i can't even express how helpful asbplayer has gotten for me, previously I was using animelon for learning japanese, it went well till the website started to lag unbearably bad, now that I use asbplayer, I can pretty much sentence mine ANYTHING i want, tysm for showcasing asbplayer!
I came here to find tools for my Japanese journey and ended up finding not only that, but also the perfect jumping board to get me from intermediate to advanced in German. I'm at that stage where I can undertsand enough to know what is going on all the time, but never exactly sure of everything that is being said, while looking up everything is really bothersome and unpractical, to the point it becomes unapealing. This way I'm sure that my progress will explode forward.
ok this is, especially the subtitle centric navigation, super useful it seems. navigation being based on timestamp is a real pain for a sort of involved language learning analysis, and so making navigation directly attached to subs looks like it will provide the control and functionality needed, nice 😊
Hey Guys! Appreciate the video and appreciate the help! Though I keep running into a problem for some reason. The Anki connect URL always shows up as failed to fetch. And an error can be seen in the extensions page stating this document requires "TrustedHtml" assignment. Not a developer so not able to understand what this means. If you have the time, any help is appreciated
Hi! I installed it as you explain in your old video, and it looks fine, but Ctrl+Shift+F doesn't work for me. I can't get the subtitles from any YT video. The extension is installed but I can' t do anything. I tried it in Brave and in Chrome but there's no subtitles. I'm really frustrated. I appreciate any help. Thank you.
When you do Ctrl+Shift+F, does *anything* show up? If you're not seeing the box pop-up, it's possible that the shortcut is different on your system. Click the ASBplayer box in the top of the browser (you may need to open your extensions list), click Keyboard Shortcuts and scroll down a bit till you see "Select subtitle tracks to load." And the other important question: do the videos you're trying it with have subtitles on their own? If there aren't any subtitles on the RUclips video, they won't show up. You can try on one of my videos since they all have subtitles. You can also provide your own subtitles, but making them is a bit of a process. I do have a video about it though: ruclips.net/video/okfw4qXtDVM/видео.html Hope this helps, - Ben
@@RefoldHi! Thank you very much. It seems like "Select subtitle tracks to load" was "overriden". I set a different shortcut and it worked. I made a couple of cards but then, instead of pressing arrow left (or right) to move to the next sub I pressed Ctrl+arrow (because I am used to this for another program) and I messsed up the subtitles. I restarted the PC and seem to work. The problem is: when I press Ctrl+Shift+X to mine, the audio doesn't stop at the right moment, it carries to the next line for a split second and the audio in Anki is recorded wrong. Like it skips. While in playback, it stops at the right moment (I have auto pause on) but when mining it doesn´t. What could it be? Update: I've just remove all and started from scratch but it keeps on grabbing the audio wrong. Thank you man.
Hi, thanks for the video. I have a problem. When I press Ctrl+Shift+F, in the pop-up box, I see this error: "Failed to execute 'parseFromString' on 'DOMParser': This document requires 'TrustedHTML' assignment." If you know how to fix this, please help me.
This is a recent (I think it came up today) error with RUclips. It's affecting ASBplayer and Language Reactor and probably other things. RUclips changed something. It should be fixed fairly soon.
Love using asbplayer, but can't figure out how to make it run .mkv files - don'y have any sound at all. I know that to do that, you need to have experimental web platform features enabled, but which of them exactly? I am on Brave browser, and there are hundreds of them...
Are there subtitles for the other language? ASBplayer is only detecting sub tracks that already exist. If you need to find your own subs, I recommend using WhisperX
It doesn't work for most platforms, doesn't connect to other tools very well and a few more things. But if you just want to immerse on RUclips and Netflix, Language Reactor is a fantastic option! In fact, it's our default recommendation for people who want simplicity. But in general, more options is always better! It encourages platforms to improve and innovate. - Ben
Can someone help me? The ctrt+shift+f window pops up and I can select the subtitles but once I press 'ok' nothing happens. No extra window will pop up to download the subtitles :(
Any idea what the app that can auto-generate subtitles is called? I"m learning Kartuli (Georgian), and there are next to no learning resources and zero native shows with native subtitles available. Since day 1, I've been stuck watching native shows with no aid but SLOWLY increasing comprehension regardless. Im at a point now where i feel i would catch most mistakes from auto-generation but it would be enough help me comprehend so much more. I read about something that can do it a few days back but cannot remember where now. Any help would be appreciated!
Whisper! Here's my video on it: ruclips.net/video/okfw4qXtDVM/видео.html But I don't have any idea how accurate it is with Georgian. Hopefully it helps a bit 😅 - Ben
I'm JUST about to record a video on that. But, not really. You can use LingoPie, but it's a paid service. Or you can get Kiwibrowser and install the Language Reactor extension. But it's pretty annoying to use on a tiny phone. The best option, in my opinion, is to download the subtitles and read them ahead of time, looking up unknown words. Then watching whatever it is normally. Perhaps reviewing words you looked up.
What didn't work? Did the interface show up? Did it not load subtitles? Netflix is a totally supported site, and I've used it before. Does it work on other sites?

Where can I find the outro song? It was hilarious 😂
It's not actually a full song! We made it with www.suno.ai/. It's free to mess around with and a TON of fun.

Does it work with Chinese streaming video services like Tencent Video, YouKu, etc.?
Hi! anyone here know why my control+shift+F does not work for me? just downloaded. Thank you!
If you haven't figured it out yet, try control+shift+X (control+shift+F didn't work for me either.)

where can I get subtitle for dubbed cartoons in russian?

Are they hidden? Or maybe they're empty? It's hard to tell what the issue might be without more information.

what platforms does it work on with this one?, Language reactor only helps with Netflix and RUclips
This works with all of them. That's what makes it great. Any website that has a video player should work perfectly.

@@chakrikid1038 That's strange... I don't really have a solution. Netflix frequently changes their UI to try and mess with tools like this.
@@Refold it works with prime. Btw what is mining in this app..? Are you using it for mining virtual money similar to Bitcoins....?
Is it only for Chrome? I think everybody is looking for a similar extension for Firefox... 🤣
Yes 😭😭 I use Firefox for everything except language learning because of this. It's very annoying.
İn russian ?? Can use ?
Yep! Works great for Russian
ASBplayer didnt work with Crunchy Roll for me. Anyone else get it to work with Crunch Roll?
Did you provide it with subtitles? It doesn't look like it does anything unless you hover and drop subtitles over the video player.
- Ben
@@Refold crunch roll has soft subtitles.
