      @@jaredconyers Thanks for the video. How is it going from Steam Deck to laptop - can you have the Steam Deck version set up for controller but laptop set up for mouse and keyboard or does Blizz host some of your settings server-side and it get a little funky? Same with using controller on the Steam Deck handheld but mouse and keyboard when it is docked?

    • @jaredconyers
      @jaredconyers  3 месяца назад

      @@chrisp2588 I haven't had any issues going from steam dock to laptop to PC. The in game edit mode is a Godsend, I have a different layout I can switch to for each machine. As for keybindings, once you have your bindings in place, just use the console port settings to map each spell to an appropriate button. Then you'll have your set up for controller, but it "should" still keep everything in place when you go back to keyboard.

    I'm working on setting up my console port keybinds and I'm almost there, just gotta build muscle memory! Might have been easier with a new character than with my 62 (even though it's a ret pally which I have learned is still faceroll easy!).

      So the first time I tried using console port, I created an entirely new character to get a feel for things. And yes, the set up process can take a while. But now I feel comfortable enough with it that I can use it with any character and feel comfortable with a rotation in a few minutes.
      Regarding settings, since I got such great performance numbers with the default settings, I honestly didn't even mess with anything, was just able to jump straight in and play.

      It took me about a month to get used to the gamepad only controls. It's supported natively in game since 9.1. Ive been playing WoW on Steamdeck since 9.2-ish right after the Deck came out. I'm curious how many hotkey's you use with the add on. Looks like a very simplified setup. It's run at a silky smooth 60fps lock (aside from cities) ever since. The only issues I've ever run into are the bombing run style missions and raid healing. I end up using the touch screen alot for the secondary. Simpler classes like melee are so chill to play on the Deck.

      @@rubencamps6689 Yeah, I don't disagree. Installing itself is easy if you're used to utilizing addons (which I think most WoW players are). • @Stoian1992
    @Stoian1992 3 месяца назад

    I would like to ask as a Wow player whos strickly wants to continue playing the game but want to switch to a handheld PC (Asus rog ally X) and not sitting in front of my desktop PC. Do you find ranged classes hard to play? I would like to continue with my MM hunter if possible but if I have to I can always turn to my ret paladin. My second question is what are the essentials addons that should be used to setup your controls ? Do the game have integrated controller settings or that comes with an addon? Do you also have some trips and tricks (or sort of) when trying to adjust to using a controller while playing the game? I've heard a lot of players start fresh from lvl 1 to get use to the different setups and not be overwhelmed having to bind all spells that a max lvl char has. Sorry for the long comment and thanks =)

    • @jaredconyers
      @jaredconyers  3 месяца назад +2

      So first off, I don't think playing a ranged class would be too difficult, it's really just about setting your key bindings in an effective way where you can run through your rotation without issues. I played my Destro Warlock during Dragonflight numerous times with my Steam Deck, quested, ran dungeons, all with no issues.
      As for the addon, I use ConsolePort for the controller support. Installing is straight forward (just like adding any other addon), setting your key bindings can be tedious, but once again, it's just about finding what works best for you. Outside of this, any other addons you want to use is just personal preference.
      And unfortunatley, I don't have any "tips" to get comfortable with the controller. It's more about just "doing it". I did start my Guarding Druid from lvl 1, and leveled him up EXCLUSIVELY via my handhelds, but that was more to get used to tanking on a controller, and getting some sort of rotation down. But all of my other characters, I just jump in and get the hang of it.

      All you have to do is map a button keybind for "target nearest friendly player" and when you hit it, it's just like tab targeting mobs but for party and raid members.
      Works great in M+, especially with action targeting because you just look at who you want to heal, hit your keybind, and have them targeted. Have to tab through a few times to get who you want in raids, though, but it is still more than doable.

      You can map button combos together, too, like LT+B, LT+X, LB+A, LB+ Dpad down, and the push in joystick buttons, etc. You can get well over 30 keybind combinations and still have some leftovers to have the start button toggling the map, select button being a flying mount, or however you want it set up. Thank you! Unfortunately not on twitch or IG (yet), but I have been wanting to start getting into that more as well, so hopefully in the near future.

      oh not to comment spam you, but can you do a video no how you get everything setup? also curious how you handle mounting and doing more "in town" things like profs, auctions etc

      @@MaxAnderson-m7u I've done a few videos on different set up methods.
      ruclips.net/video/M3_TaZNFYXw/видео.html - This will be the easiest method to get Battlenet/WoW installed, and I show how to get consoleport installed also (but don't really go much into that).
      ruclips.net/video/jnM7iJ81qTU/видео.html - This is another way. In this video (around the 8 minute mark) I do a small overview of consoleport, and show some basics of getting keybindings set up.
      It's really just a matter of getting your bindings set up in a way you like, then that can make it easy not just for attacking, but also mounting, opening your bags, doing professions, and things like that.
