Andrew's commentary was THE best!! He did a great job and this video rocked! I also liked watching Mrs. Fisherman's Life taste test on here! We need to see more of her please!
Andrew is the guy that everyone wants to have around at a hangout
100%
Stereotype you guys are
@@bankmaster5104 ???? what u talking about lmao
Yea he sounds like a funny guy
I love how he always tries to keep the videos fresh with creative editing, good work man.
Plz continue to do more catch and cooks brother plz. I think I speak for everyone when I say I miss them like crazy.
Good to see you back here in San Diego Matt...&, good to see Andrew back onboard with you--I see he's getting a lot of positive comments on here, with which I agree (I used to work with him in the ER, he's a great guy)...personally, I think that's a long way to travel while towing a boat to target blue fin tuna...you'd be better off flying down here & then take a 2-3 night charter boat trip (one which is going to specifically target Bluefin Tuna)...the Captains & Crews of the best charter boats around here (&, there are quite a few) have it totally dialed in, & they will put you on big tuna, if they're anywhere out there...plus, their fish storage & then the on-shore processing available is second to none...so, if you're lucky enough to score a big bluefin, & you choose to pay to have it stored & processed properly, you will receive the highest quality fish possible...I know it takes a bit of the personal adventure out of it all--however, if you want a realistic chance at scoring a 100 or 200 pounder, there's really no other way...of course, I have seen the RUclips videos of local guys going out on their private boats & occasionally landing big fish...however, the ones doing that are really the best-of-the-best local guys, with years of experience & in-depth knowledge of the waters fished out of San Diego, & they've got things totally dialed-in--&, even then, they mostly come back with very limited loads
I agree with the private boats with an experienced local, kinda like what Outdoor Chef Life or Landshark Outdoors does. Probably a good in between experience from a charter and a private boat, he can get the private filming experience while having a good chance at fish.
Couldn’t have said it better. I would recommend The New Lo-An.
The sheepshead fish you got, looking very similar to the tautog or blackfish we get here, on east coast. Tautog is the best tasting fish here on east coast, its diet consist of crabs and muscles, so meat is white, and not fishy at all. Very expensive if you want to buy it, like 30$ per lb or so.
Its nice to be back in this channel..its very natural and real
I missed so much Andrew! He is so cool! Nice to see him back Matt!
You need to dredge the meat in cornstarch, before the egg wash, and then the crumbs.
That's the order.
We all remember the good days of fishing, and I’m sure we all remember the skunk days.
Been there, done that. It’s ok to come home with nothing, tomorrow is another day.
On those skunk days, I’ve stop by a fish market and picked up the ingredients I needed to make a Cioppino, for dinner. Whole Foods has a ready made Cioppino base sauce, whereby you just add your seafood mix. For a quick meal, it’s not bad at all. A good sea food stew and some crusted bread always did me right on those skunk days. Words for thought 🤔💭
You're the reason I'm destroying the fluke in NY while others aren't catching anything. Kitech!!!!!
Nice video Matts, and great to see some good friends have Fun fishing. Thanks for taking us along and kudos to the wife 😍🎣👍
I love this video. Reminds me of your older videos. Makes me glad to know you’re staying true to your roots and not letting your RUclips fame change you!
Sheepshead is sooo good as ceviche. The acidity of citrus compliments the sweetness of the wrasse well.
Awesome trip worth the travel for the experience. Also love the joint catch and cook taste reviews, need more of those! Great vid as always
Thanks for this! Grew up in San Diego. Caught a sheepshead on first trip to the kelp. Good memories!
I felt more connected to the last couple of videos because fishing is not always a success. The adventure of going out to new places and learning is more insightful. Good job Matt. Looking forward to seeing you at the block party soon.
Tom, i got the message about winning also. I think it is phishing and not fishing.
@@JimmyDistheMan thanks for the heads up. I didn't click on it cause I remember Matt saying that he was only going to give away about 4 of them and this text reply went to at least 6 others. Also the number is an NY area code and not SF.
Just inspiring to see all of the possibilities for modifications on a new kayak. Just picked up a new Hobie Mirage Outback the other week and I'm watching the video to find out how I can customize my ride to improve my time on the water. Thanks for the great content as always!
Road trips are always fun anyway you put it. Glad you guys got to go and sharing the adventures
One of the most amazing things I have ever seen in nature is watching a Tautog (a cousin of the Sheepshead) attack a Blue Claw crab. The fish rams the crab from about four feet away and cracks it against a rock. It does this over and over again. I've spent a lot of time spearfishing around the jetties in New Jersey and my favorite was a T jetty with lots of huge loose boulders at the end. I could swim around them and hide. One day I saw the Tog bashing the crab. The most amazing thing about that was the Tog would propel himself backwards with a wiggle motion before he rammed it and he was very efficient at going backwards. He always faced the crab and got going pretty fast from four feet away with a couple of pumps of that big tail. I'd heard the sound of sound of the crabs being cracked many times before but I only got to see it happen that one time. These fish are amazing with the power that they have to slam into the crabs without getting shaken up. Kind of like the woodpeckers I suppose. Somebody should set up a camera pointed wide angle towards a crab secured at the base of a rock and film this. I don't live at the beach anymore otherwise I'd give it a go. There are whole communities of Tautogs (also called Blackfish) that live among the largest rock structures.
That’s dedication. That fuel cost must have been something driving 1000 miles hauling a boat
Lmao especially hitting nothing but big cities gas prices.
Hybrid can tow that?!
being on water with friends you enjoy fishing with is awesome. you will catch Tuna next time. safe fishing
20:36 I’m dead 😂
LOL, she was like “ummm….” 😂
Great video man. Thanks for sharing
So thought I was on Fisherman's Life youtube channel... just to see at the end it is The Fisherman's wife channel. Nice to see family in videos now and then. Nice video Matts-
You guys are all awesome!
A for effort!You work hard!Thank you!
awesome video, I specially enjoy the comradery vibe you feel with real friendship. Love the videos you make with Andrew and Daniel. 👍
I'm heading down on the 21st for a tuna trip. Bluefin numbers are up and down, mostly down but yellowfin and yellowtail numbers are up. A few dodo too.
Night fishing for Bluefin with flatfalls and pencil/roller gigs were working good there for awhile.
Fun fact. Sheepshead start out female and when they change color they turn male.
A 22-24 inch calico bass is about 30 years old. Best to release.
I like your Arima, I have one too that I fish up in the Delta.
Welcome!!! There out there!
Awesome videos man!!! Keep up the great work and the great content. Keep pursuing what you love it’s really inspiring. You’ve inspired me (a 13 year old) and I know you’ve inspired so many other people too!!! Keep it up!!!!
u got the right crew witchu love yo videos i watch u everday bro Salute keep catching n cooking
Love your videos been a subscriber for years!!!
Loved fishing the channel islands, always had a good day and trip. Smoked sheepshead is worth a try too,it's how we liked it best.
You two are the greatest tag team on the planet.
Ispenta14 hour Coronado trip on a prime lunar day chasing Tuna and Yellowtail. Paddy hopping and relocating; nothing worked. We did see 3 huge Mola Molas rollingin the sun wqhich was fun. Fishing can be tough. Really enjoyed the video.
Great fishing adventure and discovering new place to find good catch. I love it and he can be my mentor on fishing.
The abrupt endings to Matts videos always crack me up!
Great editing. Just love all the angles and work you put into every episode. Cheers
Awesome catch yet again ocean fishing looks fun
Fantastic. Love your work 🎣👌
Happy 4 years watching!
Dont gotta catch tons of fish to have an awesome time with your buds. Great videos as always!! West coast Sheeps look really fun to catch!
This is the first time in a long time I feel like you've fished down near my neck of the woods. I find decent fishing just north of the channel but you have to be careful about the currents that turn into bigger swells, and since I'm on a jetski you really have to look out for the kelp patch.
They were biting the mad max pretty good almost 2 week ago here. Died out though. Love your dedication, hard-core driving down here from sf!
My city looks amazing on this channel! Nice Video brotha!
Awsome. Trip look epic. Always fun fishing with friends. Need to go north and fish with you soon
Now you're in my next of the woods again. The 9 can be kind of tricky at times but luckily I've made it happen with the right kind. Sheepshead is great for ceviche. Yeww 🤙🏻
The toughest part of bluefin fishing is finding them. The second toughest is getting the bite. 2022 has been the year of the madmac troll on the spreader bar. Popping foamers works well every year too. Key is getting on the fish = research. Sometimes you just can't find them or they aren't biting your offer.
Love your videos man! Kayak fishing is my favorite
I've been on that Gentlemen's boat , where he was purchasing the bait for the channel islands , great area! glad to see him in my neck of the woods!
That’s crazy man! Can’t believe you were out here I’m here from Oxnard and once you said Channel Islands I was like that’s right here!! That’s cool! Love the Channel Islands!
You can get some good fish around Anacapa island
The trio we all wanted!
I love the catch and cooks!
love the editing on that opening montage! v slick
It’s totally worth the time with your wife, that was so wholesome
Thanks for posting another cool video.
Awesome vibes brother. You guys look like you are having a bomb time
Nice to see you in my neck of the woods,
"Some people like it soft"

Good vid, relaxing.
Looks great!
Love your videos bro! Hope one day we can go fishing with each other!have a bless one!
Nice. Heading there Thursday! Been three times this season and got 1 WSB out of two hookups! See you in august!
Happy to see you are using Kerigold now 👍
Bro! You need to come by LA and fish Catalina for some yellowtail. Awesome video as usual.
Drive from San Fran to Spokane Washington and fished the way down Oregon, Washington, & Northern California. Caught a small trout but it was fun. Love driving and fishing deadass, shout-out Cali gang
Video idea: Campout on the Channel Islands and do some catch and cooks. They have some great spear fishing spots around the islands too. I used to do it back in the day all the time. There use to be a bunch of red foxes on the Islands as well, so watch your food lol. Haven't been there in awhile though.
Wow you were in Southern CA?
Thank you for sharing another great video!
That bridge to desert transition was so good
Tinker mackerel! We use them on the east coast for stripers!! Good stuff
Andrew: "Here's this thing that's big, sharp, and looks like a Hook. Have no idea what's it called?"
Matt: "It's called a Hook."
hell yeh the OGs are back
Really like the tense sound track.
That sheepshead is good eating. I have had many of them after a trip to Catalina Island.
I know San Diego. Lived there 6 years and gone back many times. There is usually good fishing out there. Tuna, Yellowtail, Dorado all in summer and others on bottom. Sometimes Tuna are far out.
hey matt good mornin🤗wooww nice trip u drove 1000 mile for fishing thats amazing good job so exciting stay safe matt god bless u as always..i never skip when i watch ur videos🙏😊🥰👍👍👍👍👍✌🤙🎣🐟🐬🐠🐳❤❤❤

Awesome vid bro
20:35 Bow chika wow wow.
I like to see you incorporating your wife....fosters even better relationship! Well done!
Great video!
Dry hand, wet hand when dipping that fish, love ya!
Andrew is pretty good at hosting
White Seabass is one of the more elusive fish to catch off California coast. They hang around kelp patties...also I had luck off the backside of San Clemente....years ago though...
Damn thats a long ways for a sheephead. Still a very entertaining video as always. Hope next trip brings the pb tuna!
Damn it feels good to see the GANG out fishing again 👍. Good luck fam and hopefully you catch some Monsters throughout the last couple months of the 2022 year
I love this dude!!!
The sheepshead in the gulf have black and silver stripes. Cool.
