We used stainless steel spoons with two treble hooks for northern pike in northern Minnesota back when I was a kid in the 60s and 70s ...My Finish grandfather said thats what they had when bait was harder to get for ice fishing. So it's clearly a older idea than you think. 💪😎

I think this is one of the best episodes ever this is so much fun to watch you catch such good quality fish and just a plain ordinary spoon that you would eat soup with that’s so cool I think you should use those lures all the time as a regular lure.

Thanks for the entertaining vid. Watching the action of your "Dinner Spoon" was similar to a flat-fall jig but maybe better as it was lighter and larger. Had me thinking it might be good for Yellowtail.

up in Alaska we have a rock fish conservation effort going. If we get any to the boat with barotrauma like some of those in the video, we use a deep water release to let them go. Keeps them from floating off for the seagulls and eagles to kill.
Well, that is what the original “spoon lure” was made from. That was crazy great action on that. Those fish were eating like they were being “Spoon fed” ! 🤣🤣🤣

This is actually pretty popular with mackerel commercial fisherman and they get smacked and super cheap to make.Pretty cool to see it work in other places as well and catch other species.

I actually think those spoons be great Drifting for halibut either with nothing on the hooks or maybe just a little slice of squid four cent. But yeah I would like to see maybe do a drift video for halibut with the spoons see how the action goes on there. And maybe even salmon downrigger.
