    I had to show my wife the clip when you threw the trout back by accident. She did the same a few years ago when we were fishing with her parents. We all stood there in shock as she accidentally tossed the fish she just caught back in the water. 😂 One of our favorite fishing moments.

    Ever think about a waterproof "spinner sticker kit" and a dozen "Blank" lures? So you can customize your lure without carrying a huge tacklebox. Could have many different "colored/pattern stickers" one for fresh water and another for salt. Make em' easily removable. Keep on fishin'! Love them Gold/Black Panther Martin in Alaska. Despite the wide success of Panther Martin and Roostertail lures on catching fish, (I too have had my share, even used the exact same lures shown), the spinner blades can twist your line into a mess. (Whereas Rapala type lures won't do that unless they are fouled while you've been trolling). You mentioned a wind knot and losing another lure on your cast and using 2-6lb test line. The weakened and tightly twisted compressed light line is how that can happen, let alone your spool fouling up when you open the bail and or try to cast and the fouled line gets caught in the guides. Another way line gets twisted while spin fishing is when fighting a fish and the drag is going out but the angler is winding the reel at the same time. That too only spins the line into a twisted mess and why fishermen eventually have to discard line and or re-spool so often. To circumvent this problem, I let my line unravel after every cast (reach your rod straight overhead and let the line/lure go down to 2" into the water and watch it counter spin until neutral) and then, I only cast say 10-15 times before switching out lures to a non spinnerbait style. It doesn't eliminate the problem but it can delay it. Just my two cents of an opinion, fish on brother.

    Hey Matt! Awesome fish, and yes, I was looking forward to finding out if bigger was not necessarily better, but hey it happens. Also, as far as the deer meat goes, I have ate it for 61 years now and the bad taste you were expecting comes from how the meat was processed, if there is any fat or what is called silver skin left on the meat you will get that bad gamey taste because deer fat, unlike other animals, goes rancid really fast. So as long as the fat and silver skin is removed before cooking or freezing, it is a very good, lean, tender meat. PS, the deer's diet, ie grass vs nuts, can make a small difference also.

    When my friend and I fish rooster tails we always give the lure a little jerk when we start retrieving to start the blade spinning. Also we only use 2lb trilene XL and when casting we always point straight to where we cast and that lowers your chances of the line catching on the rod tip or a guide that snaps your line. Also my buddy is from southern cali and he uses 1” firecracker tubes with a 1/64-1/32pz tapered jig head and used to catch a ton of trout.

    just for future reference, you always want to connect the battery to the charge controller before you connect the solar panel. doing it the other way can damage the charge controller if it is older or cheap, but also connecting the battery first lets the charge controller basically read the battery and figure out if it's 12v or 24v and things like that.
    so you could have some real problems if you connect them in the wrong order, but if you're lucky the charge controller will just be like "yo, something's wrong, i'm not gonna do anything" and it won't even try to charge the battery, or it will charge it slowly.
    also, solar panels do not like shade. even the tiniest bit of shade, like if 1% of the panel is in shade, the panel will barely work, if at all, especially with cheap panels like that.
    so if you make sure it's in full sun, then you will probably get at least 2x the charging power from it

  • @richlather30
    @richlather30 15 дней назад

    I'm in agreement with others that 2lb.mono is too light. My go to choice is 4lb. mono for what you are doing and SOP for teaching kids/beginners is to use Stren clear blue fluorescent because its so easy to keep track of out of the water. 4lb. handles a tip wrapped or bail snagged line without breaking off far better than 2lb. mono. Another issue could be you got some old monofilament, so check the date of manufacture on your 2lb. that you have and replace it if its older than 3-4 years.
