Yamaha Raider is a beast of a bike. I have one of the first ones made. Bought it in December of '07. I have just over 101k miles on it and very few problems. Had to replace the fuel pump housing about 5 or 6 years ago. Other than that, no real problems other than wear and tear (fork seals, etc.)
My 2009 Raider bought new in 2012 has averaged 42.4mpg over 33,641 miles as of last week. For a period of time when I could get non-ethanol premium, I was in the 44-45 mpg range. It's an awesome bike.

My first bike was a Yamaha virago 750. My last bike Yamaha virago 1100. I haven’t been on a bike in far too long. I’ve been looking at getting something again and getting back in the saddle. It’s interesting how the bike that caught my attention out of everything I could get is the Yamaha raider. Of course I get this, it’s gonna have to be completely customized and rebuilt from the ground up. Might as well get what I want.
I have an 08 Raider it’s a great bike my daily rider! Yes, My car is a 1.2 L Chevy Spark now my bike engine is quite larger than my car engine. These Raiders are really reliable. They crank slow because the starter is geared low so the battery can turn over this beast. Yes, they are fast you get into top gear fast and the ride is firm. I have had numerous bikes this is my favorite!

A guy was trying to rebuild it for me as a tribute bike cause I lost my son and the guy died in an accident before he could finish it. I don't know how to fix bikes but I'll never sell it cause it means so much. You guys are really lucky and I enjoy the videos. Keep it up
Remember back when they used an 80ci(actually 1340cc) to power VW Beetle, and better than the car engine it came with.........imagine this engine powering a Bug I've considered putting floorboard on my Dyna Yamaha not only uses the same engine, but in the Stryker and the others that use the Stryker 1300cc engine the used the same piston.... they're just a shorter stroke
Thanks for the video and words of wisdom. I like it, but not the angular mirrors. If everything else on the bike is rounded or sweeping curves the mirrors should be too. So a friend of mine has a Shelby GT Mustang and always wanted to race my modest 750. I said you would win. But I could beat him with this right? I want three things on my next upgrade. I like Harley's but don't want an ocean liner type bike. 1.) I want a basic cruiser with lots of power. 2.) I want pegs that don't drag if I take a corner with hard bank. 3.) I want gear indicators on the gauge. Does this have that?
The pegs are ok but the first thing I did was throw a pair of Kuryakyn Swing Wing foot pegs on them great for multiple riding positions for your legs/feet.

The place where your vehicles are such low tech they can't meet our emission standards and huge junks of your vehicle industry is now owned by European companies in order to gain the technology that we have, and most of your motorbikes come from overseas. So that for example, you too can have trucks that are as economical low in emisions and as powerful and heavy as ours. (Whatever happened to Cummins?) . . :-)
@Mallard Well, at 62, everything I have will probably outlast me, none of the men in my family made it much past my age. Even my 8.2 Detroit in the dump truck, slowest truck in the county, but it hauls a load every day. Old school bus motor I put in it about 15 yrs ago.
Actually, it's highly unlikely it's larger than your car engine. Very few cars have an engine smaller than a 2.0l. There are some but not many.
My Ford Escape comes with a 1.5L engine, but it has a turbo. Plenty of power.
I need that bike! Love it
why are they not called "Engine Cycles"? ;)
I hear ya. A motor usually has windings. It's electric. They call several things motors. I know at the bottom of a oil field drill string there's a device that's called a mud motor.
They knew in the future everything would be Electric
Actually "motor" as a word is much older than the electric motor the invention. Just means something that moves or "motes."
Yup. thanks. ;)
@@herbwag6456 thanks for waking me up. I've been hung up on what an Electrician friend said to me once but since you said it that way I could almost pinch myself. Moto, motivate, motivation. Simply to move. Thanks!
Love the stratoliner
If you drop that bike then how hard would it be to pick up?
Is this bike fuel injected?
its funy i see so many of these bikes here in iowa n missouri that couldnt sell new n now your luck if ya can find them used for cheap when they couldnt give them away new
Well my Civic is a 2.0L so I got that .1L on you. However, my 2300cc Rocket III touring on the other hand...... Makes more torque than my Civic too LOL.
The Rocket is a bad machine rode one it is a torque monster!
And Triumph now do a 2.5 litre rocket. I have seen some people super charge the older 2.3 litre Rocket to insane levels of bhp and torque...
@@edwinkubena9944 more torque (talk) than Jay Leno ?

Z I ride a 2014 Yamaha scl Raider great bike.
KAWASAKI V2K 125CI 2053CC 116H/P 141T At the crank. Both great bikes .
Bike is just awesome ,,,,,I believe I hVe one of the nicest ones around 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Everybody is complaining that it only has a five speed. A good tourquey V-Twin only needs a four speed. I thought Harley was crazy when they put a five speed on there Evo. I really seen no need for a six speed. Nothing sounds better than a four speed shovel. SWEET!!!!!!!!!!
It's always nice to have that overdrive gear when you're out on the big road
