Those dashed lines on the bottom of the display are the digital substitute for the spinning meter wheel. I learned something that I never would have figured out. Thanks!
If your home also generates power via solar voltaics, how would this be demonstrated on the meter? Someone told me there would be a + sign for surplus generated or a - sign for consumption over production... there is no plus nor minus sign, so how can we tell? Thanks
Your meter would count "backwards" Let's say you see that your meter shows 900 KW total, but then later on during the day, you see it shows 875 KW/Hr. How/Why did it go backwards? Because your solar panels are compensating some of the electricity you've consumed.
If you have a grid tie and inverter and solar panels&batteries, can you send back electricity to the power grid if you have a standard smart meter that everyone else has, or does it have to be a specific kind of smart meter?
Possibly, but by sending the information by wire requires much less energy then wireless smart meter systems so even if they were poluting the power lines it will not radiate nearly as far. The wireless ones are such a huge privacy violation and security threat as well since the signals can be intercepted and hacked into in spite of power company claims.
I need a dum meter for dum people just list the cost per day average mfers, why would the power company want you to read the meter ..that would effect their profits

Thanks now I get the basics

You're not telling the whole story. To say that you are misleading the public is a major understatement.
How can I cheat my smart meter?
Why are all the honey bees in Idaho dying?
