back to the Raider. Mine developed multiple oil leaks that dealer after dealer, attempt after attempt could not fix. It was such a bummer. I loved, loved, loved that motorcycle. Since that Raider, I've had two Kawasaki Z1000s and a 2013 Honda Sabre 1300, which I've grow to love. 48 now, been on bikes since I was young, and the Z1000 and Raider take the top 2 favorite spots for me.
Troy Winston mine blew third gear.. such a pos.. only 20k miles.. gonna scrap this fckin pos, im so bummed out.. right at the start of the riding season...pos
I bought the last 2008 raider ... in the state of okla.. had to drive to stillwater ok. From moore okla.. I've put all 43,000 miles on it .. and it has never seen a mech . What a awesome bike . And it eats Harlys for lunch .
I’m a 70 year old Scotsman and I love my awesome Yamaha 1300 custom cruiser ,it’s a great motorbike ,it’s called the Stryker in US, happy trails guys
I owned one as well. Great bike! Moved on to a Raider in 2014, actually this bike is almost exactly like mine, same color /but i had a tail tidy with smaller lights on it and Cobra Speedster pipes on it with their auto fuel tuner. It sounded just like this one.
Notice how he usually always says “i love these bikes.” Thats what it means to be a biker. Loving bikes and appreciating all kinds and loving riding. Its not what youre riding, but where youre going.
the ride matters more then the destination, so id say "how" your going ;-)
Got this bike as my first bike 2008, it’s a beast of a bike! Just have to respect the power until you learn it’s power and the limits of bike on corners. I’m also a bit of a fast learner and test drove my buddies Raider before making the purchase.
Yamaha calls it a 113, had one back in 2010, it was fun for a while. Not the bike you want for longer trips. Overall a solid bike.
I loved my 2008 Raider S and should have kept it in hindsight.
Was disappointed that they never went to a six speed transmission.
"I'm feelin great. I'm doing the speed limit... whatever that is....
This needs to be a tshirt
My dad taught me how to ride on this bike. I remember slightly panicking when I gave it a bit too much throttle. no wheel spin, just bites in and shoots off. I put it down at the end of the road and told my dad to drive come walk and come get it and drive it back into our yard, I think a week or two after I grew the balls to try again. About a year later, I went go get my licence and had to do the test on a 250cc "motorcycle", It felt like a heavier mountain bike. But aye, if i could as a 17 year old, so can you:p
My 09 Raider was my first street bike, I wish I still had it. I love my Breakout but I really miss my Raider
5'2 125lbs, I own and ride 2015 raider. I ride in shorts on my vstars but the leg stretch on the raider is pants only for me but with pants, leg reach is fine. That bike is a dream, rides entirely different than you would expect.
Responding to some comments. So, I’m 5’5 155lbs athletic built. This was my first bike ever. I bought it for 5000$ at 13000 miles. Excellent deal. The guy I bought it from was 6’4. I’m just tall enough to reach the clutch pedal. Been riding now 9 months. Started in a large parking lot. Then moved out to paved country back roads. Then to city neighborhoods. Then to highway. Smaller people can ride these no problem.
I had a 05 V-STAR 1100 bagger . I took a trip with several smaller bikes . I was getting 60 mpg . I did the numbers 3 times to be sure. Mine weighed in 600 LBS .
that sounds lean. mine gets 37-40 when i drive nice
I also dont pay attention to gas mileage, its more about the Smile Per Smiles for me
I've rode Hondas for years and my last bike was a roadstar midnight star 1800 and I loved it! I definitely love Yamaha bikes the best
The road star only ever game with a 1600 or 1700, unless you had a built motor it wasn’t an 1800.
Have an '04 Roadstar 1700 with Baron Vintage fenders, 2-into1 header, dual chamber muffler, Mikuni flat-slide carb, beach bars, floorboards with heel and toe shifter and solo seat and I have the same opinion of it as you do of the Raider. It is extremely comfortable, torquey, easy to handle, sounds and looks great. I have had it on a 1500 mile one-way trip twice now and it cruises at 110 - 120 KPH for hours with no problem and gets reasonable mileage. I have driven Roadkings, Dynas, C90s and 1100 Shadows and wouldn't trade the Yamaha for any of them.
I just purchased a leftover 2014 Galaxy Blue Yam Raider for 9 grand, saving 6G's over this year’s model. A few years ago I did the same thing with the leftover 2012 vfr @ 9 grand, saving 7G's. And also a 3 year old model 2013 ZX1400R, saving 2 grand. Leftovers are the way to go bro.
It sucks that Yamaha stops building all the cruiser line like this bike.
They didn't. The 1900 Motor was so successful that it's in their largest V-Twin flagship models such as the Venture. Same motor, cosmetic updates and some mechanical updates. Just as reliable, fast and fantastic. The way they designed the newer touring models, it's in essence, soul and character, a Raider/Roadliner/Strat. Go test ride one and you'll see exactly what they did! Very clever!
I have had the pleasure of riding on a 1900cc stratoliner. I love them. As you approach you thinking big heavy bike. Then you sit on it and find they're design is spot on. Weight is balanced great. I have a 800cc Vulcan and really I could not feel any difference in wieght
My 1500cc Vulcan is under 300kg. Alot of the Japanese bikes look far heavier than they actually are
Oh man, I have an 08. It's now a 120 CID, ported and polished heads, PC5, Barnett clutch, oil cooler, polished gears. Nasty!
PS the main problem with the Raider is how small the gas tanks are. Yes I said tanks. There's a small tank under the seat and a small tank where you think the gas goes, but most of the upper tank is filled with electronics. So your range on a tankful is so short out on the highway about every 2 hours you're out of gas. That's why I never got one
Hey man, it was good to be able to meet you on Saturday. You were asking for my tag on RUclips so here it is.
If you get a tc electra glide/street glide or a vic cross country I will gladly be back to check it out. That's what I'm in the market for.
Take care of yourself.
+morningstaR x awesome yeah great meeting you and your dad also
The ONLY reason that I sold my 06 Stratty S and picked up an FLHTK was for the wife's comfort. She was a stone-cold beast. (The Stratty, not the wife).
How does the HD power compare to the Yamaha?
@@craigmax3779 Not as powerful. It's also 300+ lbs heavier. The Stratoliner would snap your head back when you twist the throttle. But the lack of a 6th gear did make highway rides less enjoyable. The HD still has enough power. It's not slow by any means and the 6th gear and cruise control at 75 mph can lull you to sleep.
That Yamaha is sooooo like my aHD standard. I could not believe it! I really like it. Awesome, never had Amy thing against other makes either.
Yep I had one
They did everything wright when designing this bike,
Great ride
My Honda VTX 1800R was built in Marysville, OH and is just as much of an American Bike as a Harley. I may have to consider a Raider, since Honda stopped making the 1800.
Yamaha's are great bikes. Some great content on this channel.
Someone needs US Flag pants. Bad ass to a new level. Just like Rex. :)
I just sold my modded 05 roadstar it was my first bike. I loved it and the instant torque. My brother described it as NFL linebacker not tiny but quick on its feet with a lot of power. My current hd ultraclassic is built and there is times I miss my Yamaha. Even the hd guys respected them. They are great bikes.
Always loved the looks of the Raider. Badass ......Badass!!!!!!
I owned 2004 FXD and 2007 FXDL. Loved both. But that Raider is fast. Sounds great too.
2017 Raven addition here....LOVE IT!
I love my 2012 Raider S. I've seen her hit 120. Beat the HD off the line and to the next light.
didn't they stop production of them in 2017? In what country did you get a 2021 model, US?
I recently started watching your videos and I love it because I'm a big motorcycle person I live in Biloxi Mississippi and my cousin's actually owns Suzuki City I drive a 800cc Suzuki Boulevard C50T I love it so much I don't even own a car it's just so freeing to have a motorcycle
this is a much better bike than a Harley Davidson and will last a lot longer
Brian tel You could say the same about every motorcycle ever built!
@Missouri Mule hahahah whats to be jealous of? harleys are over priced and really this soul shit is for people who cant ride fast and are happy to be in debt....plus have certain mental health issues Id say
@@mottthehoople693 just because you can afford one doesnt mean they're bad motorcycles. Harleys have their place, they're awesome bikes.
@@mottthehoople693 Prove that you’ve ever owned a Harley and then your “opinion” will be valid. Otherwise, you’re just flapping your poor Harley-envying gums in the wind.
My first bike was a 1967 Bridgestone 175.
2nd bike 500 Yamaha.
3rd bike 1983 Honda Shadow 750.
4th and current 2003 HD Softail Standard.
Black and Chrome 😎
I have a 2009 raider... Vance and Hines pipes custom seat, mirrors, tail light, bigger tire, back rest, switchblade pegs...wanted to sell it for 5500 bucks when I lost my job 3 years back. Glad I didn't advertise too hard. Haven't rode it in 2 and a half years now,but I got the hankering to ride again. I miss riding so bad. I'll tag and insure it this spring... Glad I didn't take any low ball request. Matter of fact I said 5500 is low as I'll go... 5000 no way I'll let it sit in my garage before I do that... Mine is raven color...
I'm a tall guy too. 6"5. I currently ride a 2008 victory kingpin. It's honestly a good fit.
Bro, when you pull up behind a big truck make sure that you can see the drivers face in his side mirror. If you can’t see him he can’t see you. Ride safe.
I have the Raiders older sibling. A 2006 Yamaha Road Star Warrior 1700cc. The midnight edition. Fantastic indestructible bike with gobs of torque.
I bought the 08 N 08 The very first S , Candy Apple That I saw . I still have it and I just Love it and will never sell it ! When I got it ,It was All very cool to me because I had't Road N 20 years literly ! I have owned a few other bikes N the past But this by far is My Fav Big Motor Bike only one I have now ! Get U one folks and U be the judge
rode on this weekend after getting of my 2008 Yamaha Venture. It was a rough ride, wind was howling and I could barely ride for 10 minutes without feeling worn out. This after riding at 85mph for 60 miles to get to the dealership!
what sucks here in quebec canada is that if you want aftermaket pipes says on your bike the yamaha 1900 or any other bikes the police will have a new gadget and if they think your bikes do to much noise there gonna use this new gadget for testing how much noise your pipes are doing if your above 100 decibel your gonna get a ticket around 300 dollards quebec sucks if your a motocyclist your lucky to live in the U.S.A
more government always a good thing. just ask a liberal
California is stupid strict. Most exhausts & air cleaners arent available for sale here ( metrics) Because of the stupid C.A.R.B rules... but yet everything available for harley :/
Shadwox they have them here in the US as well.. It's just hardly enforced. Most of the time they just pop you for ". Modified exhaust / equip with inadequate muffler.
In the UK it's only 80db limit :(
The law has changed. The law now states that the bike must have the original mufflers. The fine has been increased too.
Most of my MC looks down on yammer hammers and other metrics but most of them will also say ther will also out perform HD from every angle and much more dependable, my first bike was a 69cb160 and 2nd was a 69cb350 and on to the cb750 × 4 and I couldn't tear them up, this was ofcourse in the 70's, bottom line is as a old school biker I won't buy nothing but HD now days
I know this is an older video but need to correct something you said.......Yamaha does NOT build any bikes in the USA......Honda did for several years but left the USA quite some time ago....the Raider was designed in California as were the Liner series but ultimately they are built in Japan....I've never seen a white Raider before and I like it....there is an SCL model which has an orange paint scheme.....
I have a 2010 raider that traded my ‘12 wide glide for 6 years ago and I’ve never regretted it!
I loved mine....lost job and had to sell it. I cry every night
My cousin has this bike. We both agreed my Dyna handles much better and brakes better. My bike is a lot faster too but it has a stage 4 with 115 RWHP. Stock it would be slower. Yamaha only has 100 HP and that’s at the engine. Both bikes have been very reliable.
He was going to talk and decided to ride instead😂
Why does he scream over the engine/exhaust every time he opens it up ?
@@0117ization acceleration-induced adrenaline, something harley owners wouldnt be able to experience, understandably.
I’m only 5’8” and my Raider fits me like a glove I absolutely love it
I drive Harley the last 20 Years. I think, Time to change. Now i sold it and i drive a Yamaha MT01.
The MT 01 is a proper beast
These bikes are an absolute blast to ride. I bought a new 2014, but I should have gone used, as they can be found relatively cheap. Yamaha stopped making them. Too bad! I ain't selling mine, it's roll-on power at highway speed is awesome for a V-twin.
And, it's comfortable to ride. I put a bat wing fairing on mine, I'm going to add a sissy bar and luggage rack, and put some bags on it.
The 1st rule when choosing any bike is, can I pick it up if necessary. I've had to pick up bikes for girls several times when they've slipped over parking etc. Stuff happens & it's a sensible rule considering.
I currently own a Raider here in the uk, its a real head turner and amazing to ride!!!!
I have a 2002 Roadstar w a 1600 cc motor in it. One of the prior owners bored and cam'd it. It's incredibly fast for a V-Twin but it does get unbearable in city riding when the temps hit the upper 80's. It's like riding on top of a volcano...
Shaun you said its a 2000 Yamaha Raider? Yamaha made the Raider from 2008-present. I know I just got my new 2012 Yamaha Raider S Raven Black with 1 mile on it. I have a list of things to do on it. The first is Freedom Performance Sharp Curve Radius, then intergraded tail light, and license plate relocate. Great bike, looks great, low stance, (as I'm 5'8" it fits me good with the low seat), huge motor, (113ci/1854cc/90hp), sounds good enough with stock pipes, and sounds AWSOME with aftermarket pipes.
+Ross Malagarie sorry it’s a 2013
No prob thanks for the content.
Nice score on a new 2012 Raider.enjoy it ,ride safe .should get b-tween 40-43 mpg.i know I scored a new 2014 in Sept of 2017 0 miles.
I had a 2013 exactly like that but my Cobra pipes were the straight ones, loved the bike till a guy pulled out in front of me and murdered it and almost me too. RIP
I'm a short guy and I love it, lol
How tall? Im only 5'3 and some people say not to get one if your 5'5
Thank you for always sharing a psalm from the good book
I’m always disappointed by the way Japanese twins sound. Even my Vmax was kinda industrial sounding before I modified it. That being said, a 1000cc Japanese straight 4 with a pipe is literally the best sound in the hobby. That ALSO being said, the panagale v4 sound freaking insane!
Curtis Lenox v4s sound amazing
James Palmer now that I have some sound coming out of my mufflers, my vmax sounds downright evil
I think you should get another, " that being said." into your review
Hobby?
I own a 09 raider with Vance an Hines pipes an i love driving it but I also have a programmer for the fuel mileage it's mean an stupid loud be safe and wear your gear
I bought the 2008 . And its my first bike . Ive put 38,000 miles on it . Never seen a mech.. i probley dont get the 42 miles per gal. Cus i cant stay off the throttle . Love my Raider .. its a Harly eater for sure .
christopher smith ride it 700 miles, in one day, then talk
I'm 5'3 I got a cbr 600f with lowering links as a first bike, I think a 650 twin is a good first bike or of my size smaller bike, at end of day it's not about the Bike it's about the ride
I'm 5'3" and own a 2013 Raider just like in the video. It sits low enough for me to handle. So if I can so can you. It is a Bad Mo.Fo.! Pulls hard.
The frame & tank configuration is derived from their Virago. NOT SUZUKIS!
Not a 2000, they didn't make them back then, about 38-44 mpg, Yes, I think my Stratoliner 1900s was made/assembled in USA, I'm just under 5'4", and not much issue with my Strat, which sits higher than the Raider.. Yes, I wanted something bigger displacement than what Harley was offering let alone a better engineered motorcycled.. I will always tell a Harley owner (that has an attitude) the reason I chose it.
I have a Road Star Silverado that is the best bike I've ever ridden. I would only consider getting rid of it for a Warrior or Stratoliner.
Had a 2002 V-Star 1100 and a 2003 Road Star 1600 Silver Edition. Both were great bikes. The Road Star even garnered respect from Harley riders for its copying the stylization of a Softail. It was sad to hear that Star Motorcycle (Yamaha’s division focused on cruisers) was closing its doors. They had a good niche for many years, but were really a poor man’s Harley and most owners moved up once they could afford to; me and many local riders included. Still wish I’d kept the Road Star as it’s styling was timeless and she was an amazing ride.
My Raider is twice the bike at half the money compared to a HD........I love it....!!!
I have a 2011 heritage with a 120R and considering purchasing one of these next glad to see if i get it, it will be similar power between the two
9:52 thats what he said
Definitely the next bike I think I’m gonna be getting. Some customization it’ll be good to go. I got admit though, those stock tailpipes look horrible. I don’t know what they were thinking when they put those on there.
I've seen a girl that rode to school on a 1986 Yamaha V-MAX . This was in 1985 so it was brand new, and she was even burning the back tire off of it. But I still haven't seen a girl on a Yamaha Raider yet.
There's some women in Japan that ride them and make videos.
dude! I want one. now that is a man's bike! I stand 6ft9, I like these huge bikes. I once was considering buying one of these, a Kawasaki 2000cc, or a goldwing. I ended up going with the goldwing.
Ewe a goldwing
I have a 2014 Raider. All v-twins will get you to highway speed with little or no issue. But, when you twist the throttle on this bike at 60 mph, it responds with instant torque and boogie. The riding position is very comfortable for my 6 foot 180 lb. frame. The vibration is just enough, the miles per gallon around 45-50. I'm going to fabricate a luggage rack that I'll attach a couple of good sized saddlebags, and take this bike all over the f*ckin' place. I put a batwing fairing on mine. Very roadworthy!
you got pics with your batwing? I'm trying decide what it will look like on mine... I've added viking bags (black large) I want a fairing to block some wind so I can hear my tunes (earbuds)! Did you put speakers in your fairing?
these video is why I bought my 2014 raider s love your videos keep up the. good word brother
What I hate is cruising along on a 2 lane road on my beautiful 2009 Raider S and the vehicle coming toward me who driver is texting drifts over into my lane at the last second and causes me to go off the road and into a chain link fence.
Rebel with a cause your defensive driving skills need a up grade or you’ll be a victim forever 👹 melting ❄️ .
I like all bikes. I ride a Harley, but I will probably buy a Raider. They're just a cool bike. I plan to own as many bikes as I can.
